  1. Ok Here goes my attempt at posting pix. Any pix I have from when I bought the car are long gone. So I will start with a about 2 years ago. Underside after I pulled it apart Front frame after the car wash Empty engine bay before anything. Floor, the reason I bought the car was the condition of the floors and frame.
  2. So should I post pix of the car here or on another thread in the other forum? Let me know, Richard.
  3. Hi, my name is Richard and I have Z problem. 9070 is my 4th Z and by far the cleanest. I am a car guy and make my living on/with them. We have been involved with the kit car industry and the Mustang 5.0 crowd for about the last 10 years. Before all of that I did the Rustang thing for years and then went to Z cars, bought my first in 84 and had 2 others in between that one and this one. Well life got in the way and the 9070 went into storage for about 15 years. I dug it out two years ago and as time and money have permitted got some stuff done. Pulled the numbers matching motor and trans and have the trans done already motor should be done in a week or so. All the suspension is off and almost ready to go back on. POR 15 on the entire underside of the tub and fresh paint on the rest of it. Waiting on the final funds to paint the doors, hatch, hood and fenders. Planning on an almost complete restoration, with better AC system and suspenion and wheels/tires. Nothing radical just a nice driveable Z. I am not advertising so if the link needs to be deleted do so. my site is www.northracecars.com people can see what we do there, nothing to sell Z car guys so I hope not to offend. This ooks like a good place to hang out. I am a member of a couple of other boards and help moderate one and this place looks as good as any of them. Thanks in advance for the help I know I am going to get. Richard.
  4. They are expensive but Classic tube sells the complete set of 3 for about $300 pre bent in stainless. I am only doing this car once and the budget went long ago. HTH, Richard.
  5. I have had a lift for about 8 years. I can not imagine life without it. I have two jack trays so I can get any car on 4 jack stands if I need to. Or just drive on and do anything from oil changes to clutch swaps. Makes for an extra garage space also. The drip trays save the car parked under the lifted car. In reality it should not leak but that is almost impossible to accomplish on old cars. Richard.
  6. To follow up a little more. The trans case is 3 parts as opposed to the later versions that are one piece. We had to order about 20 main bands for it to get the right one. The one we got could have grown potatoes on the box, really dusty. The converter was the same as the later year models so it was easy to get. The car is a series 1 (duh) and survived a mild hit in the right front very early one. When I got the car I did not even notice the damage until we tore it down. ODO shows about 98K and appears to be original. I bought the car in 92 and then life changed and it sat, stored inside until 2 years ago when I started the tear down and restoration. It does have the 2400 cover also. I am pretty sure over 40 years some info has been lost. Carl, I think I will be asking many questions as time goes on. Once I get a little more familiar I will post a thread with pix. Looks like a good group here. Richard.
  7. I have #9070 and it is an auto with air. I have owned it a long time and tore it down, it is original and for sure not a swap. As with all written things, there is some guessing going on. Just my opinion. First post, kind of new here. Richard.
