iv been trying to hunt down a 77-78 280z parts car. not very much luck. i know you houston guys probably got parts or parts cars laying around. or maybe even know someone that has one. i found someone selling some 240's on craigslist i emailed within minutes of the post and he hasn't responded wtf is with that? so far my offer range has been 200-500 depending on condition and how complete the car is. but i only got 2 emails since i put my WTB ad. and left two offers on some BADLY rusted z's i saw parked in peoples backyards(visible because of IKE) one guy thinks his non-running windowless rust bucket that been sitting in the rain for over 3yrs is worth 2500bux... i mean really..WTF!! sooo if you can help let me know i need my Z on 4 wheels and not on jackstands!!!

thats wild they had to dig out the car from the basment. even the scale replica of the ferrari was freakin awesome.

yeah but its hard to keep two back up keys in your wallet as opposed to keeping one key.

never understood why back in those days they thought it would be a great idea to have one door key and one ign key...wonder how much a lock smith would charge me to rekey my doors to the ign key... anywho good to see you got your door open though.

i cant believe some of the cars that are being posted... in houston your lucky to find a rust bucket. some of the z being posted for crushing in this thread are great cars..... i need a parts car too =(

actually its fairly simple. all you need is a basic cell phone/w car charger. nothing fancy non flip phone and 3 relays. your basic cell phone always remembers the last number you dial(or set to speed dail depends on how yours work)the first two relays are tied to the alarm. one to alarm itself and other to the hood/door/trunk switch. those two are than tied to another relay that works on a time delay and can put out two pulses which is hard soddered onto the talk button on the cell phone. first pulse brings up the ready call screen. second pulse dials and thats it. *note i make it sound super simple on the cell phone part but theres actually two wires that are tied to the talk button.

at one point before i sold my car i had a prepaid t-mobile phone wired into my alarm and when the two signals i tied to tripped, it would make the phone dial out to my cell. i used two signal cause i didnt want it calling me evertime it went off. signal 1 was the alarm its self if it went off it would hit a relay. signal 2 was tied to the door/hood/hatch if any of those opened it activated the second relay giving the phone the signal to dial out.

yup that part seems pretty easy now that i look at it its the other wires that are not on the main engine harness that will be a little harder. but it looks like the guide covers it pretty well.

the 78 280z engine harness/ engine is none existent. sll i got was really a shell and some parts

500 bux is a good price. in houston, tx that car be gone within hrs of the for sale post on craigslist from your description.

well plan on using the new chassis because of the shape its in it would be waste to not use it. theres no real rust on this car. zero dry rot i would say only 8% of this car got rust. when i originally pick it up i was expecting a complete rust bucket. now that i got a good generally rust free z all i need now is a good cheap parts car in houston. not gonna be easy since cars are generally overpriced in houston.

i had a 280zx that i bought and it turned out the title could not be registered in texas. soo i was pretty disappointed so i found a cheap chaise to swap titles and vins with. so i roll out to scoop up this cheap Z. i was expecting the worst with a price tag of 100bux, but who cares i just need the title and plates. to my surprise......... the chaise was in DAMN good shape!!!!! WAAAAY better than mine so now i have a new project Z

i have a complete 83-z i cant get it register in texas cause of the title. so i found a 78-280z chaise for 100bux with clean tx title. i know the engine/tranny/rear diff will fit. but will any thing else fit? like the sub frames/ or front cross-member etc. also how hard would it be to wire in the fuel injection system or should i just find some old carbs?

look at that you just got the car and already a road trip. thats a good start =)

its started around those stupid rubber plugs and just spread all over the place. but i was able to patch it up. But on a side note. my hunt for seats have finally ended. i tried my old subaru seats they where a little too wide and sat way too high. im a big guy so it was hard to get in and out with them. BUT!! after that disappointment i looked next door to my uncles house and thought to myself... i wounder how long it will take him to notice that the seats out of his mitsubishi eclipse were missing . its been a week and he hasnt said anything yet!! ill have pics of the brackets and how they look in the Z by this weekend!

new to this forum. i just got my Z and just doing a basic restore to get it up and running for daily driver status. this is my first z and first car with more than 4cyl. i really wanted an earlier model but this one seem to be the right price still has potential. The inside not that great. think im going to take out dash and re vinyl it. need to knock out the insulation and some floor board rust. the previous owner let the battery leak all over and the acid rotted everything out in that general area thats the only bad rust area. just gonna clean it up and put some fiberglass on it. or maybe weld some metal. Once i get the z up to speed im going to put my Subaru on the blocks and start that project. Turbo charged Flat4, estimated power at crank should be at 340hp. iill be happy with 300 AWHP

i just picket up a datsun z that seemed to run good. but it has a couple of lights on. of the light i only able to read one of them. the light that says sensor... but there is one red light it 1/2inch square i have no idea what it is. there are no words or writing on it. the dash is in pretty crappy shape. can any one tell me what the red light is?
