Go to YouTube and check out Silverstreak1971... He is a member here and most of his videos are at Thunderhill in Northern California. He does a heck of a lot of passing for a guy driving a 40 year old car... 8D Do a search on YouTube, 'Silverstreak1971 240Z Thunderhill'
  6. More recent and a bit artsy...
  7. Let me know directly when you get to production Les... I have nothing on my driver side and I am just leaving the passenger side with the original tired upholstery until this project bears fruit. My entire interior is new, dash included and an autographed Mr. K glove box door. Just waiting on door panels... 80
  8. Steve, While I do feel your pain, I have never not had to rework fiberglass... While I don't have any fiberglass on my Z presently, I bought flares from Bob Sharp Racing back in the early '80's and they were from the same mold the BSR racecar parts were made on. The body shop that sponsored me spent 20 hours on each front fender. Ed the owner of the body shop came into the bar one night while he was working on the car and said "Rob, I love you man but every time I see you - you're buying the drinks forever." That was then, to this day I still buy him a brew every time we are together... With fiberglass, that's just the way it is...
  9. Some shots I found today...
  10. The 1980's...
  11. From Japan?
  12. A little red white and blue for your 4th of July!
  13. You kind of feel responsible to preserve whatever should be preserved...
  14. I was looking today for parts for my 914 and came across HLS3017369 in a local junk yard. It had a some niggling little interior screws and such that I needed, but I also grabbed the aftermarket front and rear swaybars and blue (Suspension Techniques?) springs all the way around. Just for giggles, I grabbed the SU's and manifold as well as the aftermarket headers. I didn't take it, but the exhaust from the header back was new... I don't need any of this stuff but it seemed too good to risk it going to the crusher with the car. Oh! It has a Series I rear hatch with the vertical defroster stripes and vents. I wasn't aware that these went this deep into the VIN#'s? On 914World we have a VIN registry to record our own, and 'dead' VIN#'s.
  15. New ones I found...
  16. Both the 914 and the Z leak a tiny bit. I figure they are just marking their garage territory...
  17. He sells the 914 reproduction fiberglass core at $105 for the pair retail. As I said, he would very probably do a group buy to sell out the first run. Full replacement panels? I have seen a few NOS panels in black and blue selling on eBay for $900+. I do ok but I'm not stupid. Where are these replacement panels coming from?

That thing is so light weight I hear it went 53 laps on its first set of tires. That is something close to 4 times the laps the other cars were doing. As for the narrow front end, I bet the turn in was incredible as long as they can keep if from pushing...
  19. I recently bought the vinyl kit for my door panels from Classic Datsun Motorsport. The quality exceeded my expectations! Then came the problem. I discovered that my door panel pressed board was kind of wonky... Here is the good news; I have a friend in Oregon who has a company that manufactures parts for vintage Porsches. His quality is impeccable. If he can't make it better or as good as OEM, he just will keep trying till he does. He made door panels for my 914 with a fiberglass core and new vinyl that looks EXACTLY like the factory panels. They will never warp because they are fiberglass and could care less about moisture. He has agreed to make door panel cores out of fiberglass for our early Z cars. He needs excellent core panels to work with though... :disappoin I got crap. Anyone have a set of great ones he can use? The good news is that when he makes a new product he usually has a group buy and sells the first batch at his cost. You can see examples of his work at his website 914rubber.com
  20. A Z racer at Blackhawk source might be Phil Reith. He would know.. I had mine Jet-Hot coated which is supposed to move the heat along and mitigate some of that. If it's any consolation, when I arrived in California I discovered that many of the factory exhaust manifolds in the Pick and Pull were warped as well. I have also heard of having the mating surface milled to make it perfectly flat.
  21. My hero growing up. I feel blessed to have been there and seen him race in person. A great competitor who happened to be a pretty good actor...
  22. A close up shot of the Frizzelle car just off the trailer, back in the day... Next to a pic of it just a few weeks back at the Canepa Restoration facility in California...
  23. Bob Sharp Racing Z...
  24. Here's one from Japan I suspect...
