That orange looks alot like what my old 260 was. It looked almost red in different light, original paint. it was the early 260z I think it was 918.

Are they just metal tubing? could you measure the wall thickness and diameter and just order steel tubing?

My valves could use an adjust. but this is coming from the BPT valve. The one that has a vacuum line to the EGR.

Thanks olzed, Mom passed away last april due to cancer (a few years back she had a lung lobe removed). And a Father with heart desease who had a minor stroke a few years back. So I am not a very good genetic candidate for smoking. I am hanging in there. I just need to remember to remove the patch before going to sleep. They give you really wild dreams.

I'll just get the copper one. Thanks. Here is a mystery: anyone heard of a clacking noise from the BPT valve?
  7. grantf replied to grantf's post in a topic in Engine & Drivetrain
Wow really?!? the one that came off crumbled was plastic or hardend rubber. If it is copper I can get one at Tacoma Screw or Napa.

So today was maintenance day on my Z. It has been running a little sluggish. My first job was to replace the fram 3G filter located near the tank. I think this was the main culprit. Also the car has been running hot. My thought was that since so much of the EFI system relies on temp reading I would do some maintenance on the cooling system. It has never been flushed since I have owned the car. Flushing whent smooth, nothing unexpected. I also inspected the thermostat and to my surprise someone in the past had installed it upside down! On to the oil change: This was easy as usual, except I noted that the oil filter was not tight, causing a small oil leak. (no one to blame but I), and the oil drain plug gasket (seal) was shot. It crumbled into 6 or 7 pieces. As a temporary solution I made a little seal out of black rubberized gasket material but I would like a permanent replacement. Any clue where to find one? So My Z is happier now but it looks like another oil change may occur soon. The thermostat was aftermarket as was the replacement. I think I will order a Nissan thermostat and another gasket just to sure.

So I got this reply from Chester and Herod: Hi Grant, thank you for the e-mail. we have a set of 6 or 7 pieces at a cost of 295.00 a set. UPS. Any where in the U.S.A. is $ 30.00. The original carpet is surged and bound it is pile. Delievry time 5 to 7 days. You can contact jim mon thur fri 9a.m. until 4 p.m. pst.@ 760-738-4296. Thank you for contacting Chester and Herod Auto Interiors. If the customer is not satisfied we're not satisfied. I may go with the cut pile from Datsunspirit, they are a tad bit cheaper. I have now heard good remarks about both. I had originally wanted to use loop pile, mostly to stay true to original, as I thought that was what the car came with. I will not use the molded carpet, I have heard bad things about the molded even from those that sell it. So for now I need to wait for the next payday, until then I am still looking for advice, then install tips. Thanks for the input guys. Oh And when the time comes I will most definitely post pics.

Pull to the left head on collision, Pull to the right you are stuck in a ditch. Hmm, no this does not compare to politics. But really as said above, just do an overall brake inspection and you should find the problem. I think if the car pulls to one side during braking that would indicate insufficient braking on the opposite side. check the fluid and look for leaks all around but especially on the right caliper. again the brake being stiff sounds a little like a brake booster issue, look for vacuum leaks also.

So Eiji e-mailed me back. He recomended sectional carpet istead of molded. that is fine by me. He also said that they have never done loop only cut but that it could be done in black, which is what I am looking for. My question now is: was my 77 origanaly loop or cut? What I have now is black loop with grey sewn edging. I do not think it is the original carpet. I am trying for stock. Oh and the price is not super cheap but reasonable. He sent me a sample pic:

Such is craigslist. For some reason comunication is hit or miss. What I don't understand is that he says it sold but you can still have it. What got me interested is the symptom he discribed the car as having is common and could be diagnosed and repaired for not much money. Oh well.
  14. At least you have done some testing. I am not an expert by any means so I am just throwing out ideas. How about power to the ECU with the ignition on? Never mind reread youre post, You have already done that. I would not rule out something else just yet though. Do you have the means of borrowing a spare ECU from a friend?

Sorry, I think I need to search for myself more often. Eiji works at and/or owns DatsunSpirt, No?
  16. grantf replied to grantf's post in a topic in Interior
Pardon My ignorance. Who is Eiji? I think I have read the name on some other thread recently. I did shoot Datsunspirit an e-mail. Thanks

not a bad idea. But I ran the last few cigs under water before slapping the patch on my shoulder. Anyhow I may think about at least looking at the car. I even have a spare gas tank from a 77.

  19. grantf replied to grantf's post in a topic in Interior
Nice Car! but I am looking for loop pile not cut. www.stockinteriors.com had really good pricing on premolded carpet kits like I have seen else were but what they sold was cut not loop pile.
  20. grantf replied to grantf's post in a topic in Interior
Who knows they may still sell in loop. just seems a little pricey. But thanks for the tip. The more choices the better.
  21. grantf replied to grantf's post in a topic in Interior
Wow. for over $400 ACC only offers cut pile no loop and the site does not say if it's for an early 77 or late 77. I could call them anyhow.

  24. grantf replied to grantf's post in a topic in Interior
I guess I just need to call around. I have heard in the past about a smaller business that specialized in Zcarpet. I forget there name. I also will do a thread search and google search. But really I wanted to know about others experiences, Good and bad.
