My grandson's new desk chair.
That looks cool! Thought about putting the bumpers, grill and headlights on the wall in my office. That would be a great chair there!

What to do with a rolling shell
Hey guys, I suspect this should be on classifieds but that place and I don't get along, plus, I have to be rid of this in a few days and who knows if anyone with interest would see it by then. I have a 71 240 rolling shell, serial 21xxx, with title that is mostly a rolling shell. From the center of the car back it is very sound. From there forward, it is largely metal cheese cloth. I am going to take it to the scrap yard this week, but on the outside chance someone needs the rear of the car, I could save it. Getting it to you of course is the big issue. I hate to see it crushed, someone out there is in dire need of a quarter panel or the rear panel or ?? Any thoughts from anyone on what to do with it? It is by and large stripped, no gas tank, lights, etc. There is a vertical grid deck in good shape, the rear end and struts are still there, the brake parts are gone. This is it's dying last gasp........

Chrome air cleaner
I bought this project car a few days back and as I am unpacking it, I found this chrome air cleaner assembly and the chrome tail light bezel assembly (for lack of a better term). Any one ever run across these before? They look like hell in the pics but actually look pretty decent. Pretty good quality.

Buying parts off amazon
I haven't yet bought Z parts, but have bought a lot of things for my chevy trucks and my daughter's Kia. Perhaps $1500 or so in the past 6 months. Multiple items may have multiple shipping points and thus a little extra in shipping but have found everything to be exactly what I ordered and shipped promptly. And almost every time cheaper than ebay. I now find the description and info on ebay and then look at Amazon before I order. It isn't that I am cheap, it is that I'm poor. There is a difference........

Weird Myths or Facts about your Z car
I wonder if conedodger has the license plate frame "My other car is a Porshe" I got into a brief debate with a gal at a gas station over my white Z and whether or not it was a Porsche. I finally let her win by admitting it was a rare Northwest Edition Porsche 280 but to not tell anyone she had seen it as I didn't want the publicity.

Libra wheels
Well these are unmarked and look like the copies in the picture. Either way, I am looking for a home for them. Rumor has it that the classifieds is back to usable so I'll post them over there. They have brand new toyo eclipse 185/70's on them if someone is at all interested. Drop a pm and we can discuss it. Thanks for the info!

Libra wheels
Good info. I will look tomorrow. Am I to understand that the libra was made by american racing? If so, did not know that.......... Still digesting all what I brought home. Lots of correct parts, but as many that are not. 21xxx vin

Libra wheels
I just picked up a 240 that has too much cancer (and previous damage) to save. However, it has a set of Libra style wheels on it. Are there any positive identifying marks somewhere? I do not have any interest in these and will sell them once I determine what I have. I don't want to mislead anyone.

Newbie with question
Hi Elaine, I don't mean to be rude or nosey, but everyone on this site will be interested to know what finally happens with the car. It would be awesome if you were willing to let us know. If you sell it, perhaps let us know in general what you got and maybe to what part of the country (or world it went to). Thanks, Leonard

Newbie with question
It is a good looking car. 15-20 may be a little optimistic, might get your hopes up, but who knows I guess. How many miles? I will admit I am a little bit jealous....... : )

Newbie with question
Hi Elaine, It is all about the condition of the car and it's market location. Rust, repaints, prior accidents, documentation (from warranty card through repairs) etc make a huge difference. Location is a big deal. There are a lot of Z's out west in good conditon, not so many in the east as rust gets to them. It boils down to supply and demand. By all means, post a few pictures and members here will chime in with their opinions. Look at other venues, craigslist, ebay, autotrader, etc. Look at the ones that have sold on ebay, not the ones listed. Anyone can ask a price, it is what has sold that tells you what you want to know. See how they compare with what you have. And be paitient if you can. Top dollar is a good thing, but don't let a good offer prevent you from selling and getting on with life.

What are you on the look out for?
For all you volvo fans, my little blue one has the ES 2 liter in it with an overbore, with an Isky cam, dual SU's (the real ones), header and as stated earlier, will flat smoke a Z. There are a lot of Volvo's out this way, but few are something to persue. I do know where there is a 242 GT sitting under a tarp that one might possible get. The guy has 20 plus various volvo's and does absolutely nothing with them. Most are wagons, turbo bricks in varioius states of disarray. I too am looking for a 74 1800ES, the wagon looking one with the large rear hatch glass, banned by the boys in gov't because glass hatches were unsafe. The blue one is a 444, in 58 they changed to a one piece front window and named it a 544. It is the winningest ralley car in history.

What are you on the look out for?
If one were looking over the roof of my 240, one would see a 98 Harley softail wanting to find a home.................. :-)

Auto to stick conversion
I was thinking more specifically something about the carbs and how it had something to affect idle speed or emissions or something. Was thinking it was prominent on the SU's and perhaps vacuum related.

Decent price for a 240Z roof skin?
Would give you mine for $50 but freight from Idaho would kill you I'm certain. Was on 72, is lime green, cut off well below factory lines, has head liner.

Auto to stick conversion
Great! Thanks guys

Auto to stick conversion
I am sure this has been asked but not sure how to search for the answer without getting a thousand pages to dig through. Is there any way to prove or disprove a 240 came with a stick or an auto? If it were an auto and converted, are there an signs? something unhooked that shouldn't be or ? I'm trying to determine if a particular car now with a stick previously had an automatic. It is a 72 240. thanks guys!

Suggestions for 75 280Z
Definately do the 5 speed. It is a direct replacement. ZX 5 speeds are plentiful and about a $100. (can't use the turbo 5sp). I installed a headlight relay kit that was essentially a direct fit and put in off the shelf wagner halogen sealed beams. Can not overstate how much that helped. The relay kit takes the voltage off the switch. Got mine from Summit for something like $39. Didn't cut a single wire. The clunk on a bump on mine was from a bad strut. The top mount was loose and the strut moved up and down before compression. I put in new ones, nothing special, and the bulk of the noise went away. Still a few squeaks, which now just gives it character

New or Old Car
There is a very nice 95 Maxima here on a lot with 93K miles. A guy could get it for $4K. Good economy and at least in my book, is a good quality used car, bordering on being an old car, since I haven't really came up with a definition of an "old car". Gut instinct is this car would go another 100k with little trouble and pull in mid 30s in fuel. Seems a win win. At 52 I've lost the urge to have a 'new' car and would rather have the money. Now if you want an older car, I have a 52 windsor deluxe that gets mid twenties in fuel economy and you can cancel the gym membership if you drive it twice a day.........
