Looks like a good time to acquire cylinders!

    52 grand and counting....
  4. Did you use the System One on the chrome and painted areas?
  5. He's still kicking a better than ever. I'm pretty sure your not missing the Robbinsdale weather right now...

It was down for me also. Must have been a server/connectivity issue. Mike, do you have any insight?
  7. Mike, Very nice find! Good luck with it. What did you use to clean those caps? Details please.... Thanks!

Will be a nice Christmas present for the winning bidder (and seller if it goes!) Another car for Jay's collection?
  9. Dave, I actually have a 01/70 engine. Does that change thing?
  10. Your rate of increase is over 100% this past year. If you haven't already surpassed your age you will soon if you keep up the increase rate....
  11. Will, you should consider donating some of your cylinders to some of the less fortunate folks here. Nice collection.
  12. That's quite an impressive collection there Unkle. Not sure how you could come up with an age/horsepower ratio. Divide your age by the total horsepower you own, but what would be a good number. Joe would say "that's way too much math" I'd agree with Joe....
  13. Does/why doesn't anybody make an upgraded, high quality complete harness setup for a 240 with factory type connectors?
  14. $1200 a set up to $3000 a set? Whoa! I think I am in the wrong business. Can that be correct? Is re-chroming that much these days? What vehicle do those caps come off of?
  15. 57 is not a number to be ashamed about. Good work. Arne, tell me it's because you live in a condo.... Your doing great! Just be sure to keep ahead of the curve, it's very easy to get caught behind the eight ball. If you live in the same house you can "claim" those cylinders then divide the total in half. (It's a rule) Only if they are gas/diesel/kerosene powered. Internal Combustion Engines only. I'm pretty sure I have seen an index like that before. Not sure how you would calculate an appropriate ratio of age/cubic inches. Blue, you changed your post a little, my reply may confuse some people but I'll leave it for now.
  16. Any idea what a guy might expect to pay for a re-chrome of 4 caps?
  17. The term “Cylinder Index” (CI) was coined by Joe Soucheray, a columnist for the St. Paul Pioneer Press and a radio talk-show host here in the Twin Cities. ( http://www.am1500.com/gl/index.shtml , check it out) He hosts a show called Garage Logic. Here is a quote from the Mayor of Garage Logic: Back to the CI. You calculate it by adding up all the cylinders of internal combustion engines that you have in your household. That includes cars and trucks and other fun rides that you don’t drive every day; original engines for those car/other rides, any other crate engine, other car/truck engines that you have the parts to build, motorcycles and ATVs, tractors, lawnmowers, boats, snow blowers, Roto-Tillers, leaf blowers, chain saws, ice augers, gas-powered generators and other powered tools, even those old Cox gas-powered scale model C2 split-window coupes with .049-cubic-inch single-cylinder engines. Pretty any item with an Internal Combustion Engine. Having a large CI is just like having a lot of tools…or a lot of anything that’s considered “guy stuff,” even though the CI is something that can be calculated by anyone, anywhere, any time. The way Joe explains it is that an acceptable CI is equal to or greater than your age. I am 43 and my cylinder index should be 43. It is only 26,:disappoin but I will be adding to it soon. Looking for a 84 Mustang GT and a 78 Fiat spider. What's your CI?
  18. Try the archives. I found the issue by filling in the search info. Looks like they will get you what you are looking for. http://www.classicandsportscar.com/archives_home.asp Looks like the Z has been featured 11 times, but not since 2002.

Did RVGD do the build of your GTM? When did you take delivery?

Woke up this morning and the temp was 7 below. I have cable heat in the garage floor. I keep the garage at 50 all winter long. Just warm enough to wear jeans and a flannel and still feel comfortable. Still hurts like he** when you bang a knuckle though:hurt: Now to the garage: 2005 Toyota Highlander Limited (Wife's DD) 2005 Ford F-150 King Ranch Super Crew (My DD) 1970 240Z in full restoration, pictured below (My Toy) 2003 Craftsman DGT 6000 Garden Tractor with 48" snow thrower and chains Power Wheels Barbie Jeep (5 year old daughters DD) Various other gas powered tools And a big, hungry dog that doesn't like strangers!
  21. All this interest seems to have driven up the price on these to a fairly high price for a set needing restoration (imo) that don't truly match. All that and the seller's reserve wasn't even met....
  22. Thanks for the info. Will come in handy to some but I am looking for an exact replacement for mine and I have a 4 speed. John
  23. Boy, that looks very similar to what I have in my car right now. The thing that throws me off is I found a plate welded to the top tank that says "Ray's Radiator Repair". Maybe the PO just had it recored. I will look at pictures and compare. Thanks for the post!
  24. Thanks John, I am in no rush. Just PM me when you get some pictures. My engine will be out until I get the body work and paint done. Let me know. Thanks, John
  25. Ron, Thanks for the great info. I have been through the datsun.org website and actually first found the info about F.A.R on that site. I am interested in the racing history and appreciate your help although I probably won't bother Les until I need new seat covers (if he still has some) Thanks again.
