Reproduction, the doglegs are tabco and the rear section is from mill supply but I think tabco made them as well.

thanks again for the info I am useing dp50lf and it was $115 with hardener that produces 1.5 quarts. Anyhow I will use the ppg primer on all bare metal for now.

hmmm, I have the same year.... Try easy first, take the center panel out and inspect ,do you have a mutimeter?

here is some pics of the patch panel loosly fit, note that there is some hammer work and more trimming, but I am pleased that this replacement panel is fitting way better than I thought it would due to reports that it was all wrong. None of these replacement panels fit perfect and I do not believe they are ment to be replacements without some trimming and bending but I was expecting way worse so I am happy.

A little bit more progress. this time it is the rear passanger fender. I found two things, a shmit load of bondo and the bolt hole for the rubber bumper end, this is a good thing as I located two replacement end peaces at the junk yard a few months back, I am happy.

I will be painting the whole car in the near future, but not stripping it all down to bare metal. I will most likely be painted the original yellow. post pics of you're rust perhaps it is only surface but cross you're fingers it seems that these cars like to rust on the inside also.

that's what I thought. The ppg epoxie runs about 115 buckazoids per quart so I intend on using it up. progress pics can be seen in my bodywork thread on this site.

looks like a good opertunity to replace the roof. on the bright side it is one body part that is still useable from most part cars and junck yard finds. A lot of work though.

thanks again for the info, Before I started body work I picked up ppg's epoxie primer to spot prime the bare metal. As I have now started welding in replacement sheet metal and used ppg's epoxie primer can I switch to nason for final priming color and clear? I can not really justify the cost of the more expensive paint as I am on a budget and my project car (280z) is not a full on restoration but more of a refresh.

Back to business: here is the right side just welded and ground then spot primed, no filling or sanding yet.

Great info. So now I am thinking of using nason. But isn't shop line and omni the same product? I am not commited yet.

right dog leg if I can get the passanger door open, rear lower quarter sections, hatch deck, lower rear front fender area. That should do it for rust on my car. then paint.

Is my thread getting hijacked? Anyhow by that time my car may not be drivable as bodywork progresses:ermm: I'll see if I can make it maybe just the meet in Tacoma.

here is my progress so far: So the Tabco part was not nearly as bad as I thought it would be, It is still not compleatly done, there is a little more grinding a tab bit of hammer work to sharpen the inside radius and filler (but not much). I am actually pleased with the fit!

We own a soda blaster at work and I tried it out on a replacement hatch. Anyhow it removed paint great and some surface rust but it would not remove rust down to bare metal and left a texture undesirable for paint. my 2 cents.
  21. Black Gold!!!!!!!!!!!! that dude is so porn star! YA BABY YA!
  22. Yay craigslist is where I found my replacement hatch. I actually found three but some people can be a bit flaky on craigs list. I had to settle for a slightly rusted one but not nearly as far gone as mine. Oh well rust is my current battle than paint. Tyler's Z looks way better anyhow.
  23. looks way better than that plastic thing you used to have. Where did you get the old bumpers? I would like to get rid of the park benches some day but they are hard to find and pricey.
  24. hey, who owns the white 260z I saw a couple blocks from REI in Seattle? my girlfriend and I walked by it during lunch, had a ZCCW sticker on it.Nice car reminds me of my old orange 260 from years past. Anyhow no time for car shows for the extended weekend as work body work progress.
  25. unless there spidered in like on my 280,
