  1. Years ago I had a problem with him on eBay. I pay within seconds after the auction ends and he didn't ship. He was arrogant about it and strung it out as long as he could then banned me from his auctions. What I got was a new part and I got it too cheap but treating me like crap and calling me names was not the way to handle it. I wrote him off at that time. When I see that he is still in business I had to think he must have cleaned up his act. I never mentioned my problems with him to anyone till now and never heard anyone else have a problem.
  2. Oh he will. That is a real no kidding vintage racer and he has been working like a dog to get it ready and actually go racing instead of just wishing he were racing. Check these out... Pretty sure these are from back in the day.

Was there a package insert with the rings? These often have ring gap settings.

Mine just graduated from nursing school... She can date when she is thirty but she can drive the Z anytime she wants.
  5. That's interesting. Both your car and my friends 914 have the number 89. Am I not seeing that right? I can't see your number in my friend's picture but I can see his and yours is in your avatar.
  6. Yep. Ozark. The fuel they put in those things tells me that they have to rolling a ton of miles.
  7. UPS might be hiring and they start at 70K a year. Otherwise, there is a fleet that is based on the other side of the railroad tracks from our base of operations that is hell-a busy. I will find out their name and post it here for you. I see their guys coming in for fuel one after another all evening. I think they deliver to Raley's and Belair?
  8. This picture is from last weekend at Blackhawk Farms in Northern Illinois. A guy from Chicago who owns this vintage racer went out for his maiden voyage in it. He titled this shot "First pics of the Datsuns that blew my doors off". Not sure who the Datsuns belong to. Phil is that you in one of them?

As I work as an education director for a major ambulance company, my pager would have been going crazy with instructions for mutual aid readiness. I had the day off but I would say this is a hoax without checking anything on the internet...

I can't see where you are indicating that your line is kinked but if you are refering to the metal 'trombone' fuel lines, I have a spare that you can have for the shipping.

Not sure Jon... He blamed torque and I had the grid to run when I wasn't running myself so I never looked. He probably would have been TTOD had it not been for that too. He got beaten by a 130hp 4 cylinder 914 with slicks. Weighs 1326# dry. He was very aggressive and a good driver.

You do realize that this is the paddock at Infineon Raceway? The eventmaster had to line the outside of the course with cones as a barrier so people doing the track day event didn't cross into the autoX course (insurance requirement). There are more cones being used to line the course boundary than there were to make the course. Besides, considering the sheer size of the course, that was not too many cones. The course was 350 yards long and 150 yards wide. Wide open course too. Only one spot that if you carried too much speed you could lock up and hit cones. I explained that poorly, sorry... He didn't eat his fan belt. He snapped off the water pump shaft with the torque and the fan belt and fan practically came through the front of the radiator.

This guy shows up at a lot of the autocross events at Charles Schultz Airport in Santa Rosa CA. I am told the car has a Rebello 3.X stroker motor in it. By the end of the day he had eaten his fan belt with all that torque. This particular event is at Infineon Raceway, Sears Point for you old purists and it is a Porsche Club event. If you watch carefully, you see my silver 914 - #20 sitting in the grid area in the first few seconds of the video. The guy who posted the video incorrectly identifies it as a Redwood Region event. It is actually a Sacramento Valley Region Porsche Club event. http://www.youtube.com/user/bschoenh#p/u/48/-glHMbw6TRQ
  14. Try Scott Yeaman in Palo Alto. He does a lot of restoration quality work and a price he quoted me for welding on the factory GT flares on my 914 was very good. Name of the shop is Yeaman's Auto Body I believe... PS: my understanding is Scott went to Stanford and got a BS and MS in mathematics but loved the body shop business he had grown up doing. So, he started his own.
  15. I have had good luck with a Goodyear store near me. The manager knows that I have a tire sponsor and she is happy to M&B the Tire Rack Tires for me as long as I buy my 4Runner tires from her and I also have the 4Runner oil changed there. I could do it but for the time it takes to take off the rock guard and the splash pan $30.00 is well worth my time.
  16. Here is another... I think this is recent sanctioned vintage racing.
  17. Here is another... Not sure of the race or date on that last one. Maybe someone will recognize the track.
  18. Found another... Not sure if the car is real or replica though...
  19. I have one of the Nissan Motorsports crank bolts and I believe it has that recess on the backside. Annoying when something little spoils a big money effort... Hope all works out.
  20. Polyurathane can be contributing to your stiff suspension. My point is that the bushing must allow full motion of the suspension. So, if yours were a "grunt' to get in, that is probably your problem. Polyurathane can gall if it isn't just the right size to allow for the full motion. Delrin can at least be reamed to clearance it so you can have full motion. I would consider your bushings as the culprit. As I said, my suspension doesn't feel harsh at all but that is because of the full motion of my suspension. Neither the springs or the shocks can do their jobs if bushings will not allow the suspension to turn about its axis.
  21. Make sure your bushings aren't FUBAR. In my Porsche 914 I have 200# springs on adjustable perches, Koni Yellow adjustables set to full firm and new bushings that allow for full travel of the suspension. The latter is perhaps the most important for street ride comfort. With the shock disconnected, I can push my control arms and trailing arms through their full range of motion. This means that my springs and struts are able to do their job of sucking up the bumps without the bushings sticking. My ride is very nice and the only time you can tell that I have a high performance suspension is when you are pulling a full G in a corner and hanging on so you don't fly out of your seat. If you have original rubber bushings make sure that they are not "fried" and not allowing suspension travel. If you have replaced with Delrin or Polyurathane, make sure that you have full travel and they are not binding. This is probably the most overlooked aspect of suspension tuning by enthusiasts. If it will not move through its full range all the springs and struts in the world will not help.

I ran over one of my chickens today (accidentally) in case someone wants to be different. Be quick though. Damn things start stinking pretty quick...:paranoid:
  23. I love moderate springs and heavy bars. Makes for a streetable car that handles very well at an autocross. I say use the bars...

The snow pack in the mountains just East of me is at 115% normal. We have had rain for a few weeks with a day or two reprieve a week or so back. The year I left Minnesota for California by way of Kuwait and Saudi Arabia it snowed 3+ feet on Halloween. I woke up in the morning, opened the front door and it was drifted all the way up so I couldn't even see light. There were often times that I had to park my car at a convenience store a mile away from home and get a ride in with the local cops in 4WD and then cross country ski back in the morning. It may not seem like it now, but it will melt. Hang in there.
