  1. that really sux. goodluck with your Z
  2. First and foremost. a set of headers that i bought last saterday and are a no show. i checked with ups and fedex and there is no shipping info with my address in the system. and zero responses to any of my emails. I dont think this guy is running scam . he has sold other datsun parts in the past.his account could have gotten hacked, but it doesnt seem like an hacked account cause this was the only auction running. the paypal was link to a guy name steven oversteer. this is the link http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT&item=160319117326 have any of you bought from him before or know this guy? sorry but when it comes to internet purchases especially on ebay 5 business days are more than enough time to at least respond to emails. Next what the hell is it with this none stop cold rain in houston!?!?! if its not raining its drizzling! if its not drizzling its raining! It not the rain that's keeping me from working the car though. its the 40-50degree COLD rain! its been raining 4 days straight now NON-STOP!!! wtf!! i was hopeing to have my z with 4 on the floor this weekend with some new headers on her. i just needed to vent ..... so how everyone's week so far? anyone having a good week???
  3. i read into some more and i've decided im probably gonna just have to cap it off. unless some one can chime in on what to do with the 3rd line. the connection are non existent on the carb system. i guess i can just install the carbon filter and plug the 3rd line into that, but it still leaves me with what to connect the carbon filter to. the carbon fileter connects to a bunch of vacum lines on the fuel inj. manifold.
  4. sent pm hes not to far off the main highway. hes a cool guy
  5. actually that is useful but not in this case since the 280z didnt come with carbs originally. and the coolant hoses are associated with the carbs. and the problem with the fuel lines iw more of what to do with the 3rd fuel/return or vacuum line that goes to the tank.
  6. doubt its for a zx cause the over rider would cover the turn signals on the bumpers -well thats assuming it covers the length of the front bumper

thats pretty cool interesting design having to store a trailers do suck when you have limited space. having one that folds make thing that much easier.
  8. im pretty sure the partially stripped one were getting rusty but i did not really inspect them. the turbo one had some sort of spoiler on it not the waletail. it was at night and in the country soo i couldnt exactly see to well. and he said the turbo parts were sold. the multi color one sat in a barn for some years owned by an old lady than he obtained interesting story behind it too. looked to be low rust but cant speak for the floor boards. apparently the car belonged to a neighbor and he traded her a pie and some other stuff for it. the white one. not sitting one dirt actually on concrete. looked good, but some rust on bottom of car. had dry rot on low quarters near the door that he knocked off. he said it was a great car and drove it around alot. but took it up north one day left it there. he said there was nothing wrong with it he just didnt feel like driving it back. sat in snow for couple of months and well started rusting. not sure if he said he drove it back or brought back to texas. apparently he traded a transmission for that car. couldnt figure out what ws wrong with it since it ran fine. so he drove it around.
  9. i got my parts car from this guy. low and dirty. he has 4 79-83 Z's 2 cars parts only- partially stripped 1 car complete multi color - clean title was running when parked. 1 car white, outside looks good, has some rust starting to form. say in running condition clear title. and those are the cars... to the garage. from memory and not 100% 4 block for sure(although i think it was more like 6) 4 trans 2diff 2 sets of door stock headers aftermarket header wiring harnesses ** distributors** electric motors** emblems** a/c stuff** corners** hoods glass panels suspension parts** a bunch of other stuff/nick knacks***************** ******that i dont remember EVERY thing tagged/labeled/and cleaned. ** indicates he has a butt load. he wants it all gone for 3000 obo hes in brenum, tx. Im not selling anything im just relaying the msg. if you are serious about buying EVERYTHING and not just something pm me and ill give you his number. hes a busy man and no longer has time to pack things up and ship them out.
  10. first fuel lines. on the 280z theres three lines the 240 only has 2. so im not sure what to do with the 3rd line. the fuel filter has one in and one out. so i know that one from tank-pump-filter= main fuel line. than i guess the second is a return fuel line? which one would that connect to? and what the heck do i do with the 3rd one? on carb fuel rail setup they're two fuel lines. i guess one is a main fuel line and the other is a return hose? i numbered the pipes to make explaination easier. Second. i forgot to take mental note of what went where. i was losing daylight and wanted the weber carbs out fast so i can clean them during the night. also if any of you are interested in the progress here is a link to my Blog http://www.cardomain.com/ride/3072832

i also have wiring harness from my 73 240 parts car. in good shape the only thing i noticed was one of the plugs that go into the wiper switches was a little melted. anywho.. let me know if you want to buy.
  12. well i ve been thinking of this for a bit and it has to be something harder to install than oem headlight covers. after all it took him 4yrs to finally put it on. to me, that suggest that its a hard item to install or its a VERY easy to steal part. which than brings you back to the headlight covers. sooo..... what comes in 4 pieces, not easy to install or easily stolen, but will help a little bit in speed and a dealer item. my guess would be some rims, but i cant think of any rims that would be worth 300 than go up 300%. headlight covers seem to fall into place better. you know i forgot about the less than 2lb thing. so rims are def. out. was there a such thing as factory short shifter and knob combo?

theres 4 bolts hold them on. but im pretty sure you figured that much out. the driver side one is easy to take out you just have to maneuver it around to get the end peice to fit through the hole. the passenger side one is alittle more tricky. but you dont need to completely drop your tank. just loosen the passenger side strap on the tank and detach the main gas tube from the tank. this should give you just enough room to loosen the bolts and work the absorber out. - also helps if you have a mini ratchet with the 1/4 inch drive with appropriate socket so you can room for the ratchet to move back and forward.

289 bux for complete carpet set? 79 just for the main 1 piece... maybe it just me, but that sounds expensive. especially since i can buy this carpeting by the roll for 30-100 dollars depending on the length. if you really want insulation that cheap foam is just that cheap!! i dont know maybe because im in houston texas so i have access to this stuff. but still...its just carpet...

Great looking Z!! hope you enjoy it and do you plan on doing any restoration work on it?
  17. wow!!! i know what im buying with my tax return!!!
  18. well this wasnt for the datsun they were for my subaru. i guess i should have mentioned that. but... if you order from them make sure they have it in stock first. because they dont stock a lot of product that they sell. most of it isnt made until you order it.
  19. i tried to buy brembo front and rear rotors from them once they ended up canceling my order cause the miss priced the rear rotors.

if you dont already have a z to pimp around... id just drop an engine in it and drive it around till something better comes along. but if you already have a z that you drive than part it out. atleast thats what i would do.
  21. maybe try some rubbing compound and a buffer? -edit. almost sounds scratches n the glass so the rubbing compound and buffer would clean it out and the heat from buffer would help smooth it out.

looks like its been filled. or could have been restored.there should be a seem that runs right under the weather strip. that loves to collect water ive had 3z's in my possession so far and all of them have rust at that seem.
  23. Ha you right!! i did a search on "weber 32/36 dgv carburetor vacuum operated secondary" and found an article comparing a mechanical vs vacuum operated secondary. the position of the primary limits the secondary opening. makes perfect sense now. thanks alot that little bit of info helped me figure it out. you have been a great help in all my post stephen.
  24. ok i searched and i mostly found were question and answers on what people thought about them. all honesty i might already know the answer, but my lack of knowledge on carbs wont allow me to believe its correct. i made a vid instead of trying to type out a long confusing description. http://s86.photobucket.com/albums/k98/overdrivex/?action=view&current=b08816d4.pbr just dont seem right..my best guess is the rod that everything is attached to needs to be replaced because it maybe stripped. that's why instead of moving both sides it only moves one side. both carbs are doing this and this is why im not sure if it really messed up or im just not looking at it right. i did not assemble these this is how it came with the car. the owner said it did run at one point than sat for some years and he could not get it to start. any helpfull input on this would be appreciated.
