  1. Seems to rev alittle easier, can't say much about any substantial increase in HP. I have also removed all smog nonsense so I'm sure I've picked up alittle. It does run for a time after shutdown, but I can't tell you if it's a timer thing or temp. All I know is it works great! I am also about to finish up installation of Superiors after-market A/C setup, so it will be interesting to see how it works then. If you are considering A/C, this is a good setup, but laid out by a third grader. I have removed all smog, moved alternator to smog pump location, compressor to alt. location, recut all hoses, and had to do some customizing on the brackets. Otherwise it would have been ugly, trying to mount comp. under carbs, and running 4 miles of hose to heater side.
  2. Greg: Interested in your seat belts - can you email photo? Price? Thanks, Guy Hungerford capitolclothingco@prodigy.net

One of the top outfits in the country is Rebello Racing in Pacheco, Ca. A complete rebuild will run $3500 or so. If you're a permanent owner, spend the dough, you'll be glad you did. Go to rebelloracing.com
  4. Well boys, I've always wanted to try the electric cooling fan sold by Motorsport. $130 something. Installed this week, and it is a dandy. Bolts up easy enough, car runs quieter, and most importantly, stays cool! It was mid 90's today and stuck in traffic, I swear it runs substantially cooler. Just have to get used to it running for a few minutes after shutdown. It's in a plain jane factory stock 73 240 w/72 carbs and 3 row core. I'm glad enough just to be rid of that fan clutch. Anyway, if you've thought about it, go ahead and try it. It works.

Anybody had any experience with the after market A/C kit from Superior? Their current kit comes with everything to install, including rotary compressor. Sounds like a slick deal, but I know nothing about it. Thanks

Motorsport has only pass side. $17 to boot. I'll keep looking. Thanks
  10. Man, I hope it's nothing like that! There is no evidence anywhere. You know, I'm finally at the point where I want to rebuild the engine and repaint. I surely love driving this rig. I don't mind if I have to pay, I want it fixed so I can move on. After this next trip to the suspension shop and dyno test, I will try the frame shop routine. Thanks.... I think.

Just missed out on some brand new ones on ebay. Need both for 73 240. Anybody? Thanks
  12. Don't know if front diff mount has been replaced. I'll have it checked. I've thought about the half shaft deal too. I have been playing with this problem off and on for so long now. After awhile I just get tired of it, and drive it. Never seems to change. I think there is just some geometry out of whack. I'm going to take it to a shop with a dyno, run it up, see if ......... Thanks guys.
  13. Well, you've given me some good ideas. I negelected to mention that I have installed struts and had the differential rebuilt to no avail. Thanks for the info.
  14. This vibration is not coming from the front end. I have had three sets of rims and three sets of tires on this car over the years and the vib has always been there. I do notice it more when there is some additional weight in the car, passenger, misc. cargo.....and the funny thing is, this vib at speed is increased on right hand turns only. I dunno. Thanks.
  15. I'm about ready to give up! I have owned this '73 240 for 22 years, and it has always had a small vibration at speed, usually 70 mph....and in right hand corners at speed it really shakes. I just got it back from what is supposed to be the best suspension shop in town, and they can't figure it out. Everything has been checked out, bushings, u-joints, etc. Anybody got any bright ideas? Thanks.
