Check out this thread. http://www.classiczcars.com/forums/showthread.php?t=15179&highlight=led+lights He specificaly mentions and shows his prototype for the map light. Haven't heard anymore since then, perhaps he can enlighten (no pun intended) us....

  3. Zedrally replied to suzook86's post in a topic in Interior
I thought someone had done write up on this? Anyone tried search?
  4. Zedrally replied to Aussie Zed's post in a topic in Wheels & Brakes
Some pads must be made of different materials or made differently then. Which pads don't squeal?
  5. Zedrally replied to Aussie Zed's post in a topic in Wheels & Brakes
Why is it that you get brake squeal? Is it the pads, wear of the disc, weather conditions or what? Arne , you,ve worked in the industry why is it so?
  6. Hi Alan, Knew your radar would be on and you would turn up. Got the tea on and crumpets buttered? Unfortunately you reply doesn't answer the question that I poised. " Did the LHD S-130 have an L in it's model prefix"? Call me stupid if you like, however I can't find any reference to LHD export models to the US in your reply, else it's become so completely buried in the thread that I've missed it.:stupid: Arne suggests that the L is included, however is unsure. Quote from your last post: I actually listed up ALL of the Japanese-market S130 models in that thread, as follows: Yes, you did, however it was the model prefix of the US model that I was querying in this thread, just a simple answer to the question such as a yes would have been sufficient. Hope you don't have a fit after reading this, remember to take a aspirin and have a lay down if it all becomes to much.............:classic:
  7. Ah, I knew I had read about the "U" somewhere. Thanks to Alan T we raise the subject again.... *HLS30 = Export model "240Z" for Left Hand Drive markets ( notably USA / North American market ). Correctly termed "HLS30-U" by the factory. The entire thread is located here. http://www.classiczcars.com/forums/showthread.php?t=4948&highlight=production+dates Still doesn't clear up the S130 question......
  8. Sorry Arnie, but you have me confused. I thought that there was an "L" included in the US imports. for example HLS30 and an "U" as well somewhere to indicate a US import. Are you saying that US imported S130 are prefixed HS130 or HLS130? I'm sure your aware these are JDM cars that I originally asked about and wasn't aware that the 2.8L engine option was available in Japan, in fact my knowledge of the S130 series is seriously deficient. Perhaps we need a S130 forum to educate us all or better still the long promised Nissan Family Tree complete with all model designations!
  9. That can't be right, otherwise all 240's have been running 2.8L engines since '69!
  10. Richard, Is your Zx a S130 or HS130?
  11. Zedrally replied to MikeW's post in a topic in Open Chit Chat
I asked Mike about this in an earlier thread. I haven't recieved a response yet! MOM

Huh, if it was my first post then the question that was asked was never answered. 1600 posts with this one, I'm rather surprised that I qualified for the top 20!
  13. The other interesting point is the VIN. HS130 xxxxxxxxx. Wasn't the H prefix reserved for export models?
  14. Just in case anyone is interested in this car (I was). I had a friend who knows his zeds look at it for me. This is his reply... Hi Mike I had a look at it yesterday its abit rusty in all the usual places but has a really bad spot on top of rear window where the roof/hatch and window meet its full of bog and hard to see where the rust starts and finishes .The hatch is rusty and has been previously been repaired and bottmof both doors and underneith battery tray usual spots are rusty . The car lives at Queenscliff during the day which accounts for the excessive rust. I didnt bother to drive it as I was disapointed but everything was there but looked its age I guess it would be a good resto if the price is right!
  15. Any chance that any of you guys that have e-bay access asking the seller to post a pic of the VIN tag?
  16. Zedrally replied to TomoHawk's post in a topic in Electrical
There is no ground for the sender or pump, probably for that matter the tail lights. All wiring on the zed is 2 wire, with the switch in the return path. ie Negative There are however chassis connections form the -ve side of the battery which ensure the chassis at 0 voltage. The chassis isn't the return path for any electrical services. It's similar to house wiring in that the negative is grounded to earth. ie Ground.
  17. wow, I have the another car feeling. Anyone know the seller, I dispise e-bay so I won't bid, I do however want the car......

The needles are fitted to the piston. You can easily remove these with the carbs still on the manifold. I think you mean the float tap ( for want of better words, I doing this from memory)!. To change these over you do need to remove the float.
  19. Zedrally replied to aldersonr's post in a topic in Help Me !!
It sounds like the pin that holds the floats in is frozen, it will require a little persuation to free up. A word of advice. Once you have the floats in be 150% certain that the level is correct. If to low the mixture will be to lean, likewise to high-to rich. You must get this right first time (unless you enjoy pulling carbies, of course)! For cleaning I used an ultrasonic cleaner. It was the only method I could find that could get into all those nooks & crannies, I guess if you have time then soaking in carb cleaner, blowing out under air pressure will eventually get the same result. I'm not sure if any differences exist between LHD & RHD Flat Tops, so any help that I'm offering is for the RHD version. There is another member on the list (from the US) who re-built his, search my posts and you should find more info. I won't be back online until Monday (Australia Time), which is your Sunday PM. Good luck and feel free to ask any more questions.

Regardless what other members on this board say, they can be serviced. I've serviced mine successfully. If you follow the instructions to the letter, then you shouldn't have any problems. I must ask why you have decided to replace the floats? Unless they are holed and the float is sunk, there is little to be gained by a changeover. FYI. The mixture is set by float adjustment, there is no method of setting the mixture with the carbs complete and set up on the manifold. There is a power assist valve that has seals that fail after 30 years. It's the most common problem with these carbs. Easy to fix, yet very few peolpe understand them. I take it you have purchased the overhauled kits for these? I'll post more info tomorrow. MOM
  21. Amazombi, You don't mention where your zed is from. If it's a RHD ie HS-30 or derivitive, it won't have the door plate on the front door jamb. This was perculilar to HLS-30 models.
  22. Hi millsan1, You may find those questions are better asked at hybridz, not that we don't mind you asking here, it's just that there aren't many members with turbo and after market experiance here. Now watch & wait for all those sleepers to start replying........
  23. Or check out this site: http://www.viczcar.com/forums/viewforum.php?f=19 There is an immaculate head turning 240 just listed.....
  24. Your location would be advisable!
  25. Gav wrote: Now a 240K coupe on the road. That's a rare sight. I remember seeing one about 7 years ago, last time I ever saw one. There is one used as a daily driver in Oakleigh, done up pretty neatly as well! Can't agree with your other statements either. The S-30 in Australia is generally undervalued. If you would like to see any standard zeds (apart from suspension), there are quite a few in HRC2 Category. These generally command prices around $17-25k when they exchange hands. Not daily drivers, however they are kept very factory with only minor modifications. Do not confuse these with PRC or Classic Rally Cars (HRC4&5 from memory) which can be modified. Incidentally, my 240 is running it's original engine, I'm pretty sure there are many more out there as well! FWIW
