sheesh, I could rebuild it myself only for lack of parts, I think brushes are not a problem but the voltage regulator is a different issue.

possible bad alternator????
agreed As stated above I have performed this test (failed), just whanted to know what else might be a cause...... I am bringing my part to a store but not autozone, It's going to an old store down the street that actually has a machine shop, really funky store, it's been around since the war of 1812 I think or maybe the fall of Rome not sure, but they don't sell bling crap and the counters are covered with years of grime.

possible bad alternator????
To add to my past problem solving adventures, I now have a charging issue. I have a new battery shows 13.3 when charged but drains while the car is running (11.7). So what is the best way to check the alternator? I really do not wish to throw $$$ at the problem. 1978 280Z

Fuel injected to carb swap?
a mech. fuel pump requires you to have a "lobe" at the end of you're cam shaft, it turning in an off center manner provides the movement for the fuel pump to operate. is you're camshaft equipped with this or not is the question.

Fuel injected to carb swap?
most likely to be easer to put in an electric fuel pump. I remember switching to one years ago on my 260z.

I talked with a fellow from Chester & Herod, guy returned my message early this morning and I got pricing from him. Did you use the cut and sewn or the pre molded carpet?

It lives!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Ok so I could not help it. I put air in the flat tires turned the key, it starts right up I pull out of the drive way and punch it! I am sucked into the ripped up seat only for a sec, test the brakes.... they work :classic: tabs need renewing so I take it down the side roads (I forgot how small zeds are). drive it just long enough to put a giant smile on my face. still needs work but it will be fun when its running good and legal! so hard to keep me from driving this to work.

280z will not start
still searching for probable cause..... I have 12.9 volts at the battery and the coil has 12.6 (marginal drop). so the coil has power but no spark. So, best way to test power to the EFI is???
-
280z will not start
update: today I got a friend to crank the engine wile I looked for spark, nothing from the coil and nothing from the spark plugs. Alas no spark :disappoin so now it's FSM time. any suggestions on were to begin my search for power to the ignition system? Oh and I should note the car ran fine about a year and half ago, then I pulled out the dash for repairs, fixed most electrical problems from PO's hack job but I see no circuits involved that would explain my current dilemma.
