  1. I tried rsp. They never responded. Let me know if you have any luck.
  2. Thanks for the input. I will let you know where I got them after my order is filled Still haven't heard back on availability yet. If you are interested let me know. Maybe we can get a better price. Right now they are about $270.00 per side. John
  3. I found some filler as I stripped the doors on my car this past weekend. It looks like the guy had a dent on each door about 5 inches up from the bottom. The body shop drilled and pulled then filled. This is unacceptable to me. There were also numerous door dings that were filled. I found some full skins that I am considering purchasing. Was wondering if anyone has experience removing and replacing these and if they could give some insight. Looks like the tops are spot welded and the other 3 sides look like the just slide into place. Maybe they have a tack here and there but I couldn't tell. Any help would be great. John
  4. Welcome to the board. There are a few out there. I drove from MN to Cali to pick up a early 1970(01/70 #1366) that was parked for 20 years. Rust free but found some dents that were filled with body filler when I stripped it. They are out there, you just have to look. I would try Craigslist and search all the California cities. Oh, and bring a magnet. Just so you know, I had 3 grand into it by the time I got it home and have put about a grand into my the engine resto and misc. parts. Still have the paint job (hoping for under 5 grand), some interior parts, brake work, window and body seals and the exhaust system to go. Good luck on the hunt, it is at least half the fun.... John

What should I pay for a Japanese import right hand drive 2+2 that needs a little work to get it running and a little rust repair? Does the RHD and Fairlady have an impact on the value? Any input appreciated. John

  9. Welcome. Sounds like a nice setup.
  10. Does anybody have a picture or two of an early series 1 distributor? I am talking to a few people that aren't "sure" of what they have. Thanks John
  11. Is there a difference between the early single and later single? The reason I ask is that the PO had modified the existing dizzy so he could install electronic ignition and I found someone who has some early setups I can buy but want to get the right one. Thanks, John

Arne's got it right. I bought my oil from my local crotch rocket shop. They thought I was crazy too when I told them I needed oil for my carbs! They ordered it for me in a 1 litre bottle for $12.00. A lot more than I need and a lot more than I thought I would spend but it is correct. Sounds like John Mcgarvie has a system that may work for removing most of the existing oil. Good luck. John
  13. Take off a week and go for a ride between each task..... Welcome to the club. John

Here is a picture of the header with the smog rail installed. You can see the white buildup on the steel tubes that go into the exhaust ports. I hit one of them with a wire wheel and it "dusted" off about 2 MM of white powder which made me believe it was ceramic. Any idea? John

  17. First of all, get that bumper off your hood, carefully!
  18. I just turned 44 last month (I see a patern of mid-life crisis guys forming!) and my first car was a 71 240. Just beginning to relive my childhood. Next is the 84 Mustang GT and maybe a YZ250. Who knows? The wife is getting more worried by the moment!!! John

Are the smog tubes in the exhaust manifold supposed to be ceramic coated or do mine just have buildup on them? I am asking because I want to blast it and need to know if I should protect them. TIA John
  20. The dings can be worked out by a body guy or a plater. They will charge you alot for their services, be prepared. I was quoted 450 per bumper with uprights to remove one ding and replate. If you want a black bumper then go for it. Should look nice with the silver paint.

www.towerpaint.com Call them, ask for Barry. Tell them the color code you want and they will mix it for you. They use Dupont or PPG depending on color. Good pricing, quick turn around and the nozzles they use seem to spray nicely.
  22. I'd say yes. Any idea what brand of air dam that is? I think thats the same one that came with my car. I like that style vs. the flap that tapers forward. John

Nope, you're a good 2 days away. Probably cost you around 400 to ship there. At least you have access to a lift, many here do not. John

I have a lead on 2 2-post lifts and a drive on lift for sale. Not sure of the exact model but they are Ben Pearson 9000 pound capacity. I called BP and they said you need 4" of concrete, minimum 10' Ceiling and they come standard with a single pole, 30 amp electrical requirement although some shops have converted them to 3-phase. That leads me to believe that they can be converted back to 110 easily if needed. They are used and would be pulled from an existing shop that is closing. So if you are not in the Twin Cities area you would have to consider shipping. He is asking only $1000.00 each. I have dibs on the drive on if it is still available. I would do what I could to help out of towners but my time is limited and the guy is about an hour away from where I am. Anybody interested in a lift? We may be able to get an even better deal if we buy all 3. Let me know. John

Would any remanufactured spacers look original? I'm guessing not. My local Napa guy looked at my spacers to get me gaskets and the first thing that came out of his mouth was "Bakelite". I asked him what he was talking about and he said they were made of Bakelite. What is Bakelite? He compared it to the material that used to be used on pots and pan handles that were oven safe. Maybe your old dutch oven has Bakelite on it. I dont know but if the fit is correct for 10.99 I'd go that route if you werent stuck on all original. You might even be able to curve the flat sides with a grinding wheel to make it look closer to correct. John
