I use heater hose. How many other methods are there? MOM
  2. Is your radar on, Alan?
  3. Reading back thru the thread, you mentioned that it was plug 5 and 6 that where fouling up. You wouldn't have the plug leads mixed up, would you? Just a thought!!!!

beandip, we have had this discussion many times. It's time to accept the fact that flat tops can be made to perform as good [and in my case] better than round tops. I for one run both [240 & 260] and can verify that once properly overhauled they do in fact perform better than roundtops. sblake's conspiracy theory may be valid, but who really cares, it's all been consigned to history. Why where they dumped? For the same reason roundtops where...outdated and superseded by FI. It's purely a personal view and I respect your opinion, however, you should also reciprecate and respect ours... Off my soapbox... MOM
  5. Ah...that's why we didn't see them over here. Wonder if 003 had them? Good one for Gav240 to pick up from and ask.
  6. Trying to work out where these actually fit... help me out please...
  7. You wouldn't have a link to that picture, Carl? MOM

obo or best offer closet to 7500. The rest is all negotiation.
  9. Why don't you go for a home grown version? Contact Len Brennan via the Vic Z site, he makes his own and at a very affordable price. MOM
  10. Look below my sig. MOM
  11. Oh well.... at least we concur..... MOM [ps try the capacitor]!
  12. Yes, reading back over this thread, I'm pretty convinced the problem is somewhere in the dizzy, may even be the advance mechanism. If the plate mechanism fails then it gives symptoms similar to this. Give the cap a try.
  13. I know it's a long shot, but I wonder if the capacitor might be "nearly" shot? It's been the solution for many "strange" problems. Being a buck part its an in-expensive long shot. Good luck and keep us informed.. MOM

Hi Alan, thanks for the info, I wasn't sure exactly what happened to 8075 after The Dulux. I had thought it may have made an appearence in Europe as the Oz rallies where generally considered a "shakedown" for the Northern Hemisphere events, so any info that you may have about it is appreciated as I've exhausted all my contacts down here. I'm intending to use 8075 as a RHD replica in general, similar to what Guus has done. If you remember [although, we do ramble on a bit] I asked in a previous thread about RHD works rally cars with the Monte` front. 8075 was the only one I could find that was in Aus and had a history that was applicable. I'm awaiting any further info with baited breath.... Cheers Mike PS, perhaps you could revive the Dulux thread if you have any more photos, info etx about 8075. In that manner all info is kept together. MOM

Yes, I meant the "warehouse". I'm interested in any photos of SA 8075. Bumper brackets have been re-designed by #2 son and are a WIP. Hopefully, I 'll be able to start work on the replica after Xmas. Cheers MOM

Some great shots there, Alan. You're one lucky fella being able to hop over to Japan for this. One question: Photo d 153R: The black bonnet is reminisant of the Safari style. Was this an actual paint style that was available for the DM or is it a "freelance"? Did you visit the museum again? Any more shots of the "works" rally cars? Mike
  17. me tooo. And I have to lengthen the message to at least 10 characters or the ***** won't accept it......
  18. Gee, isn't it difficult to advise someone when you know precious little about the car in question! Zeds are like women, they need TLC, this will be the start of a life long affair, sorry to hear it hasn't started off with a bang! Messenger, where all having a stab in the dark here. Problems that have been known to create running difficulties, these may not be the solution or in the worst case scenario, they all may be...hope not in this case. Try a compression test first, should be around 160/180 IIRC in all cylinders. It's really the difference between the pots that will give a ring problem away. Remember though, fouling if equal between all plugs would indicate rich running, although 5 mins and fouling would indicate something more serious such as a ring or valve stem seals. The comp test will give you a much better idea as to where to go next.. Good luck MOM
  19. Are all the plugs fouled the same? Also try a compression check, after all the sitting a ring may have frozen, causing oil fouling.

In 260 speak. Factory air had this installed.
  21. Flange joining the tailshaft to diff.
  22. Zedrally replied to will_sphyrna's post in a topic in Help Me !!
Yes, I can see that. I really didn't think there was as much slack in it though. Would be a good start for a home variable valve timing setup! MOM
  23. Zedrally replied to will_sphyrna's post in a topic in Help Me !!
No, I think you are confusing the scinterlater with the damper.....
  24. Zedrally replied to will_sphyrna's post in a topic in Help Me !!
How is the distibutor drive related to the damper [harmonic balancer]? Isn't the distributor driven by the oil pump? TIA MOM
  25. This could be caused by the universals on the tail shaft. I replaced one, got rid of the clunk and now have a grinding noise from 40-65kmh. The other [uni] was line ball, but I know replacing it will solve the problem. HIH MOM
