  1. I really hope i had it right as i just ordered it theses are the pics i referenced, from an ebay auction.
  2. Wouldn't you know it just after I post this, I finally find the part number online by searching high res photos. Here it is for future reference to all: 21200-P7991 Mods if this is a waste of time feel free to delete.
  3. Hey All, I searched around here and could not find this information. There are a lot of threads referencing thermostat but not the part numbers. I am looking for the Nissan Part number for the Thermostat Kit. I have checked both the CD and the online catalogue at http://www.carpartsmanual.com/datsuns30/DatsunFairladyZIndex/tabid/1543/Default.aspx But I cannot find the kit that comes with all the gaskets just the individual parts. I know courtesy Nissan sells the kit but I am ordering from NissanParts.cc as they have some other great deals on parts and do not want to pay for two sets of shipping. Anyone know the p/n for the kit? Also I know there are different temperature thermostats, how do you differentiate the two?
  4. Just a note to others looks like many places are out of the two row from Champion and that only the 3 rows are available at the moment. I ordered a 3 row but am concerned about the extra work the fan will have to with the air flowing through such a thick core at low speeds and when stopped. Hopefully it works out fine.
  5. Thanks Dave I pulled the trigger on an Ebay Champion radiator with a good warranty will let everyone here know when I get it, install it and test it out
  6. Hey All, Sorry it took me a little while to get to this. Here are the measurements I have: OD: 110mm ID: 85mm Heights (rear?): 11.5 inches / 292mm Heights (front?): 11.0 inches / 280mm Number of active springs: 8 I hope I measured these correctly, but am in no means a spring measuring expert. I would really love to know the rates if anyone can identify these springs.
  7. Sorry to revive this thread just a few quick questions. Do these radiators work with the normal fan or are they just too thick? I also saw this great deal on an aluminium radiator and was wondering if anyone has ever bought from this place or has one of these radiators? http://www.genesisautoparts.com/product/all35098x7107aa.htm Has anyone purchased the MSA radiator? This is quite cheap especially with the CZCC discount and supports MSA that supports us. Is it the same as the champion type? http://www.thezstore.com/page/TZS/PROD/PCLC04/16-6964 Just trying to do my homework before I push the buy button.
  8. Thanks yeah I have decided not to go that route too, just going to use the energy suspension bump stops.
  9. Thanks let me know how they work out as I am curious to install these too. I also saw them on amazon for a good price.
  10. Do you know if these with other shocks than KYBs? From the looks of them the bump stops are rubber. Looks like a much cheaper option.
  11. Yeah I was thinking they might be MSA ones too as I know they used to have something similar to Arizona Z car springs with stock ride height but higher rates. Do you still have them to measure?
  12. Montezuma could you provide me measurements so I can check against them? Do you know the rate of those springs?
  13. Hey All, I am looking at redoing a lot of the suspension I notice a lot of people leave the shock bare. I know that there are shock dust cover to help prevent dirt and dust from getting in. I was wondering what thoughts there are on these? The parts are still available: 54055-N3700 COVER-DUST FRONT SUS 54057-N3700 RING-SNAP DUST COVER I am just wondering why no one uses them? Is it that they are unnecessary? Too expensive? Difficult to install? I know they came for later cars but would make sense to protect the shocks so I am just wondering why people do not use them.
  14. Hey All, I know this might be a long shot but with all the wealth of knowledge here I was wondering if someone here might recognise the type of springs these are. I got these from a previous owner a few years back as some parts that he had. As you can see in the pic they are blue and intended for a 240z but there are no other markings on them. I can measure them tonight. I forgot to do it the other day that I dragged them out. Any ideas or is it impossible to tell?

you might buy new connectors from here: http://www.crc2onlinecatalog.com/Index_Main_Frame.htm Click on electrical and they have many connector types similar to the Zeds Dave put me onto them so thanks go to Zs-ondabrain
  16. Never mind, BFS got it out

So final got around to installing this and wouldn't you know I messed it up slightly, is there anyway to get rid of creases? I was so mad at myself when this happened and the more I tried the worse I made it look. I still have a spare Datsun one to use when I eventually get a new windshield but for the life of me I could not get all the bubbles out around the letters and then of course trying to do that I ended up creasing the side. One side looks awesome the other not so much. I was thinking of trying to shrinking it with a heat gut but that might make it worse. I wonder if anyone has any ideas?
  19. Ill try to make it this time I missed it last time right after the big MSA show too so looks like April will be a busy month for car shows.
  20. I didn't go home to Australia this year or anywhere so I spent the money on tools and stuff for garage New Craftsman roller chest and top chest New craftsman mechanics tool set Dewalt cordless impact wrench Snap On pull down garage light Harbour Freight impact sockets Dewalt drill Odd bits and pieces for the orange car Few odd tools, liners and socket holders from harbour freight Seems like a lot but lots was from craigslist or ridiculously on sale Finally getting the new garage organised, just need to get a good bench vise to help with taking the shocks out of the strut tubes.

Yeah also lots of nice problem fixing upgrades, search here for wiring harness upgrade. As tlorber said there are also benefits to improved ZX parts. This might be a good place to start for you to read the option to keep it close to stock. http://datsunzgarage.com/ There are a few good Z shops in the SF bay area: Datsonville ask for Honza Z Car Garage ask for Rob Dandos Automotive (haven't dealt with them yet) If you are ever up this way from Fresno maybe we can organise a meet up. How much you want for the wheels? Definitely get rid of them who would want those awful things? Ill even take them off your hands for free to help you out
  22. I know i am reviving this old thread but I just wanted to say thanks to Dave and give him another bump for his great headlight upgrade harness. It was one of the many little jobs I have put off for sometime. After much work I finally got it installed on the 1972. It is awesome, headlights are much bright and don't dim like the used too. Don't let the much work fool you that was more to do with myself learning and the previous owners wiring mischief including missing plugs, new spade connectors ridiculous amounts of electrical tape to remove without cutting the wires. Then myself tracking down a bad ground and at one point plugging it into a side marker which was hilarious (headlight blinking anyone). Don't miss the ensuring a good ground bit in the instructions. Quick question Dave, where do you get those 3 wire plugs/ Looks like the mischievous wiring was caused mostly by replacement of one or two of the plugs with just spades and lots of electrical tape. I wouldn't mind sourcing a few and fixing this for the future.
  23. Bart, thanks for the scare if I can't find it I am going to have to get a chassis place to look maybe Dandos like one member suggested. IdahoKidd, Still trying to work it out. I just got my new tool chest from a sears sale and have been trying to finally sort all my moving boxes in the garage for a bit more space. I will get the spring compressors out this week and see if I can see wear spots and then try WD-40. I am not a big fan of WD-40 find that it works for a bit and then gums up and makes things worse afterwards. Might try some chassis grease or shrink wrap Julio suggested. Thanks geezer, I was also thinking about that last night and thought at this point it couldn't hurt to remove it and see. I need to remove it, if i decide on new shocks anyway.
  24. Congrats Will, Glad you finally got to take it for a drive. Hope to see it out on the road sometime.
  25. Will is correct C Note Racing is their name and they run a lot, if you can contact them the guy who owns the car is Manfred. Sorry I don't have his contact details. I helped them with the 25 Hours of Thunderhill this year. Problems they had this year included alternator failures, chewing through alternator belts and a Broken Rear Diff Mount. Their alternator was a high output one, especially for when running the lights at night. You could also call Les at Classic Datsun he deals with a lot of Datsun vintage racing customers and probably knows the weak points better than anyone. I would say from what I have seen: Half shafts Stub axles Diff mount Extra alternators I also believe there was a post on here or hybridz about spares needed for 240Z most is probably valid for a 260Z. You probably have done it already but I would try to track down what is causing the ignition module failures, maybe changing the mounting location or grounding is causing the problem? I have no experience with those problems.
