I dont know about removing the entire fuel system, but flushing it out and inspecting the Gas tank is prudent.
  2. BMW has a car that looks about right and has a Z emblem.
  3. Arrg, So will my 280 run without the fuse block and ecu? But really anything is better than cutting into the doors, I hate it when people do that.
  4. try testing the water temp sensor and its conections. Have you downloaded the FSM yet or the EFI bible?

We both said the same thing! The god of balance, you shall be.
  7. Yes fastwoman can help, She helped me out big time. Look up her purrs like a kitten thread and my mpg thread. As well as downloading the FSM and searching the EFI section. How long have you owned the car? Check all vacuum lines for leaks, Check all electrical conections pertaining to your EFI system and be nice to your clutch.

Are you absolutly sure it is the fuel sending unit? Can you test it by taking it out of the tank and moving it to see? If you are certain that it is youre sending unit, can you repair it? If you REALLY are sure you need the unit I have a spare but I am reluctant to send it out if it is something else. My car is a 77 and the spare came out of a 77 with the tank. I would test it before sending out.

That is normal, no? as the temp increases the resistance decreases and vice verse.

Welcome, I prefer the stock look, but it looks like you scored a nice z. Congratulations.
  16. Two things I have done that helped without a trany jack are: you can support the rear of the trany with a strap and a pipe or wood block through the shifter hole and using a jack to lift the rear of the engine to help align it to the transmission when reinstalling it.
  17. may not be what you have in mind: you can see the two little "nubs".
  18. Coolant temp sensor and or conections. Sounds like you have found it. My car had the same problem with similar symptoms

Usually we turn to FastWoman to solve our fuel problems, So If I saw this thread earlier I would suggest that she check with FastWoman as she has done, and FastWoman solved Fastwomans problem. But really, I have noticed a lot of the interior firewall terminals on my car have the same corosion problems. Perhaps it is prudent to clean them all before a similar problem occurs.

Anywhere but the doors. Please do not cut holes in the doors. I hate that. Well it's you're car. I have mine behind the seats. the PO put them there, in the doors, in the pillars and cut holes in the center console. It cost me a little to replace the parts needed to fill up all of the holes, but I left the ones behind the seats. They sound preatty good but I am no audiofile.
