  1. Is the washer copper? You mean annealing?

Mine is a 78 also, Dave you have a 260 no? I just assumed that the 260 would be similar to the 280 because the dashes are the same.

Yes, one easy to get to left of the steering wheel under the dash the other a PITA, I think above the steering column close to the firewall. So did Robin260z replace both with electonic flashers?

So Am I understanding that you replaced BOTH flasher units? not sure about the 260 but my 280 has two one for turn and one for hazards.
  5. I have been in this same boat. What Z brain said: check the fuel pressure. Also can you here the fule pump running? My 78 never had a fuel filter after the tank till I installed one myself as a tempory solution to a rusty gas tank, before I did that rust would clog the fuel pump, not good $$$.

True, but I had to order my hatch shelf from MSA.

I was in the same boat for my rear bumper ends, Found them at the juck yard. Guess I lucked out.

Tabco panels are not flimsy, there are "rough" in detail, they require more work than just welding them on, i.e. bending, hammer and doly, and cutting only what you need to use.

    Search rust repair.

What the others have sad. Take you're time though, I had to use really soapy water and had to push pretty hard rearwards while threading the little bolts on. Most of those tiny bolts were rusted and snapped on mine, I replace all 4 per side with ss bolts and washers.
  11. happy you found the problem, I had to return an alternator last year because it was bad, but it did test as bad at the store. So I am not suprised. Really somtimes it is the simple things though.
  12. I will try again.... Is you're battery good? are ALL of the contacts clean? not just the terminals but ground contacts???
  13. This may sound to easy but have you checked the neg terminal at the starter for good contact or corrosion. I had trouble charging my battery two weeks ago and that was the fix.
  14. give us a list of what you need. I have little in the way of spare parts but If I have anything you need it's your's.
  15. We are on the same page. but I will not rubber plug it. My current gas tank is "ok" lots of rust that is trapped by an inline filter I need to change out once or twice a year. This tank will be my solution so I want to fix it right and take my time. PM on its way...
  16. Oh and the center console..... needs some cleaning but wow for 16 bucks no one grabbed it?
  17. grantf replied to webdawg1's post in a topic in Fuel Injection
Not a bad idea but sometimes the simple solution is better. perhaps you do not need to drop the tank. my 2 cents.
  18. here is a shot of the tank (not easy to photograph the inside sorry). This is the drilled out hole and a little rust, this is the only rust in the tank I believe is is caused by water entering through said hole.

Just picked up one for my 78 for 30 bucks at the junk yard, totally clean on the inside, just need to weld up the hole the yard drilled in it. My point is I have had the same problem, but time and persistence has paid off, try the wrecking yards and bring a flash light.
  20. Thanks for the tip Dave, I was actually going to ask you about that tank. I saw pictures of you're modified tank awhile ago. The tank looks really clean on the inside, that's why I bought it so I think needs no cleaning. It is "bone" dry right now, I have put my nose to it and I smell no gas at all. It will sit in my basement for some time before I start any work on it as there is other work to do for the time being. The hole is about 1 inch in dia. so if I decide to weld it I wonder if I could just use the same mig gas I use with my wire feed (Metal Inert Gas) to fill the tank.
  21. Thanks for preventing me from doing something stupid and foolish, as I was planing on welding the tank while it was full of gas vapors.
  22. I do.. http://www.classiczcars.com/forums/showthread.php?t=38760 just never a gas tank.
  23. In what way would a shop weld it different than I would?
  24. returned to the pick and pull and got the gas tank, the inside is super clean. also picked up a center console in near perfect condition. problem is the hole the yard drilled in the tank, guy at the pick and pull said use jb weld but this sounds funny to me, Any suggestions?
  25. Different yes but the light switch assembly is close if not identical.
