  1. My 260z had a rear end clunk on acceleration and braking , on my car the culprit was the diff mtg, its hard to spot the fault until you take it off. the rubber separates from the inner and outer metal shell. good luck Roger

    The outer casing of the bush would only be mild steel. i had to remove mine for a different brand of bush here in OZ. I had to grind away the flanged lip at each end before i could press them out , the metal casing ground off fairly easy. Sounds Like it might be Easier to find another mustache bar than find sleeve's that would do the job. Cheers Roger
  3. Luke is absolutely correct , i searched for three months and there seemed to be reasonable numbers of cars avail in the trading post , mainly in the states of Victoria and New south wales some in Queensland , and unfortunately for me only the occasional one in South Aust , pretty rare in Western Australia as well. Buy an Auzzie one it will already have a 5 speed box and a rear sway bar as standard and emission controls didn't start here until 1975 Good hunting Cheers Roger

    have a look at the lower suspension arm there is a short vertical link attached to the arm and one end of the sway bar is attached to it it then goes across the chassis mounted at two spots then attaches to the other side suspension arm the same way , my 260z rear bar is 20mm thick i don't know what it should be on an aussie 240z. put it up on ramps or stands and have a look arround its much easier to under stand than the pictures in the workshop manual. Have fun. Roger.

    I checked with a couple of off road buggie drivers , they were using large remote mounted paper filter assy's with 3 inch hoses going to fabricated air boxes over their down draft webbers. that doesn't really help much does it, I think i'll go for k &n's going with the flow i suppose.

    Interesting article, I was going to by some K&N air filters for my 240z carbs {on a 260z} after i had finised the rear suspension on my car . I think i need to do some research , i know a couple of blokes who have done a fair bit of off road racing in buggies I'll check with them and and let you know.The only after market air filters i have had anything to do with is"FINER FILTER" oiled foam types and this was in the truck and coach idustry on turbo diesels, "Detroit,and Volvo ETC" from memory the maintenance people at "GREYHOUND" were very happy with them but i can't remember axactly why, i can't vouch for improved performance. Perhaps some others can let us know what luck they've had with K&N's and others.

    it's always darkest before dawn. so if your going to steal your neighbour's newspaper, thats the time to do it. intercourse is like air. its not important unless you aren't getting any. No one is listnening until you fart. Always remember you're unique, just like everyone else. It may be that your sole purpose in life is simply to serve as a warning to others. Give a man a fish and he will eat for a day, teach him how to fish and he will sit in a boat & drink beer all day. Some days you are the bug, some days you are the windshield. Duct tape is like the force, it has a light side & a dark side and it holds the universe together.

    On my early 260Z there were two fuseable links {wire type} the special cable was sold only by color code , green and black , I couldn't find any female spade terminals to fit in the local auto shops so i went to an auto electrician and he gave me a couple , he also made the point that if you are going to replace the cable make sure you make it exactly the same length as the length contributes to the melting point of the cable.
  25. does anyone know why the mustache bar mounting pins are tapered when the hole in the bush is parrallel { 260z }
