auto parts stores and their brands
Not all companies make all the parts. Most of the time they repackage the part with their name. For instance, I just bought a Clutch master cylinder and slave cylinder from Advance. The slave is in a Beck/Arnley Box but the part is manufactured in Japan by NABCO, I already installed the master and can't read the name on it but the package says Tru-Torque, which I highly doubt is the manufacturer. Furthermore, I have a good friend that works at a Gates rubber plant that manufactures belts and hoses. He said that about 1/3 of the parts that come out of the plant have other names on the part... like Goodyear just to name one. I have always had good luck with Beck/Arnley and McQuay-Norris packaged parts (Z or otherwise). Nate

How much do they weigh?
zguitar, I agree. I weighed an early model 5 spd before at 75lbs, add 5 for packing material and voila - 80lbs Nate

The bill was passed???
I have all sorts of comments about liberals and tree-huggers ready to pop out right now but I've decided to keep them to my self. Here's one for those folks that've decided to move out of CA but don't know where to go, South Carolina does not require vehicle inspections nor do they require any sort of smog inspections either. Now how many Mustangs and Camaros with any work done to them still have their catalytic convertors? I'll give you a hint, those "off-road" H-pipes sold in the magazines tend to find their way onto the roads in SC. But then again, you'd have to live in SC.

what is compression ratio
For Inquiring minds... http://auto.howstuffworks.com/question90.htm Paragraph five explains the relationship of fuel and compression ratio... which can be applied to term pre-detonation. Nate

Ready for the road
Outstanding Ed! I have the same mirrors on mine right now but they are less than attractive now, very faded and flaking. I just might be interested in yours... Just noticed the Hella lamps, Awesome! Nate

Need Info on '73 240 Z's
This question has the possibility to have a verrrrrry long answer. First off this is in the wrong thread, 240K vice 240Z, so maybe one of the moderator folks could move it. Simple mistake though. Most S30 Z's share parts, but you will find that the 240's are all really close. On the other hand you will find that they all have their differences. Your carbs are typically considered "undesireable", it just depends on what you plan on doing to/with your Z. The "desireable" carbs are the '70-'72 "round-tops". To my knowledge your carbs are the same as the 260. I will end here to keep it simple, just use the search function and if that is unfruitful, just ask and you will typically get great answers as we have many very experienced folks here. Look for Ed, he just finished a complete restore on a '73 and I'm sure he can answer a lot of you interchange and year specific questions, but basically with exception of your bumpers and carburetors 99% of your 73 is the same as the earlier models. Nate Oh yeah, Check MSA's catalog and Victoria British's catalog as they mention a lot of the interchange and year specific stuff, as well as when what changes took place.

No clutch pressure
Thanks fellas, makes sense. I just put it up on jack stands... no leaks that I notice from the top so I'm giving the bottom a shot. Z convention next week and I lose my Z... not good! Might have to next day a part, urgh!

No clutch pressure
Well, I went to move the Z out of the garage and when I pressed the clutch down it has no pressure. No resistance what so ever. It has plenty of fluid - which looks like it should be changed. It gave no warning, she sat for a few days and now this. Master or slave cylinder is the question? My guess would be slave. Any other ideas? Nate
