  1. - After reaching running temp, it will stop smoking if i let it park for a while (5 to 10 minutes) - Smoke is a bit "bluish" - Coolant levels are normal - Use a little bit of oil - Gave it a "spirited run" on the highway last night. Problem have worsened on first start today.
  2. Will try to do this short, 73 240z/Stock L28 from 280z/Dual Webber Engine was suppose to have been totally rebuilt (top/bottom) 3 years ago. Always smoked a little under my ownership (2 years). Smoke is now out of control and i am ashamed of driving it. From cold start to normal running temp, SMOKE SMOKE SMOKE !!!. Any opinions, rings, valve seats, guides ? How much to fix this ?
  3. Very nice setup indeed. Is the heat shield and triple fuel rail also sourced from Wolf Creek ? What is the pricing level on the shield/rail if i may impolitely ask ?
  4. I can relate to your feedback about TooIntense. Did a complete resto of my 73 in 2008/2009. Many, many, many thousands spent at various supplier : Motorsport, BlackDragon, and multiple independant sellers on Ebay, Craiglist, Classiczcars.com, Zcar.com, etc... Only one supplier gave me many problems with lost order, wrong order, shipping delay, bad customer service : TooIntense

  8. Winter 2009, while restoring my 73, did order a lot of parts from them. Many, many delays and many many phone calls and unanswered emails before i was told by David Thacker that is father was in Japan visting suppliers. Ended up cancelling my order, got a refund and then sourced the orders with Motorsport and Long Motors. Took almost 2 months to resolved everything. Good Luck.

  10. Just bought a set of rebuilt triple Mikuni 40 pph. About to buy some accessories on Pierce Manifolds, air filters, horns, heatshield, etc. Will any Weber Dcoe accessories fit my Mikuni ? Any recommendations ?
  11. Your car was my inspiration my friend.
  12. 73 with lowered springs and (tired) 5-way adjustable Tokico. Faces almost the same tire/wheel choice dilemma after completing resto last year. Spent countless hours reading/searching everything on the subject. Finally went with 225/50R-16 Yokohama S.drive and 16x7 Rota RB. On my Z this combo looks great but rubbed badly on the driver side front valance (stock) and at the rear on mild bumps. At the front solved the problem by custom adjusting the stock valence. Back still need to be solved. Thinking about rolling the fender ? If i was to redo it, i would first invest 69.99$ into Percy's WheelRite Wheel and Tire Fitment Tools and after make my choice : http://www.summitracing.com/parts/PHP-01201/?rtype=10
  13. For your information ended up buying door weatherstrip reproduction and Nissan Genuine rear deck Inner Weatherstrip from Motorsport (34-1074A,34-1075A,34-1140). After little door adjustement, driver/passenger weatherstrip fits perfectly. Very easy to install and no glue needed. No more door slamming issue. Tomorrow, will give a try at installing the nissan genuine rear deck inner weatherstrip. Does the plastic interior trim pieces need to be removed, so the lower rubber lip of the new seal can be positioned under the plastic interior trim ? Should i use glue ? Any other pointers ?
  14. Your beautiful Z was the initial inspiration that sprung me into restoring a 73. Thanks for the pictures.

Original windshield on my 73 need to be replace. While MSA replacement seems close to original, price is a bit steep for my pocket. Anyone can recommend a cheaper option that can be ordered online ? Blackdragon ?

While dissembling my passenger door window the nylon guide mounted to the front of the window pane bracket fell down. This is the nylon part that slide up/down inside the front sash. If loose, should this part be GLUED to the window pane bracket ?
  21. Congrat on your new 72. Does look clean in and out. Especially like the shaved bumpers.

  23. My personnal experience with various type of weathestrip : 1) First i bought the "rubber seal kit" from BDA assuming it was a good deal at 199$ : - Door weatherstrip (LH/RH) gripping portion needed to be install with ton and ton of glue. Door slamming issue. Frequent adjustement needed slipping out of the gutter/sill plate. - Inner rear hatch seal also needed to be install with ton and ton of glue. Fit was disastrous to say the least. Hatch slamming issue. - Generaly, i would qualify the door/hatch rubber of poor quality easily twisting out of place even with lots of glue. - Glue provided does not provide enough adherence and if you go this route/kit usage of 3Mâ„¢ Super Weatherstrip Adhesive Black formula would be recommended to ease frustration to an acceptable level. 2) Ended up replacing the BDA Door (LH/RH) and Hatch inner. weatherstrip with Kia Sportage (first generation 1993-2002) found at the local junk yard. - Gripping portion is with individual aluminum clips inside to ensure a permanent grip to the gutter. - No glue needed and very easy to install. - No preform corner. - Fit is far from being perfect on my 73. Did not pass the water leaking test on the driver/passerger side. Inner hatch did not pass the newspaper test (closing hatch on a piece of newspaper and removing without tearing) - I understand that not one Z are similar and also that the Kia weatherstrip thickness might i have suffer from being so longly expose to the element at the junkyard. 3) Thinking about going the McMaster-Carr way. Part number 1120A333, page 3438 of the catalog. This is for the Door weatherstrip (LH/RH). Did some measurement on the Z a few minutes ago and A), and C) does make sense (see image - 3). Each door take about 11 1/2 feet and according to an old post on hybridz this solution was also recommended by Pierre Z in Hawthorne (http://forums.hybridz.org/index.php/topic/19439-240z-replacement-weatherstrip-experiences-so-far/) Questions/Feedback - Did anyone use the McMaster-Carr door weatherstrip lately ? How would you rate it ? - Would you consider the McMaster-Carr Edge-Grip Rubber Seal Bulb on Top (see image - 1) an alternative for the rear inner hatch ? Which size ? - Does the rear inner hatch seal from Courtesy Parts (http://www.courtesyparts.com/tailgate-seal-1970-1978-240z-260z-280z-seater-p-568958.html?cPath=7724_7754&) contain individual aluminum clips inside to ensure a permanent grip to the gutter without glue ? Hoping to end my weathestrip story on a good note....
