Thanks everyone- I tried the water bottle on the fuel bungs no fuel came out into the bottles. I do not know if the fuel smell is coming from the passenger side fuel recovery area . I need to take that apart and look for bad hoses. I am thinking it is not as I did check this a year or so back. I do not think it is exhaust as my exhaust pipe muffler is in good condition - how else would the exhaust be getting into the cabin. Please advise Thanks

Here is the issue. I have a 260z that has headers and many of the original pollution control items have been removed. The carbs have been rebuilt by Z therapy - I have tuned them according to the video. The car is not running rich to the best of my knowledge. There is no air pump, with headers there is no exhaust gas tube, therefore no exhaust gases through the balance tube, the control valve is not hooked up. No water through the balance tube. The carbon canister purge valve has a crack in the lid, but otherwise seems to be intact. The car runs fine but after a strong acceleration the car wreaks of gas. Sometimes in the past to the point of eye stinging. What do I need to do to fix this. I have attached some photos to show areas missing their potential pollution control attachments. Thanks Z dude67

Steve J Yes I do realize these details were left out. I also the other day replaced the 9 pin connector on the car side and had the combo switch rebuilt in case there was an issue there. I have not put in the combo switch. However I just tried the bulbs and the side markers do not light when the brake is pressed. You Sir - are a rock star. As for the dashlights they seem to not be coming on either however my combo switch is still out of the car and the dash did not light with it out, only when it was all in and fully assembled. I do have the FSM and did print the wiring for the car and tried to figure out where a short would be ( my definition of short being wires melted together) or somewhere the current from the brake switch could light the side markers and dash - I thought the 9 pin- when that swap out did nothing to fix the problem I looked here. My skills - especially electrical are limited- but my love for the car is great. Thanks for your help I will know this weekend if it is totally fixed. Thanks Zdude1967

Steve J Thanks for the info. Yes, it is a 260z, I have had it a few years and the turn signals never worked on one side. I have replaced the turn signal switch, flashers, and hazard switch. Recently I took out the taillights etc to prep for paint . Once I put it all back together the combo switch connector melted a bit. at that point I noticed that when you press the brake pedal the dash lights and side marker lights go on, turn signals still only work on one side ( drivers) and when the headlights are on the passenger side turn signal indicator on the speedometer lights up and the turn signal that did work does not. This has been such a major pain to the point I began trying to remove the dash thinking maybe wires were melted together thus causing the dash and side markers to light when the brake is pressed. Finally the other day I came to the reality that if I (at my skill level) took the dash out many other things would probably never work again. I have no shops in my area (Phoenix) that work on these so I felt it could be the end of my ever driving this car again. I am going out to the garage this weekend to check out the bulb situation. I have a short or something going on that when I pres the brake pedal the sidemarker lights and the dash lights come on in addition to the rear brake lights. Also when I have my headlights on the turn signal for the left signal lights up ...Anybody have an issue like this and how did you fix it. Thanks

Thanks for the advise everyone. The tank is clean, it has been redone. I actually tried a vacuum attached to the fuel line to suck the fuel into the upper part of the line but only got a gas bath. Trying again later today. One other question, I have replaced the fuel tank float seals and now the tank leaks from the float area at 1/2 tank or more, any suggestions how to fix this. The float hardware is new from motorsports.

Hi, My car was in the garage and I ran it out of fuel starting it to keep the battery charged. This has happened before and is always such a pain in the a** as I usually have to take the whole fuel line apart back to the tank to get the fuel to the carbs. Its like the fuel pump will not pull the fuel once it runs dry (air pocket?) . It does not have the pump by the tank just the one on the engine. In the past I have sucked the fuel into the lines with an extra piece of fuel line and did this to draw it up to the engine. Anybody have an idea why the fuel pump wont draw the fuel from the tank - it now has fuel in it. And / or an easier way to get the fuel to the carbs. HELP!!!

well although I have had no input into my spoiler issue I felt it was a good idea to update. I am working with Brian his customer service seems pretty good so far. I will update this as it progresses.

I just received a spoiler from Brian at Z car customs and I am feeling very taken advantage of. In my opinion the workman ship is bad. Attached you will find photos- please if you would my fellow Zed Heads tell me what your opinion is of the workmanship- because I think it is very poor considering the part cost close to $400.00 with shipping.
