  1. A couple more...
  2. I know but that is what the guy offered... 8( My wife is going down there on business so I think I have this covered. Now if I can just get them sterilized and bagged so they can go into her A4 2T 8)
  3. In case you're wondering what will replace these wheels and tires: 15X7 Panasports with V710 Kumho's 8) The Ice Queen needs sticky's to fly right?
  4. I have sold the wheels that are on my Z now to a guy in Whittier CA. He wants the Azenis too so shipping is prohibitive. $50 gas money to anyone who can get these to Whittier from Reno, Sacramento, or Sonoma!
  5. Eric, I just talked to the owner and he said he doesn't need any prior notice. He says take over the damn parking lot! He loves it! Coincidentally, that is the same date and time I picked for the June Reno event...
  6. Bill Madamba showed up too... As well as about 1/2 dozen 914 guys. You wouldn't notice them because their cars seldom run. This will work guys. We maybe just need someone to take the reins and host... I had 24 people in Reno 8D
  7. I know he can get them. I will talk to Eric in the next couple days and put together a group buy. He has done this for Porsche guys and he almost literally gives you his price. I don't think he can by the rules he is supposed to follow but he is a great guy and he likes the car-guys more than the supplier guys.
  8. If you guys want, I can ask my friend Eric to do a group buy on Porterfield R4S pads and shoes (yes, they are available, or were last year). He is my friend who did the brake restoration thread.
  9. Dropped by Canepa Design while I was at Laguna Seca a couple weeks back for a 914 event... The Frizzell car is looking good!
  10. Our own Coop at Reno-Fernely just this year. Larry drives the snot out of this thing and does it as often as he possibly can...
  11. I paid just under $100 for Classic Vehicle plates here in Nevada a couple weeks back. I am limited to 5000 miles a year which is ok because I am limited to 2500 miles a year by my insurance policy. If I had not gotten Classic Vehicle plates I would have had to smog test it here in Washoe County. You also have to smog back to 1968 in Clark County. It would never have passed smog with the triple Webers...
  12. Ok, so even though I don't live there anymore and in most cases can't be there, I have been asked to get the Sacramento Z Car Reunion up and going again... Fine! :pirate: So, the May Sacramento Z Car Reunion will be May 19th 9am to noonish at Family Donuts and Deli. Still located at the Northwest corner of Fair Oaks Blvd. and San Juan Avenue. Come on down and see the old gang! Brag about how well you will be doing at the next autocross. See you there!
  13. John, The real test is in how long it takes to the heat to get out, not how hot they get. I would test each at 10 minutes 20 minutes and half an hour. The hypothesis being that it takes longer for the heat to get out of the painted caliper. I agree though, on a street car it isn't an issue.
  14. You don't build enough heat during an autocross run for it to make a difference. Fade would come from a 20 minute track session or a bit of canyon carving. Trust me on this. Coming around turn ten at Brainerd International Raceway and finding your brake pedal going all the way to the floor is not the excitement you signed up for...
  15. Yes it will. Trapped heat causes brake fade. Plate them. Don't paint them.
  16. I think you're right Mike. Eric definitely over-restores. He is in Brazil right now but I'm sure he'll answer when he returns. (Family vacation)
  17. HEAVY... But I guess they look ok.
  18. I had a set on my 914 when I bought it. They were called Western Wheels IIRC. The dealership pulled off the factory alloy wheels and put on aftermarket alloy wheels so they could upcharge the original buyer. Then, they sold the factory wheel out of their parts department.
  19. Yup. Just trying not to spill too many of Les' beans...
  20. I just spoke with Les today... No problem. He answered his own phone and we talked for probably 1/2 an hour. He definitely isn't a one-man shop and it isn't a part-time venture. He has about 2 years of work sitting in his shop. Those of us who know what having someone like Les in the Datsun restoration business are probably a bit more patient... No one else is jumping into the business and with the rusting that is going on, he has less customers every day! It wouldn't surprise me if he closed up shop and went to work restoring some rich dudes vintage racers...
  21. The aftermath... No way to tell from the pictures if everyone is alright.
  22. This looks to be from Australia. Note the right hand drive Z... I hope the Porsche driver was alright!
  23. Let's open our minds a bit and realize that there are more uses for an old Z car than we might imagine...
  24. Carbs are synched within a 'gnat's breath' and were effectively pretty well jetted for Sonoma, CA (Original Customs) restoration shop that I use. I trailered back to Reno yesterday and got her off and fired her up. Still runs nicely, but the A:F ratio numbers moved to the rich side in a dramatic manner. 9:1 range for idle and just on the rich side for acceleration. I didn't dare do WOT testing as I live within a few short blocks of Damonte Ranch High School and I would imagine there is a cruiser or two waiting for the boys to display their testosterone... All my jets are in a box in a Sacramento storage garage so it will have to run a bit rich for now. I am looking around for the stock choke mechanicals that I can cable up to the Webers with for now. I managed to find a lever and mount with all the electricals for the light on ebay but when I got it I realize it is meant for the right side of the console and mine, a '73 is on the left. Anyone want to trade?
  25. Sorry Jeff, I've never seen that pic till now... But I love it! Another rally Z?
