  1. I called Courtesy Nissan, MSA, and few other people......... No luck. But I found out Even BW T5 does not have this temp sensor like thing at the back..... The seller does not know the detail, but he strongly belives that it fits any 240Z, 260Z, and 280Z, and Zxs. But the question is what is this for...........It came from Nissan dealer old stock, he said...... Esprist
  2. Thank you for your comment. He said that he bought it from president of Z car club in San Diego area where he resides. I see where it connects to the drive shaft seems diffeent from regular 280ZX trans.......... Esprist
  3. Thanks Mike. Yes, that is the one. What do you think? It has 2 ears at shfter, and it kind'da looks like "B" Trans. What bothers me is that temp sensor at the back. Normally 280Z or 280ZX trans never come with one except 83 BW T5 one. Esprist
  4. I read your post before on the other transmission with different shifter area with different electric connectors. This one is the one I am considering buying off Zcars.com. This person claims that it is for his car 82 280ZX(81-82). What do you think? Esprist
  5. Can anyone identify this trans? It says" TA71B #3 " "7Y07349" and it has 2 ears at shifter. If this is for 81-82 ZX, why does it have oil temp sensor at the back as well as inspection hole at the bottom of bell housing like BW T5? Very confused here......... Esprist

DMV will not give out such info unless you are the leagal owner/resisterd owner of the vehicle. Now Carfax.com or Auto Check.com can locate the history of the car if you have a vehcle newer than 1980 in US(18 digit VIN). But there is a loop hole. If you know anyone with a dealer's licence, and have access to "DMV's print out" you can find out registration record by VIN (or license#. But please always put yourself in current owner'shoes. If you own a beatiful wife (car) and then some X girlfriend from nowhere track it down and talk to you.......It might not be appropriate.......... This is only my opinion...so please no offense here............ Esprist

Good point Mike! What if a car has non US spec genuine optional parts like: Fog lights, rear wing, spoiler, headlight covers, rally clock, foot rest、throttle handle for Series1? Do they deduct points for them at ZCCA ? People tend to forget what you like to do for your own car when it comes to car show. Esprist

I totaly agree with you Jim and Kats. otherwise these judges have to remove the paint and find out if this fender is for 70, 74 , or aftermarket. If you go to Concourse d'elegance or Pebble Beach show where you see million dollor cars, Most of these high end classics have "one off" fabricated body panels and stuff. Do judges care? Nop! Does it effect the value? Nop! If it is done professinally, that's what it counts in my opnion. First of all, many people try to put new/different motor.....,but the question is....Does that really solve its fundamental problems? I would like to share "Do it yourself" tip here....... 1. You remove the cowl, wiper motor & regulator assembly. (do not break all the snap rings and clips) 2. Take apart all joints of the regulator & clean with carb cleraner, then grease them up with high speed grease that you use for your wheel bearings. 3. Take apart motor and clean up brashes , gears, and all the contacts inside the relay(you have problem with this replay, and this is what brings wipers back to original position when it is turned off) 4. Paint or plate all the arms after removing rust off with steel wool. After this whole process, you can feel a significant different in smoothness of the wiper movement. Less resistance=less current draw from the motor. This costs under $10 including paint and grease. I hope this would answer your questions. Esprist
  12. Good additional info! I agree with you on using it for just parking light sake. Well, I always wonder there were any version that those lamps did not come with reflectors and come with parking lamp......I have never seen ones w/o the reflectors...... Esprist
  13. Well, regular parking lamp light bulb, I do not recall wattage...... Wirings are fine. No blown fuses or problems in last 3 years. By the way, LED is not for forever, and it is only bright to 1 direction. It is not as bright as conventional bulb during daytime either. But if you want to have your car look more modern, LED lights look great. Esprist
  14. I would like to talk share info about Rear Fog light that you can light up in 15 min. today. Many of you might already know, but I am sharing this info for many others. It cost under $20, and take only 5-10 min per side. There is an existing light socket hole between existing tail lamp holes. If you have Euro lamp, there is a plug that pops right out. Then if you go to Pep Boys, Auto Zone, Cragen, or Napa, you can buy this "marker light socket for Japanese cars" , and light bulbs, and cut-in-connector with gel coating. All of the should cost you under $20. (in my area, L.A.) Now all yougot to fo is to hook it up to existing tail lamp wires. No cutting-wires required. PLease look at the picture for a significant brightness! It lights up behind the reflector, but it still gives even brightness across the lamp housing. I have done this for few of my friends, and the cars look great. I know some people even go for LED converson.......But this is something that you might be able to do at low cost! Esprist
  15. What would you like to trade it for? Esprist
  16. Does anyone happen to have a Japanese RH drive model steering wheel, which has different steering spoke angle. (US ones are deeper) It is not a collectable or anything, but it gives a small driver a little room when the seat is all the at front. My wife is 4"10, and she likes original large diameter steering, but it is too close to her body when she slides the seat all the way up. I tried Datsun Competition steering wheel, which has same spoke angle as Japanese Fairlady Zs, but it was hard to steer for her due to its smaller diameter I would like to buy one. ......It does not have to have JDM horn botton, or anything. 17. Hello Randy, depending on your goal, but you could sand blast them, repair the dents, and painted with texture paint (only $6 at Home depot) shown in these pictures. These are my old pictures. Esprist

Just as a reference......... Here I saved some photos from an auction from few months ago. (So these pictures were taken by someone else and the item is not mine) But I hope these pictures will help you a bit to see what it looked like new in box. Esprist

I found 2 knobs in Japan. Both new. The shop wants 5500 Yen each Plus shipping. I checked Nissan List price from Dealer, it was 2800 Yen back in 80's . But I do not know which shape it is. If you are interested, I can have him ship it over here right away for $20 by express. Or I can have him put in my next shipment (End of March or April) so you do not have to pay $20 freight. It is still cheaper than making a mold in my opinion. No obligation. At least you can still get a new one. Esprist

Totally agree with you. As far as the seal part, I found that they have little open area at front bottom part of the lense. Is it water escape area? I have total of 2 new sets and 1 used one, and they all have this 1/2 inch opening on the seal. Esprist

I have a new old stock JDM headlight cover that were sitting in Japan for a long time in the original box. It came with "instruction paper" so I would like to share info about how to recreate brackets as close to original ones. As you can see, you buy a little bracket with 2 mm thickness and 1.9CM with. It is very cheap and zink plated one. You drill out 3 holes and tap the center one. Other outer ones, you enlarge (a bit) at the enterance. Screw are regular cad. plated wood screws. (I recomend you have 73 and up metal headlight bucket!) And use round head bolts to hold the covers in place. The bolts were zink plated(not chrome) . I just wanted to see if it was possible and easy enough for anyone. I am interested in your repro ones so I do not have to worry about replacement after all. Since aftermarket one retails for 22000Yen(about $230) is very poorly made, and never come with hardware nor intruction paper. I hope this info could help you all. Esprist

Few months ago, I found a very close thing to an original shift gromet at a local store. So I will share that info with everyone here. You can buy these at Home Depot, Lowes, and other major hardware store. See the picture. It is exactly the same design, shape, and size from outside. Spec is 0.71 CM (9/32 ODx 1/2 ID) Only difference is that bottom part is larger on the original one. So solution is to put another piece of the material(punched as to part) put it over from back side, so it will not slip off. It costs from $1.75-$2 range. Original material is a hard rubber, and this one seems slightly soft. But it appears the same. I know some of the members are looking for this for a long period of time. Esprist

Hello everyone. I guess some people here get very agressive interms of talking about people on ebay. For the battery cover set up, I paid $155(US) to a shop in Japan and bought 5 of these covers(old stock, see the parts labels) Plus Express shipping and custom/duty. I bought one for my car and another one for the member here. It is also NLA in Japan. I bought few extra as a part of the deal. (I put rest of 3 on a couple of website including Ebay) Ignition coil was on national back order when I called Courtesy, and then, I found 3 in Japan. I paid 22000Yen (About $220US) Plus freight. I am not buyig stuff from Courtesy, MSA, or Black Dragon and re-selling them like other guys mentioned here. Fortunately, I am not making my living out of selling stuff on Ebay. I normally buy few extra in case I cannot get another one down the road. I own an exporting bisiness here and Tokyo. I am not a liar, flaud, or scam. I really think we should use this website to talk about fun stuff and exchange info. It seems that some members enjoy getting on rumors. If the fact is not clear, we should be respectibale to each other. I understand some people have problem with the people selling stuff directly from other venders. I am wrinting this for clearfication purpose only. NOT wanting to put down anyone, so please understand. Thank you. Esprist
