  1. If you move the bumper inwards could you then cut out two or three "ribs" from the bumper ends and glue them back together using bumper compound? I have repaired the ends on mine using it and reinforcement mesh and they seem to be holding up well, you cannot even see they were damaged.
  2. Do you have the schematics from the FSM? Have you examined how the wires are routed? They must be a corroded or loose connection somewhere, try looking at the connections at the junction block. on my 78 many of the connections failed due to ether corrosion or tampering from PO.
  3. Omni is sold by ppg, it is there "buget" brand.
  4. Try testing\examining the transistor ignition unit. It's a shot in the dark, but when I had the same problem that's were I found a loose ground. I am not saying that this is you're problem just another possible place to look. Good luck. GF (oh and my car is a 78)

I would never buy a kit, I like the way Z cars look stock, But I have seen worse modifications. It really does not look that ugly. (maybe strip off the ferrari badges as it is not a ferrari).

  7. sorry man. I really love the old bumper style but hey, if you're 280 still had the original "park bench" then you most likely would not have a claim. Anyhow it seems there is a curse that when you have you're z running just right and it's cleaned and polished inside and out some dumb ars hits you're car

ditto: engine needs fuel, spark, compression. So you have DC, ok now check for spark at the spark plugs, if ok then check fuel (is you're tank full? do you have fuel at the cabs ect) than compression, this you would check last. :paranoid::stupid:

that click is most likely the relay (relays normally make a click sound), it might not be bad, this sounds like you have wiring issues between the relay and the starter. You need to study the factory service manual electrical diagrams, get a multimeter and inspect you're winging closely (methodically), then tell all of us what you find. Electrical issues are next to impossible at times to diagnose over a chat forum, I know, I have asked for advice and 15 options were suggested and it ended up being a ground wire I forgot to reinstall under the dash ( I was lucky). You're issue seems simple, though you need to start testing. for what it's worth. grant

that "tic" sound is the solenoid popping out, so you know that works, double check you're conections to the starter and test them with a meter. Or try running a wire from the positive terminal to the motor terminal and see if it turns. Anyhow it could be any number of things, bad relay ect. hope this helps, but you need to do more testing.
  16. I remember pulling the heater core on my 260z when I lived in Anchorage, That was about 20 years ago. I was not as good of a mechanic then and it was 10 below Zero fahrenheit. What a pain is the A, I remember being covered in antifreaze and running inside every 5 minuts just so I could feel my fingers, but I did get it done in a day.

welding is actually pretty easy. I used a small 120 volt Lincoln mig welder, gas is a must, if you practice on some scrap pieces to start and remember that heat will warp the metal so go slow and skip around a little. It also helped that I work with a machine and weld guy that gave me advice from time to time.
