Tire Suggestions for 14 X 6.5 inch wheels
Hello all: I recently acquired a nice set of vintage Minilite 14" X 6.5" aluminum wheels and am trying to find a tire that will fit but still give me a vintage/period look. My car (1973 240Z) is the stock height. I'm not looking for track/race performance. Just a nice daily driver tire that will fill out the wheel wells nicely. I've searched the forum and found references to different size wheels and what would be appropriate for various applications. Just have not found anything specific to the 14" X 6.5". Any suggestions would be most appreciated. Thanks! Sam

Are 73 auto 240z worth it?
Mice Poop = Gut entire car. Pass on this one unless the owner is willing to come way way down on price

Are 73 auto 240z worth it?
I share the same sentiment regarding autos (possibly because I happen to own one). Stepping on the gas pedal of an auto 240Z is just as much fun as stepping on the pedal of a 4 or 5 speed....well, maybe a 5 speed is a little more fun. It's a Z after all. You do loose that off-the-line pull but once you get going it accelerates nicely. Plus I have the added benefit of my wife being able to drive it. The only problem I have with it is the "Nancy Boy" taunting I have to put up with from the guys in my Z club. If it's rust free (or nearly rust free) don't let the fact that it's an auto dissuade you from giving it consideration.

Missing Rear Anti Roll Bar
Guys, Thanks for all of the great info! I'm thinking that it never had a rear sway bar since the car is an automatic. I hope it was never raced! Thanks again to all Sam

Missing Rear Anti Roll Bar
I have a production date 5/73 240Z. I just had the car up in the air today to change the differential oil and noticed that there is no rear anti roll bar installed. I see the brackets on either side of the frame but no bar. Was the rear sway bar an option? Can anyone think of a reason as to why this would have been removed. There is a sway bar on the front. I would like to install a rear sway bar but, before I do, I'm wondering if anyone can chime in with any guesses as to why my bar was removed (or if it was even ever there when the car left the factory). If it turns out that I need one, does anyone know of place that just sells the rear sway bar? MSA only sells them in front and rear sets. Thanks! Sam

2 Fast 2 Z: As you can see from my Honda in the background I'm partial to silver cars. You can't go wrong with silver and black! How much did I pay for it? well....if you ask my wife then, too much. I paid $5000 for the car and another $400 to get it home (new set of tires in Indiana) I'm sure I paid way to much for this car but, I looked long and hard for a good specimen here in the NorthEast and they are just very hard to find in good condition (there are NO rust-free un-restored Zs in this part of the country). I'm sure I'll have many more $$ into it when I'm done refreshing it.

beandip: Thanks for the welcome. My plan is to keep the car as original as possible. The daughter of the original owner gave me all receipts from the date of purchase up to the year I purchased the car. I even have the original plastic warranty card and bill of sale. Aside from the normal replacements parts the only major non-original items are the round top carbs that the owner had the dealer put on just after he bought the car and the radiator that was replaced in the early 90's

Enigma: It's mostly surface rust on the undercarriage. The only issue is the floorboards where the firewall meets the floorboards. It looks like the heater leaked at one point and there are a couple of places that have rusted thu. Actually, the car only spent a year in Chicago, It was purchased and spent it's life in Buffalo, NY!!! Even worse for salt. It is surprisingly rust free for an upstate NY car.

Hello everyone: I've been on this board for about a year. I figured it was time to say Hi and finally post some pics of my Z. I purchased her last year from the daughter of the original owner. I took a chance and bought a 1-way ticket to Chicago to look at it. Bought it and drove it back to Penfield, NY (just outside of Rochester). The PO did not really replace all that much on the car. I found that out when I got to about Indiana and one of the 20+ year old tires decided to disintegrate. Luckily, I was within towing distance of a BJs (hence the cheapo tires you see in the pictures). Also, luckily I was only going about 50MPH! I have not done much to it since I purchased it. Just cleaned her up a bit, tuned the carbs, and general tune up stuff. New floorboards are in order but beyond that, I have only found some surface rust. I'm not kidding myself here, I know that when I start my refresh someday I'll find many more surprises. Check out the gallery!: http://www.classiczcars.com/forums/member.php?u=17425

240Z Parking Light upgrade harness's for Sale
Dave: Just installed your SCP and HLH upgrades. Just made a perfect car better! Question regarding the PLH upgrade. My 240Z is production date 5/73, the MotorSport Auto description states that the PLH will work on 240Zs up to production date 2/73. Has MotorSport Auto just not updated their description in a while? Your previous post on 5/25/08 in this thread indicates that the PLH should work on my 5/73 240Z. Just wanted to make sure this is the case before I purchase. If that's the case you may want to have MSA update their descriptions of your excellent products. Thanks again. Regards Sam

Pertronix Ignition and auto distributor, compatible?
Turbo7MN: Did you ever get your Pertronix installed and working? I also have an AT Dual Point setup that I would like to switch over to the Pertronix. Thanks Sam

Good for a chuckle....
Pay no attention to the snow, the car is really located in Nigeria. If you send me $500 I will fill the trunk with 10 Million dollars in cash and drive it to your house. Wow, this really is one "train wreck" of an ebay listing! It's just a shame that a z-car had to be involved.
