  1. Hi, I've had my 240Z for 4 years now and haven't really been paying much attention to the market, but it appears in the last 4 years the price of 240Z's in Australia has dropped quite signifigantly. What do people think, prices going up or going down? Mike

Hi all, I have a 240z that I've been driving regularaly for 3 years now. The suspension is pretty tired, it doesn't sit level and the shocks are buggered so I'm looking at options to replace the suspension parts. I'm in Brisbane Australia and I would like to get a spring, shock and bushings package that I could fit myself. I'm tossing up between buying locally or from the US. There are some good deals on ebay at the moment but I'm not sure they'll deliver to Australia. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=7981455918 http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=7966002784 So I'm chasing the opinions of you Aussie Zed Heads as to what your experiences are and what I should do. There are some photos of my car (as I bought it 3 years ago) in my gallery. I've been a member on this forum for 3 years but haven't been active. I been too busy just driving my zed! Thanks Mike.
  3. you still got the minis?

This is easier than everyone her seems to be making out, I wired up each side independantly with two relays per side so as to keep the factory redundancy and I get power off the Alternator + to keep the Ammeter working correctly. All you need to do is unplug the headlight lead and plug a small relay controls harness in. The plug is at the front of the car sitting on the valance. I'll take some photos tonight for you all. If you look at the time on the posts. ie. 9:17am on yours and 9:18am on mine. Basically you posted your post 1 minute before mine. Your post did not actually exist when I started my post (as it took me more than 1 minute to type) so you are correct I had not yet read it. I'm glad you have now stated this as it reflects positively on your personality. No I just find it very disappointing that you took everything to heart when I firmly believe everyone's comments were in jest. I guess it's a cultural difference. In Australia we are very light hearted and will generally take the wizz out of anything (humorously). So I was very disappointed when you took offence and started accusing people of offending you or accusing you when that was not the case. I'll post my pedal finding tonight after I dig out the digital camera and sit on my head under th dash OzLime240Z

HSH30 We could play these stupid games all day, however I'm not going to. I will however say that I'm offended by your sweeping generalizations about people on this site, we all need to keep an open mind and not think at first sign of opposition that everyone is out to get you. You're getting a whole pile of interesting information about pedals, allot more info than you had before and that was your objective.

Basicaly that you're very thin skinned, thought I'd said that already.

You're kidding me right. Grow a skin mate. I'm 100% sure that nobody here meant you to take offense. Scam or not I think it's bloody hilarious that most of us have stood on our head at the chance of winning a mystery prize. I think everyone at this sight is now a little more enlightened about you.

2adz, Love the horn button, where did you get that from. The horn button on my 240z steering wheel is buggered and I'd love one like yours.

It apears to have a rag-top sun roof? :surprised
  13. A couple of photos would be great. Couldn't agree more! I have a Triple Delhorto setup and once they were tuned properly I haven't touched them for 14 months since! Here's a photo of my Triple Dell 44 setup http://www.classiczcars.com/photopost/showphoto.php?photo=2105&size=big&password=&sort=7&thecat=500 Hmm.... that shop sounds familiar. They wouldn't happen to be at Woolloongabba in Brisbane would they? That's where I took my car to get tuned. They did an excellent job. For a dyno tune and re-jet (the PO got it wrong) cost $AU380. I don't consider what you got charged excessive if they did a good job. Figure it out, how long did they have the car, how many hours did they work on it and what was the invoiced labour rate? That's allot of work you've got them to do... if you wanted to save $ you could have done it yourself.... I agree triples are great, Mine are on an L28 and don't peak quite that high. A scan of your dyno graph would be nice, here's mine. http://www.classiczcars.com/photopost/showphoto.php?photo=2291&password=&sort=7&thecat=500 Tripples do indeed look awesome and sound awesome! Get out the silicon sealant! I've found opening the footwell vent and trying to keep the windows closed is a huge advantage. Of course my 240Z is also AirConed Yeah triples don't really seem to need a choke, they don't like accelerating with high throttle until they are warmed up but they will start and run fine. My fuel consumption with the triple 44 Dells is: 12.75 L per 100km or 18.45 MPG in the old talk That's averaged over 6000kms (3700 miles). Not to bad really. Just under the fuel consumption of a stock Commodore! What's done is done, no use crying over spilt milk. Just enjoy! OzLime240Z

Excuse my Australian lack of knowledge, we had none of these changes (but we never got a 280Z either) however a few Questions. collapsable spare. What the Heck is that?? Do you have to let the air out or something? Why did they remove the tool boxes? Did they put anything in it's place? Why didn't they just leave them there? Where does the jack go if you don't have the tool stowage areas? Why did they shallow the spare wheel well? Did the later models have a bigger fuel tank or something? Thanks in advance OzLime240Z
  17. If it's her fault shouldn't she be paying for it? OzLime240Z

  19. Dude, Can I get one of the dove tails off the doors, and the two screws that hold it on? It's the only part really missing of my 240z. Can I get you to just stick it in the post to brisbane? Thanks, Ozlime240Z

goto http://www.kaynor.net/v8-240z/240z.htm and search for "Wind Noise be Gone" or here is the felt in the JC whitney online catalog http://www.jcwhitney.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/ProductDisplay?catalogId=10101&storeId=10101&langId=-1&productId=170760&mediaCode=ZX&appId=468303 I haven't used this source as I'm in Australia so I cannot confirm suitability. 21. I run all my After Market Under Bonnet Accessories (Air Con, H4 Headlights) off the positive connection on the Alternator. That way the Ammeter stays true to what is actually happening. As an added bonus, when the Car is running this is the Highest Voltage point on the car, as this is where power is being generated and has not run through any wires. About +14V. Makes the H4's work well The way the ammeter works is it detects current flow in a particular direction. On one side of the Ammeter is the battery, on the other side is everything, yes everything else, including the alternator. When the car is running the Ammeter should read close to 0 (or very slight positive) as the Alternator should be 'running' the car. If the battery is flat the Ammeter will sit continually hi on the + side as the alternator is trying to charge the battery, or if the Alternator fails the Ammeter will sit continually low on the - (negative) side as the car is running primariliy off the battery. It is definitely best to run all devices off the "Car" side of the Ammeter not the Battery Side. That way your ammeter will tell you if there is a problem, which is why it's there. My recommendation is to run all under bonnet after market electricals off the Positive of the alternator and fuse at that point. I will post some photos of my set-up if anyone is interested. :classic: I got my Triple 44 Delortos Dyno tuned 14 months ago. Since then I have done 8000 miles and just a week ago I pulled the plugs to check the gap (at the same time I did tapets etc) and after 14 months the plugs are picture perfect. They look just like the photos you see in manuals showing you what your plugs should look like. BTW the L28 with Triple 44 Dels is very drivable. Gets about 14L per 100km or 18 MPG in US talk. Triples are great if you get them set up properly to begin with. Trust me, get them tuned by someone who *knows* what they are doing. Every motor, even if the same internally, is subtly different. Long live the straight 6 OzLime240Z
