Hey folks - I am so ignorant on this so I am looking for a little help. Currently I have s stock '77 280Z coupe with a 4-speed. It runs 4000RPM at 80mph. I am looking at buying a 5-speed transmission core and rebuilding it. I have been told that would improve my highway MPG by almost 30%. Would this be worth it? Do you think this would help at all? Are there other things I could do instead? Thanks for any and all help. Tommy
Well my stock '77 Z made it 140 miles going from Atlatna to Nashville before I had to fill up. Got a whopping 13 mpg. Later checked and am getting 11 mpg in the city.
This car has been in storage for the last 7 years til I bought it and put it in the shop to get it worked on. Cleand out Fuel Injectors, replaced spark plugs and wires. Fixed corroded Temp sensor. Was told not to worry about ECU and to watch for the next couple of weeks to see how this does. Mechanic said something about Air Flow Control if it does not improved. Does that make any sense. Other suggestions?
Two shops have tried and can not get it out. This car sat in the garage for 7 years before I bought it last month. Assumig I can't get anyone to get this out, what should I be looking or listening for to see if I have trouble? Thanks
