Nis-san or Knee-san
Hi all, I was viewing a DVD the other night which was of English [uK] origin. The first thing that I noticed was the pronounciation of Nissan. It got me thinking as to how it was actually pronounced. I say Niss-an whereas the English comentator pronounced it Knee-san. Which would/is be correct and has anyone got another way of pronounciation? MOM

Can you explain the advantage in having hydraulic lifters in a early L series engine? I don't understand solid/hydraulic hybrid, surely they either are one or the other?

Original Key Blanks
I think you will find that the key was also used in the 240K and possibly the 510, that being the case it would be an N for Nissan. Just out of interest, my 240 key was used last week to open a customers Toyota, so I wouldn't be surprised if it actually was the logo of some obscure Japanese Lock Company!

help with struts
To my knowledge, Koni's are no longer made to suit. Bilsteins required massive strut alterations. Most guy's here seem happy with Tokicos or KYB's. Use the search fuction for more detailed info.... MOM

HS30 CD Parts Catalog.
Hi all Right Hand Drivers. I have been fortunate is obtaining the Fairlady Z parts catalog on CD from Sakijo. This covers the S-30, HS-30 & PS-30 models in pdf files, up to 1973. Also included [on separate files], are catalogs for GS-30 up to '74 and S-30/ S-31 [haven't heard of S31 before]. No doubt AlanT will enlighten us about this model! If anyone in OZ would like a copy, I'm happy to copy and mail them to you. $10 AUD should cover costs such a CD, post & packing. PM for any further details. MOM

One cam tower shimmed
I know this is off topic [slightly], but I wondering if there were different cam towers with differnt model heads? I've always assumed all towers were identical. If they were, then how one managed to get shortened is most interesting!

One cam tower shimmed
The stock pad should be OK. The shim only brings the tower to the same height as the others. You can check by using a permanent black marker pen on the cam lobe. Rotate the cam several times and check the wear on the lobe. It should be even on both sides. If it isn't then you will need to adjust by using different pads.

One cam tower shimmed
Given what you've just written, I would guess that the head is a "bitza" made up from at least 2 heads. As long as the cam rotates freely and the wipe pattern on the cam lobe is even, then the head is usable.

One cam tower shimmed
Be very very careful here. Any alterations to the geometry have been made for a reason. I'm confused why only one tower has been shimmed, perhaps we need more info on the engine. Was it running before in this condition & did you have the head sent out. In any case, if you choose to remove the shim you may [will] find that the cam will not rotate freely. My advice would be to leave it alone. HIH

L 24 engine
I for one was interested in learning that an oil cooler was available as a factory option, also that one could order an export model in Japan to your specifications (if I read that right). Thanks again Alan for some great insight. PS. Halz, I'll bet those items work equally well on both sides of our coast (east & west) just as well.......... MOM

Supercharge whine, but, I don't have a supercharger.
When I read supercharger whine, the first thing in my mind was a seized fan clutch. Worth checking although you seem to be postive it's a suspension problem......
