I am trying to find a new shift knob with the Datsun logo on it for my 280. Anyone know where to find one?

I may be a little late on this but did anyone notice the Z car ads in the new sports illustrated swimsuit issue? They even had ads for the older z cars. You know your a z nut when your looking more at the cars instead of the half naked women.

I need to swap door shells on my Z. I am talking with someone out of town who has 2 shells from a 71 240. Will they match up with a 76 280? I have been told they will but my main concern is the locking mechanism on the inside of the door not matching up with mine. On a 240 can the lock that attaches to the body of the car be removed? Not sure if I should just wait till I find another 280 but at $40 per door in good condition It is hard to pass up. Since mine is a 76 I have come in contact with several other 280's that dont match up either.

Half of them dont even know a Z if they see one. This ford probe was playing around with me today so I took off and he tried his best but lost. He pulls up next to me down the road with these three young girls in his car (cute too) :classic: and asks what type of car is that? I said Z and he replied I never heard of that. I just grinned. These kids today I tell yah. I must be getting old.

Guys I got it from Motorsport for free through a friend of mine as a barter and trade deal. I think the cost was $300. It is all one piece. Fiberglass and I just bolted it up to the bottom of the headlight frames. It has held up really well no cracks from going over speed bumps. Air dam looks good but I love mine and have not seen any around with the same style. I seem to get at least one compliment a week. :classic:

Well I took it to get fixed today. Ball joint was bad. My caliper is not working properly and they said that is why I am getting the squeal. I love my Z but it reminds of the movie the Money Pit.

I have a center console on my christmas wish list. Anyone have one for a 76 280z? No cracks! Or input on the best place to get a new one at a reasonable price would help so I can forward the info to Saint Nick.

Actually I had the rotors and calipers replaced about 6 months ago. New not resurfaced. I am also getting an annoying high pitched squeal from the right front side now when I step on the brakes. Not the grinding sound you hear when the brake pads are worn down.

Yeah I see every Z owner finds this out sooner or later. I guess nobody checked this on the assembly line when the cars were made.

Right front of my car has started to shake lately when driving. Sometimes I have to actually hit the brakes to get it to stop. I am having the struts replaced immediately since they obviously need it. I have already had the ball joint replaced and the tie rods (I think they are called- not a mechanic) and all the bushings look fine. Is there anything else that might cause just the right front by the wheel to shake other than these items? Hoping it is just the strut.

Since I am a smoker I have had that happen in my z on more than one occasion. My lighter is not the actual lighter made for the car so maybe that has something to do with it popping out. I am really surpised nobody else has experienced this problem with their z.

Here are the results of the court case vs Maaco. Judge ruled they get away with painting the bumpers because I signed a receipt when I picked up the car. All the little fine print nobody reads. I only signed the receipt as conformation I picked up the car since I was in a hurry that day. However, they did not get away with painting the gas tank since the Judge agreed this was not found out till long after the paint job was done. All in all Maaco lost half the case and had to pay court fees so I did not lose any money. This Maaco also had an unanswered complaint on file with the Better Business Bureau from another customer. Now they have two on file. I realize some Maaco shops actually do their jobs but this owner has taken stupidity and incompetence to new heights. How he can sit in court and testify that it is acceptable to paint these parts on a car just blows me away. Z Wins

I know what you mean about the overpricing. I found a parts shop locally that had new ones for $29. Replaced them about two years ago and no problems.

I did not want to glass mine in either. Just drilled 4 holes and bolted it up. Pic attached.

Actually screwdrivers are common when it comes to Cadillacs. My mother had one stolen about 10 years ago. Apparently on certain makes of cadillacs you slide the screwdriver right under the sterring column push up and it starts right up! Think it was an 83 El Dorado

I concised the well known 600 HP Z into a flash MX file so its easier to pass around. Should be under 1 meg now. Anyone on a 56k connection or lower let me know if it takes too long to load since I just started experimenting with MX. Link

Read a story in the paper a few months ago about this. A man in California received one of these notifications in the mail with a picture of his car exceeding the speed limit. He takes a picture of Money on his table and sends it to them in an envelope. A few days later he gets a reply and finds a picture of handcuffs in the returned envelope. We do not have these cameras in Florida yet but I am sure it is only a matter of time. Will have to find me one of those clear tags that hides your plate#. :classic:
