Chrome Tail Light Border Thingys
From what I could find these two sites offer kits to do this yourself. Jcwhitney-Kit Caswell Plating I may give it a try to see if it works. This camry uses gold. Yuck. Also found this interesting article on the subject in case anyone is also looking to restore plastic parts with a chrome look to it. The Automotive Industry The initial motivation for the development of processes for electroplating on to plastics came from the automotive industry and this market sector has consistently been by far the largest user of the product. Once a successful process had been developed it rapidly became accepted by the industry, and by the early 1970s large areas of nickel/chromium plated plastics trim were appearing on vehicles. A whole range of components were produced in plated plastics, including radiator grilles, window trim, name badges, front/rear lamp units, mirror housings, interior trim, and auxiliary lamp units. This trend was particularly evident with vehicles manufactured in North America, where bright trim has always been more popular than in Europe. The use of plated plastics in the car industry reached a peak in the late 1970s and early 1980s. After that time the use of all types of bright trim declined as the design of cars changed in order to achieve a more aerodynamic profile to improve fuel consumption. This was particularly evident with European cars where nickel/chromium exterior trim was almost completely eliminated except on luxury models. This eventually produced a generation of cars that were very similar in appearance. So by the early 1990s designers were seeking ways of creating a degree of visual individuality and of restoring marque identity. It is perhaps ironic that one of the most effective ways in which this has been achieved has been by restoring bright trim, albeit within the constraints of good aerodynamic shape. This has been used particularly in high profile areas of the vehicle such as the radiator grille. This resurgence of application in the motor industry has produced a remarkable expansion of the plating on plastics industry over the last three to four years. It is estimated that in Europe as a whole the industry has grown by 50% since 1993, whilst in the UK in particular the increase has been even more dramatic, producing a doubling of capacity over that period.

Embarrassed at the traffic light HELP
Here in Florida you can actually get a ticket just from just revving your engine or peeling out. A friend of mine got a ticket for it in his Mustang. Fined for "Demonstration of Speed" $90

Headlight Problems
OK headlights work now. Swapped out the gold box on top of the switch with another one since the connections did not look real good. One problem down one to go. All the lights work any help on the blinkers? I put a replacement bulb in the left front turn signal which leaves my left turn arrow on in my dash display. Doesnt blink just comes on. Take out the bulb and it goes off again. This bulb will not sit right or stay on when I put it in. Will work on that problem. No turn signals at all front or rear.

Embarrassed at the traffic light HELP
I live about 40 minutes away from the Daytona Speedway. They have these classes you go through and then they let you run around on the track. I could see doing that but I have been in a car that reached 155mph. Call me a wuss or whatever but I really have no desire to go any faster than that. A whole new ball game at those speeds. Weird though the Blue Angels are based right around the corner and that is something I would love to do. Go up in one of those bad boys. Something like 500mph or whatever ungodly speed they fly at.

Embarrassed at the traffic light HELP
True and yet they still wreck. These drivers are also bumper to bumper. One stupid move and we all know what happens. I would just rather take my chances with hitting a dog then going into a brick wall at 180MPH.

Embarrassed at the traffic light HELP
I dont see where racing on a track is much safer though. Your driving twice the speed of most street racers with a three foot wide brick wall ready to take you out. Dale Earnhardt and Jason Priestly come to mind. If your going to street race I guess there just needs to be some kind of ethics to it. I never race someone through rush hour traffic or pull this cut off move that has happened to a few on here. The problem is you never know what the other driver will do. We are all human and will give into temptation sooner or later. If your going to put a life at risk from street racing just try and make it your own and not innocent bystanders.

Embarrassed at the traffic light HELP
I did get a speeding ticket last year racing another car and went to pay the fine. I never bothered to look at it since I knew I was speeding but the clerk told me the ticket was for 456mph in a posted 35 zone. Nothing faster than that :classic: I guess the Cop had one too many donuts that day and the sugar overdose fried his brain cells.

Embarrassed at the traffic light HELP
Sometimes You Feel Like A Nut - Sometimes You Don't I will race from time to time just depends on my mood. Lately it seems everywhere I go everyone wants to race me simply because the Z is a sports car. The other day an older man pulled up next to me in an early series 300ZX. Of course my car is running like crap till I get it fixed so I had to let him get his jollies peeling out from the stop light. :devious:

Headlight Problems
Thanks for the suggestions. Will keep troubleshooting to try and resolve the problem. I know what you mean with the side markers. Took mine off before it was painted and one of them had all kinds of muck and corrosion in it.

Chrome Tail Light Border Thingys
Anyone know where to find the fake chrome like frames around the rear tail lights at a decent price? I saw a web site a few months back where a guy was selling them and they looked brand new. Claimed he had restored them somehow. Is there a way to restore them or something that can be done to to make them look brand new? I dont know how he did it but mine do need to be replaced.

Only 240's ?????????????

Headlight Problems
Both switches were used from other cars. I did tear down one of the switches and double checked to make sure everything was there and working. I can buy a new switch but just wanted to see if anyone else had this problem before. If the switch was bad the headlights would never come on at all right?

Only 240's ?????????????
Well I was feeling good about my car till he belittled the hell out of it . Yeah there are plenty of 280s in the US. It appears California must have more Z's than any other state. Down here in Florida they are not as common. I live in a town with a population over 1 million and in the past year I have seen maybe 3 or 4 classic z's total. If you do find them here they are all rusted to hell.
