Huh? I'm confused. How do they blink? Does this have something to do with the 2 batteries or is it the way they are wired up?
  2. Zedrally replied to PrOxLaMuS©'s post in a topic in Electrical
Wow, what will they think of next, Alfa, would the Leds flash half as much if you used only one battery, or does using 2 make them brighter?
  3. Zedrally replied to PrOxLaMuS©'s post in a topic in Electrical
OK, maybe I should have started by asking what is a LED! Nop, never heard of it and haven't heard of any zed conversions either.
  4. Zedrally replied to PrOxLaMuS©'s post in a topic in Electrical
Now this is an interesting idea! Has anyone done a conversion?
  5. Won't try to correct you as I was going from memory as well. The photo was in How to Hot Rod & Race your Datsun or the other How to book. I think the USD20K + price killed any ideas of mass production! If I remember correctly it did little by itself to lift performance anyhow!

Well, we've all seen the photo's and we now it existed [even if it was pre-production]. If it wasn't a ZGRS30 then what was it?
  7. Plugs are located on the top of the head.
  8. Zedrally replied to Alfadog's post in a topic in Carburetor Central
If the plugs are black & sooty, then it's either to rich or it could be ignition. Thats another common problem, point gap. Check that as well, after all if he is getting weak spark, then you get incomplete combustion and hesitation.

Yes, Repco, KMart etc will have one. There seemed to be a production fault with the ones that fitted on the L series. They would after a short period of time seize up. I haven't had much success with any of them and now run both cars less thermos. It's a bit cooler in winter here in Melbourne but I would think you would have optimum temp in NSW!
  10. Well there is a cross flow head developed for the L series. It was from memory a twin cam and at it's time cost USD 20K + I think there is a snap of one in the gallery somewhere

Oh I hate writing this, but are you sure you put the thermostat in the right way? A quick way to check is to leave it out and see if the engine still overheats.

Alpha, Su's don't go out of wack suddenly. How long has he [?] been running like this. If it's only just started, I would doubt that it's mixture. Pull the plugs and have a look see!

Ah yes, you're quite right on this. However as all my zeds are 73+ it's never affected me. So whats the story pre73 owners, do you need to have the hole re- reamed or can you apply a bit of muscle and tighten them down without the reaming....

Sounds a bit like my Norweigian Forest Cat, given to me as a female only to be discovered later as a male and still called her, she or it, but never him!

Have you looked at your fuel filter again? Sounds like it may have picked up gunk from the tank again!
  16. Zedrally replied to Z-point's post in a topic in Open Chit Chat
I checked my spare and it came with nut. Sounds like you may have been sold an incomplete part. Why not return it and have the dealer get the complete unit?
  17. Zedrally replied to zerozero's post in a topic in Carburetor Central
Ah so Mr Toyota! So they had a cross flow head on a 6!
  18. Zedrally replied to zed240au's post in a topic in Australia & NZ
www site maybe? Why not enter the details into the coming events thread Sounds like a great clubbie, the government is doing heaps to get Vic clubs to run events on the other side of the pond, unfortunately it runs to close to the Alpine and Rally of Melbourne.

Hi Mick, 'Who is the promoter?

Quoting from the other uploaded photo in your gallery [looking in with cover off]. Whilst the aircleaner is Nissanish, it's definately been hacked up to get these SU's to match, and not a good hack either! So what do we now know. 1. Air cleaner possible Nissan. 2. Manifold possibly British. 3. Definately not a L24/6/8/ series head. 4. Opinions vary as to the SU's [Hitachi or British or whatever]. 5. No one has any idea what type of car/motor these where fitted on, but I would be inclined to think British. Anyone for a game of darts!

I must be missing something, why aren't these carbs Hitachi's? What do other''s think as I think they are! I had thought that the original question in the tread was what head did it fit on? I would think that you could safly say not a Nissan one, but what?
  24. Zedrally replied to Zedrally's post in a topic in Open Chit Chat
You know, I must be going bonkers, but I can see the 2+2 G nose with it's top cut off!

Forces the airflow through the radiator rather than around it. MN
