Tokico Spring/Shock Kit - HPK Kit
Tokico went out of production a few months back and there's been shortages on shocks for our cars ever since. I'd be very surprised if they actually have something for our cars.

Wisconsin Z Club?
Thanks for the input guys. Can't say I have a big enough itch for a club to drive 2.5 hours though

Wisconsin Z Club?
Hey guys, Does anyone know of a Z oriented club in Wisconsin? I went through the "clubs" link up at the top here and didn't see any that would even come close to my area.

Steering wheel vibration/wobbling problem still not found
What an interesting problem that I'm now intrigued to see wha the final result of this is. Look on the bright side, chasing this problem "allowed" you to do a lot of refreshing of your Z.

From the dust and cobwebs, it's almost complete....again.
Beautiful car! That engine looks like it belongs in there.

[2014] What did you do to/with your Z today?
I'm thinking of just tapping the center of the bolt that's stuck in there if it still won't back out and run like that until I can pull the engine and have someone do a "welded nut" extraction on it.

[2014] What did you do to/with your Z today?
Travel'n Man, great looking car! I spent my night with one victory and one defeat. I swapped out the shifter bushings which is night and day, mostly due to the bushings not being there in the first place! Here's a video to show the difference: The defeat was swapping out my thermostat. It's stuck open so I picked up an $8 replacement and figured two bolts should only take 5 minutes of my time. That was until the bolt closest to the block sheared in half. >_< Spent an hour with a left hand thread bit trying to back it out to no avail. I've got it soaking in PB blaster hoping that'll help loosen it up for tomorrow's round 2.

Need horn mounting pic
Hey guys, I just got my car back from the body shop and can't remember for the life of me how the horns mount back up. I feel like I'm missing a piece. Can someone please post a couple pics of how the horns mount on a stock body 280z? (Mine is a 78..though I would think all 280's have the same mounting). Thanks!

Finally part of the Z family!!!
Welcome to the club! Looks like you're making good progress on the car.

Black or chrome fender mirrors?
I think it depends on what your other accents are. If you had black fender flares, front air dam, and rear lip spoiler like a lot of guys do then I would say go with black. If they are going to be the only black thing on the car, then go with silver. Do you have a pic of your car?

S30 in 3d
This is an awesome project! Keep up the good work. If there's anything I can do to help, let me know. I've never worked in AutoCAD but have extensively in Pro/E,Inventor, and Solidworks. When this is complete, I'd love to play with it for airflow analyses, as structural stress analyses. Are you modeling as surfaces, or is there thickness to the sheetmetal panels? To answer Stanley's question, if the file owner hosts the data files on GRABCAD.com then their viewer will allow for any user to view it for free through their browser.

Road America - Vintage Races - 2013
A few weekends ago Road America up here had vintage races, which included 5 S30's, a 510, and a 2000 Roadster. Sadly they were racing 8 hours into the day so I didn't get too many shots since I was running out of memory card space, and then battery died. Either way, I hope you enjoy some of the shots I took at the event. High resolution versions are available on my twitter feed for all pics from the event, too. Also, if you know whose car it is, give 'em a shout out! Feel free to check out the rest that I took from the event on my Flickr feed. I don't want to kill people's bandwidth too much!

Just picked up this '78 280z!
Great pointer! I've been looking at their site a lot lately, as well as zcarsource.com. I had no idea about the discount so I'll keep that in mind.

Thanks for the pointers there! It looks like MSA Auto has the fusible link covers from $5.60 a pop so I might just go with that. Though, I sent an email off to my dealership nearby to see what they have in stock. I think they're a fairly new dealership (I'm new to the area so not too sure) so the chance of them having much is pretty slim I think. I'll definitely get one of those filters in line! I'll be heading back the direction of the tank anyways here in the next week or two to pull off the rear bumper anyways.

Yes, very nice indeed! If only it didn't have the front end damage, hah! My plans are not 100% decided right now. I'm torn between doing a DIY megasquirt injection system or going triple webers. To be honest, I haven't thought much past just getting the front end straightened back up as I know that'll be a decent chunk o' change to accomplish. I think long term goal is to have it be a weekend fun car and do some autocross with it. Tonight I got the front bumper off as well as the splash pan to inspect what all was crunched up in the front end. Here's the bumper...looks like he rear-ended a truck, even though he said he was hit, heh. A shot of the front end once I got the bumper off...I couldn't get the passenger's side shock due to it being bent in enough to where I couldn't grab onto that rear 3rd bolt. Passenger's side suspension...greasy! Same deal on the driver's side Driver's side bumper shock mount area...looks like that tab of metal at the corner of the radiator support and the shock mount took a bit of a bend during the damage. Does anyone know what these white plastic electrical boxes are and where I could get a new cover for it? Looks like this one got brittle over time and blew ou Underneath the car...

Ah, I see what you are saying then. I'll look at it again tonight when I get home and see. I believe it was an undercoating or something like it that was in the engine bay. The whole underside is undercoated. I wish I had more history on the car. Really all I know is I'm at least the 4th owner so It'll be interesting to see what I find as I get further into it. I'm now wondering if the engine's been out what the reason was. I'll try and get the head and block codes tonight and see if they match up for the year...

The code it has is 301, which is the Brown Metallic. What makes you think it was a repaint?

Just picked up this '78 280z!
I spent a bit more time with the car tonight and snapped a few pics along the way. I was mostly just cleaning it out and inspecting things. Its amazing how much crap people leave behind in a car they sell. Here's some pics of what I got into.

I wouldn't doubt it if they were the cause, with how they felt on the ride home!

Just picked up this '78 280z!
So after a few months of searching, I finally picked up my second Z. My first one was sold to help pay my way through college. This is a '78 with 63K miles on her. There's hardly a lick of rust on the whole car, with only a slight bubble on the hatch and some showing through on the front of the rear quarters. The frame rails, floorboards, and spare tire well are gorgeous metal. The battery tray area looks great from what I can tell but haven't pulled the battery out yet so knocking on wood still with that. The dash has a couple of smaller cracks that I'll attempt to fix later on. Otherwise, the interior is in great shape. One of the cool finds I had with this car was a tire recharge bottle that looks to be pretty old, if not original. It had the owners manual, as well as one for a 200sx for some reason. Now the bad news....the car was sold for pretty damn cheap due to front end damage. The bumper got smashed in, along with some dinging up of the headlight buckets. Hood took a pretty good bit of damage and I think will have to be replaced, along with the left fender. Cowl took a bit of damage, but looks repairable to me. Also, the brakes suck like something fierce and the front shocks are blown. All in all though, I'm stoked to have a Z again! Here are a couple quick pics...
