Is the screen in the pump inlet?? When I replaced the pump I put in a new damper and regulator. I disconnected all the fuel lines and blew them through. I also drained the tank again (third time) through cheese cloth. The tank was full. There was not a speck of dirt or rust.disconnected the fuel rail again, alls clear. the vapor lines the same. I get a hesitation at the start so I still think the timing is not right. I am going to check that today. I guess I should stick with the fuel?? This sucks,

Little confused. Nothing between the tank and the fuel pump that resembles a filter???? When I press the accelerator the pressure drops to about 28. Fuel pump inlet screen? I have a small plastic valve on the other line but notheing on the tank to fuel pump line.

the pressure just fluctuates with the erratic idle. it continues to run without stalling. going to check that small filter.

Fuel pressure flucuates between 36 and 30 when throttles up and down. Put in another fuel filter. Waiting for a timing gun

drained the fuel through the drain plug at the bottom of the tank. Fuel filter has been replaced. I never touched the cap until the problem started. Tomorrow: Fuel pressure, another timing check. I am noticing a stight tap in the top. Could a valve or somthing else up there cause this?? BTW I appreciate all the responses. Nice to know you can get info like this. Thanks

I drained the fuel that was in it. I put about 10 gal of fresh fuel in the tank and drained that through a paint screen. It was free of debris so I used that fuel in the lawn mower. Filled it up with new fuel. is there something else I can check?

Whats got me is It ran fine and then this without me touching anything. That makes me think something went. the fouling seems to be a combo. I def. smell fuel.

My 78 280 barely starts and throttles up and down once started. everything is new from fuel pump to injectors. cold valve is working, new cap, rotor, coil, pickup, wires and plugs. The plugs got fouled after a few minutes of this rollercoaster idle. I got the car after it sat in a garage for a few years. replaced the fuel stuff and it started and ran great.(at least the motor did) I started it each day for about a week, then this crap.

Hy guys, First time on the site. 78z Same issues. air only from the front vents. No heat. The vac hose that leaves the interior and goes into the engine compartment has been cut at the firewall (in the engine area) Anyone know where it should lead?? I have a round whiteish clear plastic tank about the size of a soda bottle on the pass side on the engine area above the starter. could it go there? what the hell is it.
