Hitachi "SU" part numbers
I've noticed that MT & AT have different p/nums. I've never noticed any difference between these carbs, but now I'm not sure? Is there a difference? If so what is it? MOM

240Z/240K Fuel Guage reading incorrectly
The 240's down here [Oz] didn't come with all the fancy plumbing, which in a fashion is a relief. So that solution is applicable to all zeds[not that that was implied]. The gauges in zeds work via some type of heat transfer. There is a coil that heats up a metal strip which then expands and moves the indicator via a system of levers and pinion gears. [if memory serves me correct, if I'm wrong discard this as rantings of an old fella]. This would be one good reason NOT to solder the contact mentioned by Daniel. Cleaning the gap would be a good place to start, I just learned to live with it. I don't suppose there are any Instrument Repairs on the list are there? MOM

240Z/240K Fuel Guage reading incorrectly
I'm in complete agreeance with Carl on this. Simply reset your tripmeter every time you fill the tank and you will never run out! 2/3=Full Empty means I've travelled 340km around town or 400 in the country!

My New 260z
Well done! It's great to find a zed in condition like this. Any idea which was the original colour? I thought red as I was opening the first photos, but was surprised to find green at the end. The steering wheel insert is similar to one that I salvaged from a 510 several years ago, bit different from the normal "z" one, but still a period piece. MOM

Color Choice
Porsche Guards Red is a pretty popular choice. Although, BRG is pretty hard to beat! Always a difficult discision, if all else fails white..... Good luck on your choice... MOM

Clutch Master Cylinder Identification
Well it looks the same as the one in the 73, never gave it any thought as to OEM or AM ! The mention of 5/8" runs shivers up my back though?

Nissan Y44 V8
Congratulations & well done! I realise how difficult a Tarmac Rally can be to win, so it's a well deserved trophy. Guess it's time to put the 6 back into the zed now, isn't it! MOM

260z 2+2 urgent info
Interesting comment? Who is currently campaigning a 2+2 in rallies? Perhaps you can PM me with their names so I can contact them. I'd be most interested in the setup???? It certainly would be more stable given it's overall extra length, but the weight......errrrrrrr. MOM

stopping after 2km
My bet is the condensor, I had a similar problem. Had spark when cranking, engine started then inexplicably would stop. Puzzled a few until we looked at the condensor lead, the vaccum advance interferred and caused a open circuit when running [not]. HIH MOM

260z 2+2 urgent info
One of the works rally cars had injection [8075, AlanT will correct me if I'm wrong], however that was a 240. 260's never came into Aus with FI, A 280 swap would be the most viable way to upgrade into FI. This is an acceptable model runon in Group 3C PRC Rally Cars or HRC4, note you would need to have the car log booked as a 280z. For the life of me I can't see why anyone would want to race a 2+2, although I had toyed with the notion of hacking one up into a rally car. I gave this idea up as sheer lunacy due to the extra weight... HIH MOM

Centre Console
I have a brand new centre consol replacement that was made for me several years ago. MY cost was at that time $300.00 It is a custom fit and may require a little fiddling to make it suitable for you "beast". It's surplus to my requirements and I am offering it for sale. Please note it has never been used as I decided to construct a wood consul as a replacement. All reasonable offers will be considered. May be inspected in Oakleigh, 3166 during normal business hours. PM any offers or further info. MOM

Crank pulley bolt
I can really feel the agony your going through here... Unfortunately, it's down to brute strength now. Sledge hammer or similar, long bar and some sweat. Good luck... MOM

Crank pulley bolt
Is the cam shaft/timing chain still in position? If so then you can [2 person job], locate the 2 "fins" on the cam and secure with a adjustable wrench. Then using a long bar undo the crank bolt...

Hazard lights in Aussie Zeds
I've never seen them on zeds before 77? If you're old enough, you would remember the traffic in the 70's was negligible compared to today, hence not considered a required road-worthy item. A similar comparision would be the fitment of parking lights to JDM cars... MOM

Centre Caps for Aussie OEM Zed Mags..
I've lost my zed centre caps. You know the ones with the "Z". Does anyone have any ideas for a suitable replacement? Are there any AM replacements or would there be a market for new replacements? MOM
