  1. Bruce, That was exactly my point... We've repaired, replaced and re-built nearly ever part on these cars, so at what point does the word original no longer describe the vehicle? sorry for the thread hijack, I'll ask the mods to split it.... Mike
  2. Well, the engines are pretty bullet proof, it's everything around it that either rust's or fails in some way! Did you ask him if it was still the original engine? At what point does the engine become not original would be the question I'd be asking? My L24 has so far had 3 heads, 2 alternators, bottom end refreshed, lost count of plugs, points and leads, numerous radiators, water pumps, filters...the list goes on doesn't it.but it's still the same engine......guess the fact that is was bored out to 2.7 (or thereabouts) in it's early life should,'t matter either.... Interesting question none the less.....

I suspect you would only encounter problems if you sent them an invoice for advertising! Could be worth a try, though.... The worst scenario is that they may ask you to remove them, highly unlikely.

Well, that's just it.... Aussie car salesman selling a 280Z. We never got them down here. I didn't watch the entire vid. so I might be out of school here, where is the car exactly, Oz or USA?
  5. Now you have me confused. Is you're dizzy electronic or points?
  6. My bet (if it's not an electronic dizzy), is the capacitor. Had similar problem years back, would start and idle, once you put your foot down...nothing..HIH

  8. This link was posted on another forum that I visit. http://pinktentacle.com/2010/09/photos-50-years-of-japanese-concept-cars/ Enjoy:classic:
  9. Nice, a touch of real class....
  10. Ham radio, phonetic alphabet. not that it helps any cause.... Z = Zulu......
  11. Those vac lines near the fusable links are for the A/c. They weren't shown in the FSM as air was an option even though it was factory fitted (never worked that one out). I had a schematic somewhere, pretty sure it's on this list somewhere as well. Have you searched, it would be a very old thread?
  12. Carbie heat is applied to prevent carbie icing, possibly better known a phenomena in aviation, it's just that the land based condition isn't as deadly!

Did you replace the hinges or the pin?
  14. Glad to see the edit...240Z's in Australia did not come with a air pump.....
  15. Glad to see that you have retained them and kept the car original. Generally, after a strip down and service they once again perform as new.

Title says it all, lets see what the most has been paid (world wide) for a Zed. Any version and subsequent derivites of the S30. This includes any rebuilds, re motored, custom etc, as long as it holds the body shape. Mike

I would hazard a guess that the "timber" is very similiar to the "timber" used in the 240Z Steering Wheel!
  19. Bob Watson Aussie driving Legend! Now, is this poll/question going to be Just North American based or world wide?
  20. Alan, Carl, Interesting discussion. I'm happy seeing it in the History Forum. ( after close to 40 years both my L24 & L26 still pull strong......is there a problem with the design? (long time mod, been away watching from the sidelines for a long time....)
  21. It' always very conjectoral as to how many where made and for which market. None in Australia, but then we got the leftover's, 280Z body and 260 engine complete with those wonderful carbies i have always defended....... FWIW. those 280/260 zeds in Aussie are getting extremely rare, most have been junked or stripped down for parts, as to how many are left in other markets...????

Curse you Mike, you now have Zed Mighty going nuts on Orientation Island.....
  24. Hi Carl, I was going to add a similar comment as an edit. Leaded is only available by issue of a Leaded "Passport". 100LL is the most commonly available aircraft fuel. There are other high octane specalist fuels available by the drum, no doubt similar fuels are available in the US. Like yourself, I am baffled by the thread as leaded fuel's are of a higher octane and pose no risk to a L series engine, in fact before lead was banned down here, I often filled up 1/2 & 1/2. Cheers MOM
  25. Carl, I think what Nissanman was alluding to was that you still had leaded fuel (which you don't), why else would you want to fit a restrictor! I don't see the point of the thread as I'm sure we all know the difference between petrol(gas) & diesel.
