junky carbs?
The 280Z first had an N42 head followed by the N47. The E88 was, I believe a later 240Z head? I have too many other facts and figures to remember in real life so I can't be too sure but this is my recollection.

Northern California Weber (maybe Mikuni) tuning day anyone?
Will do, both Keith and the host location restoration shop Original Customs are onboard. I just need to pick a date and post it...

New interior door panel skins 1978 280z
I have no first-hand knowledge of either vendor but I did get my vinyl from Classic Datsun Motorsports. Les Cannaday is the owner and he is CDM on this site. Here is a picture of the finished product. He has the later stuff too...

Anyone try the MSA aluminum driveshaft?
For those who don't care to understand the math and the physics, the amusing thing is these two actually pretty much completely agree with each other. 8)

Word!

Anyone recognise these wheels?
I have a set of these in 1/4"... No really. In my trophy cabinet I have an ancient Hotwheels Z on a flatbed and those wheels are what Hotwheels put on the car!

Mac Tilton... I had a conversation with him over an hour or so a couple decades back. Interesting guy.

New Logo
My wife says she associates that flag with her great-grandfather being marched off and subsequently shot on the Bataan Death March... She says though, that the rest of the world needn't suffer because of her association. She just wouldn't buy a shirt. If you find something distasteful, avoid it. Don't subject the rest of the world to your own values. (Her words. Not mine)

Anyone try the MSA aluminum driveshaft?
Gentlemen, for the record, there will be no last word... Let the mud fly!

Anyone try the MSA aluminum driveshaft?
I hate burnouts. It means the rest of the suspension isn't doing what I want.

Warning! Steve, you are arguing with an engineer. A famous Z guy once pointed out that arguing with an engineer is like mud-wrestling with a pig. After a while you're covered with mud and you realize the pig loves it! I told you Leon said there is no more power being made...:classic:

New Logo
It's pretty cool actually. It took me a bit of looking until I realized I was looking at the 'sugar scoop headlight' bucket of a Z. I'm on board.

I need a new, (or very good used), set of red door panels. WHERE CAN I FIND THEM?
How are your door cards? The backer board behind the vinyl. If it's good, you can buy new vinyl from Classic Datsun Motorsports. If no good, you can buy fiberglass backer from Strictly510, but after all that you're at $500 or so. I have one good side in red, passenger I think but it would need SEM dye spray and the chrome strip would still be toast.

And there you have it, 'the last word.'

Let's show vintage racing pictures. I'll start.
Since I started the thread, I can speak to this. My intention was in posting pictures to get the collaborative input of the members to fill in the blanks where it can be done. There has never been an intention that this be a picture only thread. I stated above that the pictures I personally have gathered come for the most part from a picture-only thread on another site. I have no idea where the person who posts them gets them, However I can tell you that the guy who has this vast library of pictures is Colin Chapman's nephew. I know him personally but I doubt he has time to discuss them. I do know that he and his friend who also has a very large racing picture library live in the same area of Florida as Carl, and have been to some of the same events because they have taken pictures of Carl's BRE Rally car. If you know something about the car or the race, by all means, contribute to the knowledge base. :classic: My confusion in thinking the recent B&W picture I posted was recent is because along the rocker panel it says something followed by 2001. I took that to be a year.

Ok, Leon is still right, there is no more power being made, and you have restated what I said which is that "there is just an increase, however large or small in efficiency." You're correct. You'll probably want the last word but I agree, there is an increase in efficiency under acceleration. 8)

Leon is correct. There is no more power. There is just an increase, however large or small in efficiency. Somewhere, there is probably a trade though. Maybe they only have a service life of 5 years, there is always a trade off.

There are coming from a strictly picture thread. I would say, less than one percent Datsun/Nissan...

TR6 commanding big bucks these days,,,,Z's should even be higher ,,,,,thougths
Ok Julio, that is true of British sports cars until the MGB. It actually has been called 'the most popular sports car in history' due to having the longest run and largest number of cars made (by the report of my British car friends). I have owned British cars. Didn't have much opportunity to drive them as they generally don't run. But, I've never lost money on one. Basically drag them home and after a year of frustration, sell it for the same or slightly more money. I think Tim Suddard has it right. Restore the body, replace everything mechanical with a rotary and new electronics. Then race the snot out of it...

Was that a Z?

Was that a Z?
I agree with Jon. If you're going to modify the Z, the one that looks enough like a Testarossa to wizz off Ferrari and this one are pretty cool.
