Arne, can you tell me who/ I can go for the lugs that go with this wheel? I have the same wheel, four bolt and need the proper lugs for it? Thanks.
  2. Great idea, will do.
  3. All, thanks again folks. The tie down, which was a nylon stratp failed. Makes the battery contact with the frame the very likely cause. Will start working down the trouble shooting lists you have all given me starting with testing the battery to make sure it isn't completely fried. The fusalbe link did cook and almost seperated. That was the initial and visible point of failure. I have orddered a new on and temporarily replaced it with a standard wire. I may have compounded my problems with that move when I reapplied power. Will keep youposted. Thanks again for the help. Skybird
  4. For all who are helping, thanks. Got some things to check out now. The battery first. Make sure it is not fried. I did not realize the wire at the starter was a fusable link and so replaced it with standard wire. Still no joy. Could be the battery is cooked, or something else. Will start troubleshooting the recommendations and keep you posted, Regards, Skybird
  5. Folks, got one I can't figure out. My car is in great shape. Everything appears to be originally configured, especially wiring. Going around a left turn corner at 25 MPH, lost all electical. Got a puff of smoke from the right side under the hood. Power cable off of the starter was cooked. No other symptoms. Had just replaced the battery cables with marginal ones. Have fixed that with good fabricated ones. Battery checks good. All fuses that are obvious are good. Starter checked bad at Auto-zone and the new replacement changed nothing. I have horn and emergency flashers only (off batter I assume). I replaced the ballast resister, no joy. The ingition switch is new, 6 months old. Any ideas, single points of total electircal failure to check out? Skybird
  6. Dave, my turn signals are very, very slowww to flash. Do I need a new flasher and if so where on the planet do I find one? Also, everthing wroks except the left greeen arrow on the dash when hazzards are engaged. It works fine for the left turn signal. Any thoughts? Thanks Jack
  7. Thanks all. Great advice. I will start with balancing and rotating the tires and go from there. The hub centric issue just did't make sense to me, (why I asked). It is a four bolt rim with tapered lugs that should center the rims on the hub as you tighten. Also, reading other threads by y'all, it sounds like reverting back to the original rims and tire specs will not provided the performance of the after market solutions. I don't want to spend a lot of money to go backwards! Thanks again,
  8. I have been following the threads and getting a good education on 240 rims. My 71 Z has aluminum rims that I am told by my tire store are not hub centric which is the source of some front end shimmy. Two things; Anyone know about hub centric issues and how you fix it? I was told ther are hub centric rings that may be fitted OR replace the tires with ones designed to fit the hub. Also, where can I find original/replica steel rims and hub caps for the 71 Z? That may be my best option.
