  1. I have met John, he's unpretentious and tells it like it is. Some of us appreciate that. The paragraph you quoted earlier does not surprise me. I've heard similar statements from other people involved in the early development of the Z race car. I'm old enough to remember driving cars from that era. We are worlds away from what was available at that time. Your taking John's words out of context, read the whole book then comment.

Well, I went back to the local guy. He acted like he never saw me before and quoted $775.00 for wheels and tires no adapters. He told a customer before me that he had broke away from his adapter supplier because he wasn't happy with the quality. So I'll go to Modern Motorsports for adapters and Discount tires for 17" wheels and tires. The total should be right at $830.00 or go 16" and save $50.00, I'm leaning toward the 17" package.

Talked to MSA about the KONIG racer, it's a Honda wheel you have to use the spacers on. I talked to a local wheel guy about my dilemma he said he could beat any deal of the net. So I'll get back with him.

Thank's to all. I limped it in home on 15" 300zx wheels. I say limped literally by the time I got home it was losing air on the right rear where it rubbed the strut housing. I saw on another thread were a guy suggested shaving on the caliper housing as well. I'm thinking about the MSA 17" Konig Racer still need to talk to MSA about backspacing.
  6. So I bought a 240Z with the Modern Motorsports rear disc kit with the 240sx calipers. From your shortcuts I noticed you had to grind on the caliper. I was hoping to avoid that, anybody know if the MSA Racer 17"x7" wheels will fit this package without interference.

Frank13 Are you familiar with modern motorsports rear disc setup? I'm asking because I bought a 240 yesterday with his setup on the rear, and no wheels for the car. This didn't seem like a problem till I tried to mount a 14" 280zx wheel on the car and the calipers wouldn't let it on. I'm wondering if 15" wheels will work or if I need 16" or 17"?
  8. Prox Just stick some 16" wheels on with 50 series tires that 4.11 will be just fine.

Gav240z You are running lean or your running too much advance on your timing. Either way your on a fastrack to disaster. Check timing first (The cam co. sometimes specifies timing ). Then richen up your carbs by raising your needles. Ping is the enemy if you can hear it then you know one these conditions exists. Besides nothing uglier than piston ate up by detonation.

Go to cars.com and look at my "72" 240z it's lime yellow I'm in Indy.
  11. Your on the right track it's a fuel supply issue, do the kits. It will eliminate another variable.
  12. Joey It might come in handy down the road. They don't take up much room when you stand them on the bell housing. It could be the extra $250.00 for the car if you ever sell it. Mostly you should keep it because it came on the car originally.
