  1. No idea if it ever existed apart from the V6 EFI. If it did exist then it would probably have been down draft of some description or triple SU!

ooooooh....... Nice yellow there biker....... Where did you get the strut bars from????
  3. Oh well Gav, take heart, at least you've got one. My poor 240 hasn't at all. Personally, if it performs anything like the 260 version, then it's as useless as...you know the rest. On the other hand if it's a functioning light you'r after then add an adjustable rally light.
  4. Can't understand how you lot missed it? I rated it 6 out of 5, if only........

I for one would love to have one. Remember seeing this on Zhome several years ago, do you have the original flyer George?

Was this operation done with engine in car or out?

You're right on the money with that. Not only did they lose there investments, but all the knowledge. How come Duff hasn't been mentioned yet?

I would guess the one that has the largest area? Can everyone go back to the're heads and please measure.

Eric, it all depends on your use. Obviously, it's not the tranny you want to run, shame you're not in Aus, otherwise I'd be tempted to make you an offer. It's ideal for my use [Rally], unfortunately the freight would be prohibitive. As to how to shift it, get a shifter from another trans, and yes you do make perfect sense, you may as well stay with a stock trans. Mike
  10. Only in the US.

  12. How can the owner prove it's a Samuri? It looks pretty stock to me, but then again unless it's got a nose......

Does this mean our cars are to cheap down here?

Hi all, I deliberatly posted that question as I have a vested interest in part of the outcome. I probably should throw in another definition that we can throw back and forth in the ether. Works Replica. My reason for raising the notion is that with the lack a "works rally" cars in Australia [not just Nissan or zed related], the Historic Rally Association is floating the idea of creating a category which is recognised as a Historic Works Replica. Contary to belief there are a handful of 240's rallied spec'd and complete with log booked Rally History, looking very much like some of the works cars to boot! These we call privateers. They occaisionally make an appearance and are categorised as PRC Vehicles, losing any Historic appeal that they have. To overcome this the HRA is seeking ideas how a works replica category can "slot" into it's categories. Not just the datto's but all pre80 Rally Cars that had a rally history. As you can imagine, it's pretty expensive to go out and buy any "works" car, so as an alternative it's been suggested that a replica category be established for those vehicles that may fit in. But now the complication, how do you define replica? Obviously works shell is out, but what do others see a replica as? Historically, we can't make a works car, nor a semi works [still not sure of that definition]so what's left!!!!!
  15. So the conversion wasn't just performed on 240's. It was available on 260's as well. If it was all un-documented then it would be interesting how the seller of that car can prove it's providence? arse facing the air, cigarette in mouth. Sounds pretty much like the guy who invented the sand blasting method of polish/porting heads in situ! ROFL

Didn't think there where any factory sponsored zeds out there. Definately a lot of privateers, but I wouldn't have thought these crews had access to the special "works " shell? In this case I would think "works replica"would be more appropriate. Time for another history lesson, Alan.....

what do you exactly mean by semi works cars? They either are or they aren't, are they? Great photos anyway, makes me want to get the rally car out again, shame we can't replicate the snow scenes here!
  18. This is probably one of those questions that Alan could chip in on. All that I know of the Samuri is that it was a UK conversion? of a 240. Someone made mention of it in a thread last year but if that's the photo of the car in question, then it isn't doing it any justice at all.
  19. Oh boy, I'll start ducking for cover now!!!! Rather than you ask I'll jump in first. Firstly the greatest difference is that the mixture cannot be adjusted during tune-up. There is one other difference that being an addition of a vaccum type acelerator pump, once again when properly O/Hauled presents no difficulty. Flat tops are factory preset on the lean side, they can however be adjusted during a re-build, simply by altering the float level. I've been running both types of carbs in different conditions. On the street and cruising the flats are great, economical and responsive. Note though they have been re-built. Do not expect as new response from a 30 year old carbie that hasn't been re-built. [which is one reason I think everyone cans them]? The Kits are available and if you follow the instructions then I see no reason why you can't have a go at it yourself. As I wrote earlier, if you're looking at sending them out then you may as well change over to rounds, ifyou don't understand carbie's then take the easy way out at this stage, swap over, keep those flats and one day buy the kit and have a go at a re-build.
  20. Because they don't understand them!

Can't let that go away without a reply.... 280zx compared to a 260 2+2, you're joking aren't you, tell me you are, please! There is no comparision except that they have a seat in the rear ........
  22. If you want to go the send out way, then you may as well get a set of round tops. On the other hand a re-build kit is available for flat tops, it's cost is considerably less than $900US and regardless of what others say, flat tops if they have been re-built as per manufactures instructions [ie follow the book correctly], will perform better than round tops! At the end of the day the choice is yours. Good luck.
  23. Cost me roughly $400, that included new valves, guides, seats & machining. Possibly less if your head is in good shape. But why do you want to run un-leaded? Personally, I'll swear by Shell LRP, and if I really want a blast then I'll top up with Optimax. HIH
  24. Hi guy's Time to shake up the Rally Forum and get rid of some cob webs. It's been a while since we had a rally discussion, so I'll fire it up. Although Australia based, Victoria particularly, I thought I would give this event a plug, [mainly because I'm directing it, so anything is fair game!] and who knows maybe I might see some other zeds cruising around in this. The 2003 Shortest Day Navigational Trial is combined with the in-augeral Historic Rally Association All Bitumen Tour. It is being held on Sunday 29th June and entries are now being accepted for either the event or tour. The Event is based on a 200km Navigational Trial, comprising some of the better bitumen and gravel roads West of Melbourne. Starting at 10am, crews will be dispatched at 1 minute intervals with pre-plotted instructions. The Trial is expected to take most crews 5 hours to complete. The Tour is designed as an introductory navigational event with all crews given pre-plotted and complete idiot proof instructions [i may regret writing this as experiance dictates that nothing that is given to a rally crew is idiot proof] :stupid: . The Tour is all Bitumen with some great stretches and hill climbing over windy roads. This would be an ideal tour for any zed heads in Victoria who just want to get out and have a drive. Entry to the Trial is restricted to CAMS 2NS Licence or higher, while the Tour is restricted to any member of a CAMS Affiliated Car Club. Entry fee being $50AUD for either the Tour or the Event. If there are any Vic's out there that would like to run contact me ASAP as the fields are limited. [The Shortest Day 2001 sold out]. Mike
  25. Welcome to the European community of ex-pats in Australia......... ROFL
