Manafold questions.
Quoting from the other uploaded photo in your gallery [looking in with cover off]. Whilst the aircleaner is Nissanish, it's definately been hacked up to get these SU's to match, and not a good hack either! So what do we now know. 1. Air cleaner possible Nissan. 2. Manifold possibly British. 3. Definately not a L24/6/8/ series head. 4. Opinions vary as to the SU's [Hitachi or British or whatever]. 5. No one has any idea what type of car/motor these where fitted on, but I would be inclined to think British. Anyone for a game of darts!

Manafold questions.
I must be missing something, why aren't these carbs Hitachi's? What do other''s think as I think they are! I had thought that the original question in the tread was what head did it fit on? I would think that you could safly say not a Nissan one, but what?

Possible damage?
Forces the airflow through the radiator rather than around it. MN

Manafold questions.
Oh my god the're inclined as well! Absolutely got me, wonder if they might be zed SU on a manifold for another manufacturer? possibly English???? After all no one said it was a 240Z that crashed!

First look at my engine...
Bah, be nice. Those can be re-built and will work as good as roundtops at a fraction of the price!

Manafold questions.
Hi Royce, Simon was querying the manifold. I must say it is interesting, I've certainly never seen anything like it and could only guess it may have been associated with a 240K or GL? That would mean a different head to the types we are used to! Crossflow, the mind boggles...... I wonder if the SU's are actually Zed SU's? I have seen many zeds running around with smaller SU's from SSS, with owners thinking that they where the correct ones! Measure the head side of the carb body if you have time.

Early 2+2's
Guus, Thats wonderful about the emblems. I never expected a 2+2 badge on the front grill. Interesting that while they never sold any of these g-nose 2+2's they did make it onto the road via the constabularly., at least thats the way I read it? Any of them still around I wonder? Maybe they had the metal nose? Just as an aside, I looked at mu nose today and noticed "rust " marks, I'll inspect it in greater depth tonight [if I remember] as I seem to recall the attachment lugs [fittings] seeming to be metal underneath. A magnet will reveal all later......

Flat top carbs and I need help
One last thing, Don't forget to plug the vac lines that go to the choke pots. Unless the carbs have been O/Hauled before then I would think that the float level would be pretty right, but once you remove them it's better to double check now. Buy a machinists steel rule, not as handy as a dial caliper but cheaper.

Flat top carbs and I need help
Again from memory, The accelerator pump vac line is internal. If you haven't removed it as yet from the carb body then you won't see it. These lines are small are very important to clean completly. My kit didn't come with a ruler either, I used a dial caliper to check the float level.

Early 2+2's
Just need to clarify the photo I posted. It is NOT a metal Nose, simply just the G-Nose that I had obtained recently. sj you raise an interesting point about the metal nose. Another scenario:~~~~~~ It may be posible that it is some type of composite metal/glass contruction. Unfortunately, until one actually sights one then all we have is conjecture. PS. Alan, even the 1 armed man might be persuaded into a halfway point with this info! PPS. Hope that floppy turns up

Flat top carbs and I need help
I omitted one thing in the last post and that was those "choke" dashpots where the only thing that I found didn't have a major effect on performance. In other works if you disconnect them there is no noticable effect.

Flat top carbs and I need help
Victor, I'm doing this from memory as the car is at home, I'm at work! From memory the dashpot you refer to isn't actually the acelerator pump. It actually has sometrhing to do with choking. There is a "U" shape vac line that contects from the top of the carb to the "pot". The accelerator pump is the round part held onto the body of the carbs by 3 screws. The rebuild kit contains the rubbers, seals to rebuild these. Becareful what you remove as far as smog gear, personally I wouldn't remove the water as it has a cooling effect when in heat. Mike

My G-Nose
Came as part of a shed clearing that I partook in. $200 gave me a complete 2+2, a shed full of new and used parts, transmissions etc, plus as a bonus the nose. A once in a life time opportunity.

Carbouratted 3.0 litre?
Ah, OK then, I didn't realise it was already in car. What, which car etc..... Also you can check the diff if you can get the boths wheels up. They both should turn in the same direction if it's LS, else if they turn in opposite then it's standard, can't help you with ratio though!
