You have a 77? If so have you peeked at under the AFM cover? there is a fuel kill switch in it. Probably not you're issue but worth a look see. Have you looked up the Atlantic z car web site and clicked on the Fuel injection section? It helped me out quite a bit solving my fuel consumption issue. If you got in an accedent there would be a consequence to you're solution, but I am sure you are aware of that risk.

Really for working on you're car you should use mig (correct me if I am wrong MIG=Metal Inert Gas) So when we say use gas we meen use Mig gas for shielding with a wire feed unit, Not use an Oxy Acetylene torch, They are great for cutting and you can weld with them but for sheet metal you will most likely warp the steel to much. I have welded pieces of steel together with an O/C torch in the past and it was not nearly as easy as a wire feed.

six grand for that car seems reasonable. Over all it does look like a nice car. even if you don't like the "park bench" bumpers they are in good shape. It's really hard to find the bumper ends. Not my first choice for mirrors, but they look a lot like the ones on my car (mine are black).

Hmmm Seeing that you say it is temperature related it could be the coolant temp sensor or it's connection. Just throwing it out there. Easy to test and cheap to fix if that is the case. You should check you're fuel system also, How is the pressure? good current to the pump? ect.

I would call it a stretch to compare his likes to a doctor, engineer, teacher, mechanic, carpenter or even a fast food employee. I am not a professional welder, That is why I use a Mig wire feed. Does that make sense?

MIG. 110V is just fine for sheet metal. We have a large 220V at work but its to big to move in and out of the shop on a regular bassis. Use mig gas, the flux core wire does not produce the neatest welds, at least not for me.

I used to have a 260 back in the early 90's. it had the early bumpers. I have heard the there was a latter bumper style but I had no idea it looked like that! are those the same as the early 280z but missing the rubber ends?

Fastwoman, I have thought about the powder coating system also. I was thinking of an oven in my basement shop. I think I saw a reasonably priced starter kit some time ago. If you try this let me know how well it worked out.
