nice car how do the seat covers smell?
  5. I am a little confused on how the repair will be done, will you post pics?
  6. If it were a "beer can test" people would listen I'll bet. (:

I know no one likes the "park bench" but at 35 mph being rear ended by a Chevy Blazer, it saved my car from being a salvage.

  9. Yes, 1974 260's through 1978 280's are interchangeable. But not the wiring. including 2+2's

    on my 77 280z...
  11. Wow looks like a PO hack job, I have been there. The second to last photo looks like dash lights no? you need the year of you car and the FSM. to start at least e-tape over the bare wires. When you read the FMS diagrams you need to follow each circute individualy and repare one at a time folowing the color coding. My 2 cents. Take youre time as you go it will make more sense. I am sure others here can help more if they know what year youre car is.

sorry read though half of youre post now I feel like an arse.
  13. Update: the damage adjuster looked over my car for about 20 min. He gave me a parts and labor summary and a check for a little under 2k. Now I am sort of shocked I was not expecting a check today. It will remain in my paper work for now. Anyhow I then drove my car to the body shop, The manager does not want to use any parts that I have found, he says he will get them from a place that specializes in Z parts (news to me that this wonderland exists!) anyhow he has arranged for a rental car for me to use and stated that my car will be in good hands and that any costs over what the insurance has paid me he will deal with. He said that in the condition my car was in that there is no way it would be totaled. New bumper, new bumper end, new bumper valance, new tail light assembly and both finishers. my real concern is how are they going to straiten out the metal?!?!

Try the search. LOTS of info there. and after you search you can tell me how to fix the fumes in my car.
  15. unfortunately the claims adjuster is going to be by in an hour. I have not had time to take it elsewhere yet. I do plan on taking my car in for an estimate at a very trusted auto body shop, they are very professional the have found hidden damage to my other car by crawling under and inspecting the frame ect. I have not seen the doc, I feel fine, Girlfriend has been to the ER and had a follow up with her primary care, She is in pain The other guys insurance is Geico, I have been through this with them before, they were rude bastards before and I expect the same treatment this time around. I have learned from the last rear end collision and I think I can deal with it better this time. The real unknown is what value they will place on my Z.
  16. It makes it hurt even more that you did all the work you're self when someone rear ends you car on the freeway.... http://www.classiczcars.com/forums/showthread.php?42086-Fudge!!!-!!!!!-someone-rear-ended-my-car sorry.... It's just... MY Z!!! really though great job!
  17. Nice! looks like you could wait no longer to start putting the badging back on.
  18. oh on another note, I am really impressed with how the epoxy primer I sprayed on the car held up to the smash, it conformed to the dent while the paint and surface primer tended to break.
  19. Thanks zcurves, I have already ordered one from e-bay $40.00 bucks not to bad really. I may order the bumper bar from black dragon also. the tail light assembly from 78 came with a Finisher but it looks different. My Car it turns out is a 77 not a 78. I may be able to modify the replacement to match. The "other guys insurance said it is a pretty cut and dry situation and will be sending an adjuster out to look at my car soon. I plan on taking the car to a trusted body shop for a second opinion. But in the mean time I will be looking for parts on my own. Not sure about the body repair though, it looks more like a cut and weld than a body hammer job, and I will not settle for a clown filling it with bondo.
  20. I am fine, My girlfriend was in the passenger seat. She has a strained back but should be fine in a few days. No Classic car insurance. I'll need to wait and see how bad the responsible drivers insurance is going to screw me. So far the hardest thing is the right tail light is shattered $$$ and the rear finisher cracked. Yes I just got finished with restoring the body, This sucks.
  21. Traveling South on I-5 traffic came to a halt suddenly were the express lanes merge onto I-5 just s of downtown I hit the brakes and stop in time, Large ram truck skids out of control to my left and passes me (there is only one lane with guards on either side) Next behind the Ram truckasorus is a Chevy Blazer, it rides up on to the right guard then slams into me FU@$!!!!

  23. grantf replied to Pomorza's post in a topic in Open Discussions
easy, just find a stick to prop up the hatch.
  24. grantf replied to Pomorza's post in a topic in Open Discussions
you need to remove the hatch struts at the body. Otherwise you will fight them till they crack. I learned the hard way.
