  1. Blue, Where were you before I put the RT mount in my car? but it was easy to install and it worked. I suppose I could have just thought about the diff movement before ordering it and gone the L stock route. Anyhow, what were they thinking with the strap, it was poo.
  2. six grand for that car seems reasonable. Over all it does look like a nice car. even if you don't like the "park bench" bumpers they are in good shape. It's really hard to find the bumper ends. Not my first choice for mirrors, but they look a lot like the ones on my car (mine are black).
  3. I am wondering about the same thing on my 77.
  4. Hmmm Seeing that you say it is temperature related it could be the coolant temp sensor or it's connection. Just throwing it out there. Easy to test and cheap to fix if that is the case. You should check you're fuel system also, How is the pressure? good current to the pump? ect.
  5. :tapemouth You are probably correct. In at least that I do not value a lot of the talking heads that are out there including Mr. Carolla. I would call it a stretch to compare his likes to a doctor, engineer, teacher, mechanic, carpenter or even a fast food employee. But I do agree that there are a number of whiners that demand employment without earning the right to be employed. Mr. Carolla is a collage dropout that could not hold any other job other than an entertainer. He got lucky. I also think the tide will turn. I think the next generation will not have the same sense of entitlement that we see now. OWS'er? You meen Occupy Wall Steet protester? HA Hell no! I said I work for a living did'nt I. I just think Mr.Carolla is a Jack arse that's all. Anyhow back to work on my Z. The driver door handle snapped off yesterday. :tapemouth
  6. Where is the confusion? Adam describes People who who Demand a job or wealth without merit. And I say he does not deserve the wealth he feels he is entitled to. So what If he likes the same type of car as me. He is a useless jack arse. What does he do? what does he produce? what innovations, inventions, ideas? or even a hard days worth of work. I believe He is a privileged a$$hole that has been given a free ride and spouts crap. Fine free speech. But I still think he is describing himself (someone who feels entitled). And he is full of B.S. His tax group does not pay 50% look it up. I am not one of those 99% people. I consider myself a 50%, someone that works for a living. Spouting off is not work. If it was I would get paid for typing this.
  7. Though I do believe in what Adam says. He describes himself. I believe Adam coralla is an a$$douche. He is a self entitled douche bag that was given what he has not earned it. Anyone can rant, Not everyone gets payed for it. Bla De freakin Bla! I work my arse off and get paid for it, And I get what I deserve, a paycheck simple enough. And I am not biching about it. So there.
  8. Looks like you found the answer yourself. Nice job!
  9. Well, There's yer problem!

Nice work! some would call the car toast and scrap it. I love it when people do not give up. If it can be built, it can be repaired.
  11. I vote for polished SS or chrome. Polished nickle would look great but I think that is for period bath fixtures.
  12. I am not a professional welder, That is why I use a Mig wire feed. Does that make sense?
  13. MIG. 110V is just fine for sheet metal. We have a large 220V at work but its to big to move in and out of the shop on a regular bassis. Use mig gas, the flux core wire does not produce the neatest welds, at least not for me.

I used to have a 260 back in the early 90's. it had the early bumpers. I have heard the there was a latter bumper style but I had no idea it looked like that! are those the same as the early 280z but missing the rubber ends?

Fastwoman, I have thought about the powder coating system also. I was thinking of an oven in my basement shop. I think I saw a reasonably priced starter kit some time ago. If you try this let me know how well it worked out.
  16. oooo save those bumper ends!!!

I am with x-1. A wallet with cash I would try to find the owner. But I would not go to the police with it. Sorry to say this but I trust the Seattle police about as far as I can thow a feather into the wind.
  19. Just keep searching. Not to long ago my car was rear ended and the body shop got a replacement for the one shown above, cost 400 bucks and it was warped. I asked for my old one back. Every 2 months or so I scourer the wrecking yards with my fiance and every now and then a surprise awaits, it's sort of fun for strange people like me.

    Yes show pics.
  21. I have had the same trouble with my car, a 77, but I lucked out at the wrecking yard one day But both of the front and rear end sets needed some work. I did some minor repairs using rubber bumper glue fine sand paper, mothers back to black and a lot of patience. you can not tell now that they have been repaired. how bad are youres could you show pictures?

Nice car, that rear hatch rust.. You can get a replacement panel, there is more then just surface rust. it requires drilling out the original spot welds and plug welding the new piece in.... Also the haynes manual is incomplete at best especially if you have fuel injection, go with the factory service manual ( xenons30.com I think ).
  23. hmm Looks like a nice car, and the price is very resonable. Ill bet he has no trouble selling it.
  24. in order of ease to fix I would say haft shaft u joints, drive shaft u joints (depending on the year), diff mount (well this actually is really easy tied for second if you use the new mount and dump the strap) then mustache bushings ( I have not done this yet on my car because it looks like a pain in the a$$).

Wow! the AFM was not hooked up? that would definitely cause your car to not run. most everything involving the fuel delivery is based on readings from the afm. even a split in the afm to TB boot will cause the car to run poorly. Do you have all of the systems put back in order? all vacuum lines electrical conections to sensors ect.?
