They look great and they do look alot like chrome from where I sit... Nice job getting them on the 78 too.
  3. Sellers often do that on ebay because you do not pay ebay fees on shipping... I have a drivers side mat that only says "Datsun". I was under the impression that this was an OEM item that came from Japan with the car.

If you take it apart and try to repair it I am pretty sure the A1-Cardone or whomever manufactured it will deny the warranty claim. I am pretty sure that rebuild kits for the old and new boosters are not available. I would just wait. John

Dan, I thought mine seemed to be sitting nicely. Do you know the distance of Stock wheels, center of hub to ground? Were mine similar? John

Here are the requested measurments. Tires look a little low but I didn't have time to fill them before work this morning. I would add about 1/4 inch to my numbers. Center of wheel to ground=11 1/2 Front; ground to wheel arch=26 3/8 Rear; ground to wheel arch=26 3/8 Front Rocker; bottom to ground=7 3/4 Rear Rocker; bottom to ground=8 Rocker measurements were from the flat surface, not the final lip that points down. (if that doesn't make sense let me know) John
  7. Coyze, Key (and perhaps intentional) words here are "fair replacement value". In my mind the term "fair replacement value" means middle blue book at best. I think the difference is that companies like Haggerty and the likes sell you "agreed value". That means that you present an appraisal, they look it over and you both agree that $XX,XXX.00 is the value of your car. In the event of a loss total loss you get paid that amount. No if's and's or but's. I would clarify that with SF and make sure you have the coverage you were led to think you have. Up here in the mid-west SF is known for denying and reducing claims based on technicalities. John

The measurments I gave were at the rear wheel arches. I am working until 10:00 CST tonight so I will have to get the rest of the measurements tomorrow afternoon. I appreciate you digging up Carl's thread with the details. Mine are pretty close to that in the rear with the old springs. I am running Sumitomo HTR 200 tires and they are brand new (maybe 300 miles on them) on aftermarket Enkei knockoffs that were on the car when I bought it.

I installed my GR-2s on 41 year old stock springs this past weekend. I am not sure what the stock ride height is (and I didn't measure before removing the old struts) but my current ride height is 26 3/8". It appears that it is a little higher than with my mulhollands but I think they were worn and riding low (although I did not notice the noises and sticking described above). Looking at the profile the ride height seems to be balanced from front to rear and not too high in either the front or rear. Does anyone know the correct ride height with 195/70 X 14 tires? John
  10. Yes please. I'm getting tired of using Google Translator
  11. Blasted and painted the rear suspension.... Looking good.

I didnt get my struts installed today. Hopefully tomorrow. I am using the stock springs and have no plans to cut them down. I will get you measurements when done. John
  13. Canada. Find somebody in Canada that is willing to purchase them for you and ship them to your house. Nissan dealers in Canada are able to order them from the factory. That's where I got mine (Thanks Dan!) last year. Cost me about $600 delivered. John

I was told that the GR-2s are best used with old stock springs to compensate for the 40 years of wear on the springs. I am installing my new rear GR-2s in the morning. The struts I pulled out last weekend were Mullholland - interpart and it was riding nice and low in the rear but I could tell they were not doing thier job when I hit even a modest bump. I expect the rear to ride a little higher after installation. John
  15. So the brakes run through the 4 way too. That's good to know. I do have a Series 1 4-way if you need it. Let me know. John
  16. See if he has a set of tool box covers. That's what I need. John
  17. Tried calling to place an order twice today and got no answer. Voicemail box also full so I can't leave a message. John
  18. I believe the turn signals run through the flasher, not the brake lights. Here's a link to a printable wiring diagram: http://www.classiczcars.com/forums/showthread.php?p=157255 John
  19. I am having the same problem. Please explain the adjustment or thread where you found the solution. Also, around my area if you take the wheel to Discount Tire they will patch it for free whether you purchased the tire there or not. I've done this many times. Good luck with the car and the insurance company. John
  20. Why are the SUs so tarnished? The rest of the engine looks very clean. That car actually looks very familiar. Does that belong to a member here?

Congrats Jim. I love the color!

Yes, I purchased 2 different sets of boots, neither fit correctly. Luckily my originals were not torn or "melting" so I was able to clean them up with a worn out green scrubby and then I conditioned them and they hold grease great and are nice and flexible. The BD kit and those sold at places like rockauto.com are all too big. Their solution is to use a cable tie to crimp them down. I didn't like that idea so I returned them. Let me know if you find a set that fits. John
  23. Not enough to justify the cost and time put into it. I have maybe 4 months driving season up here and last year I think I put 300 miles on it. So sad.....
  24. I have a series 1 wiper motor that works if you are interested. It is in "as-pulled" condition and it needs a new connector and a little cleaning but it does work on both speeds. PM me if interested. Also, they occasionally show up rebuilt on ebay for around $300.00. Not sure if they are series 1 though. John
