Need 82 280zx Gas Tank Any ideas where to find one?
Call Jim in Oregon City. He has several ZX's that he parts out and I would bet he has a gas tank. His number is 503-819-0048. I have an 82 ZX (I posted the brake question on this forum) and got a brake line from him. Good luck. --Bruce

Brake question
I've got a puzzling situation going on with the brakes in my 82 non-turbo 280ZX. I've had the car for 3-4 years but had not removed the wheels to inspect the brakes. I decided it was time so first removed the front wheels. I suspected that the front right caliper might be sticking. This pad was worn much more than the left so I replaced both sets of pads. I could not get the pistons to retract so decided I should replace them. I got a set ($28 each at Auto Zone) and also ended up replacing the front left flex hose connecting the hard pipe to the caliper. I bled the fronts, got solid fluid flow but when I did a short test drive in my townhome area the pedal was very mushy. It was suggested that I should also bleed the rears. This is where my problem comes in. I have bled both rears using both a 2nd person to pump the pedal when I open the bleeder valve and also using a kit (small bottle with a magnet that sits above the caliper with a tube connecting it to the valve.) Either way, I keep getting streams of air bubbles in the line. I've pumped the pedal many, many times (refilling the reservoir when necessary) but I just can't get a solid fluid flow. I'm thinking maybe the master cylinder may have an internal leak but really need some input. I'd like to get the car back on the road (I've been working on this on and off for a month). It has been mentioned that there is a specific order to bleed the brakes: Left rear, right rear, right front and left front. I will try this today and see if the results change. Any ideas, suggestions, etc.? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Newly acquired 82 ZX
I purchased this on my birthday in July. It's very clean/straight, painted 5 years ago, nice Koenig Rewind wheels. I'm a Triumph and MR2 owner so now have another marque to follow and enjoy.

Insurance for collector Z car?
I use Country Mutual Insurance Co. I have 5 cars and my 2 Triumphs and my recently acquired 280ZX are covered under "antique" policies. I am limited to 2500 miles a year and have an agreed upon replacement value on each. I had to provide photos to show the condition of each car. Technically I'm only supposed to drive to shows, etc. but they don't seem to concerned if I drive one of them to work on occasion or around town. I pay around $120 per year per vehicle. Overall for all 5 cars (I also have an 85 MR2 and an 84 318i) I pay about $125 per month.

New to my 280ZX
for the reply. I'll check the fan relay and connections at the thermostat and check the connections on the washer motor.

New to my 280ZX
I recently acquired an 82 ZX. It runs great, is very clean inside and out (I paid $1800 for it--a good deal I think). In going through it I looked at the fuse box and discovered that the fuse (15A) for the fan motor was missing. I inserted one and now the fan comes on as soon as the car is started. I assume this is wrong--that it should only come on when the engine gets really hot. Any suggestions on what might be causing this? I'm thinking it must be some temperature sensor or relay. Any thoughts are greatly appreciated. Also, one of the windshield washer electrical connections was not connected (the connection right at the wires leading to the washer motor). When I connnect it, the warning light comes on so does this mean the motor or sensor is faulty? Again, any thoughts are greatly appreciated. Thanks.
