Hello, I was just wondering if anyone knew anything about selecting spark plug wires? Does it really matter what kind of wire you get for your car? Do you need a certain set up with a Mallory Unilite Distributor and a MSD Blaster 2 coil, and MSD 6A?

Well, I got myself a test light and tested the connection from the + battery terminal to the coil and the secondary resistance. I also, I got a bright green light. Then I attached the spark plug wire (hi temp super stock radio suppression core 8mm wire) to the coil and checked the connection using the test light on the other end of the wire. It was green as well, but not as bright. Is this normal? How do I know I have the right spark plug wires for my ignition set up? Once I got the green light from the wire, I then attached it to the distributor cap and and tested the connection from underneath it....the contact from the cap to the pointer, and I got the same faint light. Then I decided to pull all 6 plugs from the cap and found the terminal 1 and 6 had carbon currosion caused from high voltage arching. Aparently, the contact between the plug wire leads were not close enought to the 1 and 6 terminal on the cap. i found this on www.zcar.com/forums/read/1/1895123. Should I get new wires, or are they all the same?

ok, so what you are saying, is that I use a screwdriver to bridge the two terminals on the starter motor connected to the transmission? The starter is turning the transmission, the car just won't start because I'm not getting any spark from the coil. When this all first started, the car was on. But once I put my foot on the gas to accelerate, the engine died.

"run a wire from the battery positive to the coil positive and then bridge the starter motor terminals. If it runs you have a wiring issue somewhere between the ignition barrel and the coil." Ok, so I understand how to run the wire from the battery positive to the coil positive. But what do you mean by bridgeing the starter motor terminals? Could you be a little more specific please? Thanks man. I'm not to up on the electrical system, pleas bare with me.

I get 12v reading from the new battery and the coil, but when I try to crank it, no spark is coming out of the coil?

Hello, Well I installed a Mallory Unilite vac advance distributor along with a Blaster 3 coil and NGK plugs on my L28/N42 with triple Mikuni carbs. The car has been running ok but a little rich due to the upgraded ignition that was on the engine before I bought it. It did not come with the engine, but I do plan on buying an MSD 6A for it. But any way, I go to start the car in the morning and when I step on the gas, the power cuts off. The car has not been running for around a month. I checked the fuel, and I've got a new battery and I think the carbs work, but I do not have any power going to the coil. I checked the coil with a multimeter and it's good. I even hooked up the stock coil and it still did not receive any power. I then checked the distributor, and I have carbon build up on the distributor cap leads from cylinder 1 and 6 only. I still don't know why I'm not getting any spark from the coil? I have A black and gray wire going to the positive, and a black and green going to the negative. The grey wire goes to a ballast resistor, which has a red wire that goes to the distributor. Can anyone help me?
  7. will a 280z 8 1/2" Diameter Booster fit on the 240k?

I am currently in the process of replacing my L28 N42 valve bushings. I was wondering, since I'm going to have the valve cover off, where I might be able to buy some new stock valve springs. Also, would I need to replace the valve cover seal? And, after I replace the valve springs, do I have to replace the valve retainers and lash pads as well?
  9. The mirrors over here on yahoo auction japan I can get for around 100.00. At least, that is what the starting bid is.

Hey, 73skyline, what type of suspension set up are you going to put on that bad boy!?
  11. I'm just trying to through on some 4 pot R32 brakes and will probably leave the rear stock drums. I don't plan on racing so, I think the 4 pots will be good. Do you know If I need a bigger booster for em, or should I stick to the stock ones? What kind of suspension do you have? I could get those mirrors here on yahoo auction.
  12. hey, any word on the Brake booster/master cyl upgrade? I've got a GC111 and I'm trying to upgrade my wheels before leave Japan in a year.

Do only connect the red wire from the distributor, or does there have to be another wire connected, like the starter?

hello, I just got a Mallory Unilite distributor and also purchased a MSD Blaster 2 coil. I was wondering, if I need to install the ballast resistor (MSD part number: PN8203)

Hello, I'm new and just got a 1977 Skyline with a L28 N42 head. It seems that they put a L20 oil pan so that it could fit nice and snug on top of the steering rack. Well the problem, is that the dipstick is for the L28, but because the oil pan was changed the dipstick does not go all the way in. When I went to get an oil change, I did not know how much oil I had in the car, so ended up putting a little over 6qrts of oil. Does anyone know how many quarts an L28 takes wit an L20/24 oil pan?
