Driving Light Mounts ~ Safari style
Well, I've finally taken the big step and made a start. The bumper was easier to cut than I first anticipated, for anyone following this, I made the cut halfway between the existing over-rider hole and the closest bumper stud [to the over-rider hole]. The cut was made @ 90 degrees to the front edge. I have planned to drop the front bumper by 150mm measured from the top of the bumper to top of centre bumper. Stay tuned for photo's of the brackets... MOM

Wonder if we get a volume discount if several of us buy one? MOM

removing bumper-mounted indicators
It can be done, the 240 is running one pair of each, From memory I had to modify/make a divider between the second bulb. HIH MOM

Halz, the wiring exists, but have look at your len's. There are 2 types of parkers/indicators len's. Type 1 does not have the "proper" connections/interior for the flasher. Type 2 does. You may need to upgrade to a set from a later 260. MOM

2004 Olde BP Rally
A provisional update... The zeds have failed this year, however the provisional winners are at least in a 1600! The wet conditions apparently resulted in many mass boggings, some not seen for many years. One crew called for RACV service to only have the service man refuse to use a 4wd. A tractor was called for and also got bogged. A second tractor managed to pull out both. With conditions as sevre as this the Directors cancelled the last Division, this would not have aided any zeds in winning, so it's really academic. Roll on 2008 and the 50th anniverary. [incidentally, the Alpine is set to return in 2005]. MOM

Roadster Site is Online
Are you meaning that the page needs moving with the bottom bars? ie. opening up bigger than full screen? If so then I'm having the same problem. [not on the front page]. MOM

Key codes
Very, very strange..... There must be some logic behind this, I just can't think of any good reason for having 2 different methods of locking. Wonder what the news across the pond might be? Or Japan maybe, Kats, Alan T? MOM

Key codes
Well, what can I say..... Ozzie ones have a cut on one side only for ignition and double sided for doors, hatch and glove box. MOM

Switch Hoods
Just shows the differences between models in different countries..... Sorry for the reply about the 280 hood, we never had 280 in Australia, so I'm sorry if I led you [& others] astray. 260 Hoods for models delivered in Oz up to 78 will fit, go figure? MOM

Never heard of that before, Vicky? Anyone else have similar locks like this? MOM

a cheaper solution wanted
Most of these replies are becoming emotive and serve little purpose. The 100 bucks isn't the real issue here, the question was "is there an alternative". A simple yes or no would suffice, without the need to graphically illustrate the reply.

Switch Hoods
Even if it's vented it will fit.

Really? Glove box. I've just learnt something new, must have a look tonight for mine and write them down somewhere safe [like my journel on this site]! Not that this helps, but at least you don't need to go through the pain of drilling out the ignition. Can you remove the rear hatch lock [it's the easiest], then off to the locksmith and he may be able to work from that? MOM

a cheaper solution wanted
I had a similar problem, however mine was a split in the hose. Some that read this may think of the solution as being inadequate, however, I gave it much thought. With the tank out, I removed the hose and throughly cleaned the outside and dried it. Then I coated the outside of the hose with a layer of black silicon sealent AND proceded to wrap roller bamdage around the split, carefully applying more silicon as required. Once dried, It porved to be effective, has lasted over 4 years to this date. Frankly, I had no idea if it would work or not at the time I did this and suspect that now I have written this up it will fail tonight. Regards MOM

Driving Light Mounts ~ Safari style
I'd been thinking that seeing I was going down this path, then to be historically accurate I should copy the original. My thinking was along the lines of a replica of a works car, rather than a privateer, however in the end it doesn't matter [i won't be using razor blades on my wrists]! Calling Alan.....radar on........ Else, I'll be the privateer with an original RHD Monte Carlo Zed..... MOM

Mags and dashboard info
Be careful in using different width's front & rear. Different sizes front & rear can be un-roadworthy, putting your car off the road if pulled up. I reackon you could get away with 1" bigger on the rear, I did for quite a while but eventually changed back to the same width for controllability. Good luck.... MOM

What's this bung for?
Isn't it for the second air lift [olio, what ever that later zeds had]? Will check tonight as sure I have one each side?

Driving Light Mounts ~ Safari style
One last question before the angle grinder comes out. My 240 is a RHD car, did the Monte Carlo bumper ever appear on a "works" RHD vehicle? MOM

Driving Light Mounts ~ Safari style
Thanks Guus, I was looking through a Rally Book last night which also showed what I thought to be indicators in a vertical position next to the over rider. Can you confirm this? Mike

Driving Light Mounts ~ Safari style
Hi Guus, I've revived this thread as I have made a start on the bumper..finally. I'm using parts from the 260 to make the front brackets, however, I'm having difficulty in determining the drop [depth as you have called it]. Photos of the works car looks like it might be 50mm or there about? Would this be close? Mike...
