I think this is one of the cars I looked at a couple years ago when I purchased my current 72'. It was in very rough shape, rusted floor pans and frame rails, it was so bad I did not even test drive it.
  2. , I just got that magazine, there is some good stuff in there.

Sand it down and repaint it, this is really not that big of deal as I see no holes or big damage. Why would you fiberglass or weld it?
  4. Could be the front seal on the trans as well. What does it smell like and what color is it?

Mine was not as bad as the fuse would get VERY hot. I ended up pulling the combo switch off pulling it apart to clean all the contacts then went through all the connections with some dielectric grease. That helped a bunch but since my fuse box was also shot I purchased the aftermarket fuse box from MSA I think. Problems solved.
  6. Check your brakes, they may be stuck and/or need to be adjusted. Also, when you have the drum off verify the ebrake cable is not sticking.

I picked one up a couple weeks ago, super detailed. I put in a 3.5 turn brushless motor, does about 55mph and needs much more than a tennis court

Good to know, I did notice that it was brazed at one time but has since loosened up. I'll pull out the tig and put a nice tack on the bars. Thanks for your expertise Carl!!

Not sure what it is called but it is the bar that sprays the rocker arms with oil. I need one as I noticed when adjusting my valves that one end was very loose and the middle bar pretty much spun freely. On a side note how much would this affect my oil pressure. If anyone has a spare please let me know how much or where I can get one. Thanks, Mike

I have not been able to find anything on the elec fuel pump in my 72. From reading they are supposed to be on the 73 and later models. The PO had it wired directly to the fuse box and we all know how that turns out. I replaced the melted fuse box with an MSA unit and want to wire in the fuel pump as well. Where does the hot wire go and is it supposed to run constantly when key is on?

Looks to me that your tires are pretty well matched to the rims. I am thinking the spacer would be a good idea and push them out 3/4 inch or so.

My thought for a recent car is the Honda S2000. I for one am glad they shelved it, makes mine much more rare in the years to come.
  18. lots of lube for a couple days then heat and crap loads of it. Early 90's hondas are notorious for this in the rear suspension, the bushing seizes to the bolt and it takes forever to get it apart.

I sent him a message Hello, My name is Mike and I belong to a message forum called classiczcars.com. I am contacting you about the recent purchase of the car advertised as a 1971 240Z. There seems to be some discrepancies about the model and year and wanted to direct you to a thread on the forum. Several respected long time member are concerned that is is not a 71 240 but in fact a 260z with mismatching VINS. This is not spam and it is not intended to scare you but I want to make sure you are informed. http://www.classiczcars.com/forums/showthread.php?t=32671 My username on the board is gotswap. Thanks, Mike
