Wow! My once-in-a-lifetime find!!!!!
Darn You!!! I hate you and you're happy little perfect luck!!! Where's that sharp knife I have???:dead: No seriously, Good for you man. That's a great find. Good luck with the project and getting her turned over. I'm with everybody else Marvel in the cylinders overnight turn by hand, turn by key, fire it up! Now here's something no ones mentioned but make sure all your fluids are there. Fresh coolant, fresh oil in the crankcase. Check/ replace hose cause you don't want those things blowing up and spraying gas/ oil/ coolant in the driveway. Don't just try to hurry up and see if it runs. Take your time and always think safety first! You've got quite the canvas, what are your plans Picasso? :classic: Nate

71 240z
Okay, so right now I'm crying...sniff, sniff. My intentions were... Call, get address, see car, take pictures, Check to see if "most" of the pieces were there, take pictures, see if car really ran "strong", take pictures, put on jack stands or ramps, take pictures, pull back carpet to check pans, take pictures, if all was good purchase car and take pictures. I'm am planning on a full restoration project, but I would like most of the pieces to be present not a stripped junk yard chassis. And if this was some moron parting with a decent car for $900 bucks I'd have been all smiles :classic: ...Plus my little lady was approving of it since it wasn't the $5000 rides I had been lookink at. Here's what really happened... Called and FINALLY got ahold of the seller. "oh it sold a week ago" "I was looking at the ad online and it says that it posted yesterday' "yeah I put it in the magazine a week ago and it sold the first day" AAAAAARRRRRRRRRRHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!! :disappoin :surprised Oh, well. Guess it wasn't meant to be. Sniff sniff.

71 240z
Eureka!!! I found her!!! She's all mine!!! Back off!!! 71 240z not to far from me and for sale. The price? Let's just say it's a song and dance. Now here's the best part. I'm not supposed to get one 'till after we get hitched in October, but... I've conned her into going with me to look at it and if I like it, and she likes it, the price sure is right! I could very well have a Z by the weekend!!! So like I'm so freakin' flippin' crazy excited out of my mind I had to say something!!! Of course it could be a big turd not worth the time or money:disappoin The ad says "1971 DATSUN 240Z, , restoration project, 100% rust free, California car, runs good, strong engine, needs cosmetics" To me this means I shouldn't expect a whole lot, but it says "runs":D So please join in with my happiness!!!

Nissan Driving simulator
Hey ya'll! Just kinda read through this quickly, but there is a game with a Z in it. Gran Turismo 2 has a 240z Japan Spec model in it. You have to keep an eye on the Nissan used car garage. I've seen it in Red and in White. Along with a tons of 300's.

Gauge Not working, Whats Wrong?
The very simple method of troubleshooting. "Good in, Bad out you've found the culpritt" I'm not yet an owner, but I am an Electronics Tech. Granted, $50,000 radars aren't auto gauges but they're pretty close. What's the one thing they have in common? A. power? B. are they in the same cluster? I don't know If they are ( If they're hooked up properly the chances of both senders being bad are slim. Most likely the Cluster should be replaced. The Gauge Voltage Regulator that the Haynes manual is refering to is more than likely in the cluster. If I couldn't be any farther off even if I lived in a closet let me know. The two most common problems on our boats are A. It's not plugged in and B. Grounding, you've got to have a good chassis ground. Happy hunting and good luck!!! :cross-eye

Who's car is this?
Hey ya'll! I found this picture online some time ago and it has been gracing my monitor ever since. This is the epitome of what I want!!!!!! Does anybody know who it belongs to. It obviously has a Texas plate. So that might help narrow it down a bit.

350z question....
Interesting point. I think that it would be impossible for a 350z owner not to appreciate the 240z. Being that the 350 isn't exactly cheap nor easy to get, it kinda rules out the "aw, thats a cute car" crowd. Plus, have you been in a Nissan dealer showroom lately? Every one that i've been in always has at least one major picture of a certain yellow 240 with chrome wires. what do ya'll think? Who's going to the Northeast Z Adventure? We all need a Z to lean on.

Zs by the Bay - ZFEST 8/4/2002 in norcal
Hello everybody! Check this out. August 4 is also the 212th Birthday for the United States Coast Guard. That's right 212 years of guarding our boarders and saving lives. So if anybody has any pull at this event, a little remembrance for the Coast Guard and other Armed Sevices is always appreciated. Hoo Rah! Heres a little History for ya'll http://www.uscg.mil/hq/g-cp/history/collect.html Now if you didn't know there happens to be a lot of Coast Guard in the Bay Area. One of the Boot Camp locations used to be Alameda Island in S.F., this base is still highly active but no longer serves in the Basic Training role. There are many cutters and small boats stationed there. Also, In Petaluma (less than an hour North) is a large training center where they teach many of us Coasties how to do our jobs ie: Electronics Tech. Thanks for listening!

T shirts
Howdy Ya'll! Looking around last night I found a Datsun T-shirt @ www.zcarparts.com. $14.95...looked pretty cool. Which brings me to my question. Does anyone know of any places to get datsun, Z, or 510 shirts at? How cool automotive shirts in general(ie: Weber, Mikuni, BRE)? And how about that cool graphic at the site homepage? Has anyone thought about a shirt from that? I'm already in line for two, how much? Thanks again, The question man

How do you tell the Z's apart?
Much thanks is being sent out to that car guy in Oklahoma! That helps alot. Does anybody else have any other info on how to physically tell the z's apart... such as bumpers changes to body panels, size/shape of window or lights. Thanks again!

How do you tell the Z's apart?
Ahhh so here it is. A question i hope some can answer with more than "look at the emblems". How do you tell the 240 260 and 280's apart. Does anybody have or know where to find a break down for all the years. One that tells what changed (options and trim) each year. I see that there are 2 models in 71, early and late. What's the difference? Why is it that people like to replace the 2.4 for the 2.8? Is it the old no replacement for displacement, or did the 2.4 have some shortcomings, ie: hard to get parts, cooling problems, oiling problems. Just questions. Hard to get answers on the east coast especially up here in Buffalo where if you don't drive american you must be a communist.:tapemouth

Introduce yourself to the class?
Hello all, My name is Nathan (Nate). I'm 22 and an Electronics Technician in the U. S. Coast Guard.:pirate: www.uscg.mil Z's i own: ..............none............... Z's i want:.............yes, please............ I currently live in Orchard Park, NY, a town just outside of Buffalo. I do not like snow or cold weather:sick: being that I'm from Charleston, SC. The wicked twist to that is that I just got restationed here for yet another 4 years.:disappoin I'm getting married Oct. 5th:D Car's I've owned: 88 chevy Silverado 8' bed 305 traded for an 86 Toyota MR2 totaled (rolled 5 times):hurt:. 84 Monte Carlo SS couldve been a great car but it wasn't a real SS it was some dumb rednecks interpretation of how to make an SS from a LS and it took me a couple months to figure out and for the next 2 years i lived under the hood.:stupid: Learned alot about engine rebuilds:cross-eye. For one year i was the proud owner of an 86 Sentra w/120,000miles. Zero problems, ran like a top, Sold to a friend for what I paid for it And bought a 2000 Ford Ranger XLT V6...Because I couldn't justify $2000 more for a V6 Frontier:stupid: ...This is my last Domestic vehicle. I also now own a 97 Kawasaki Ninja 600.:devious: I did have a 72 1/2 Datsun 620 pickup that was given to me but when i got towed to the house and was able to inspect rust, missing pieces and what not, compared that to what it would cost and be worth in the end ...she got sent to the salvage yard. Well that's me. Lookin for a Z.

Would you pay for a poster of your car?
I'd love a poster of somebody's. As of right now if i was to have one of mine it would be a 36" piece of blank paper. I'd think in the neighborhood of $10-$20 would be very reasonable for a poster of your own ride. I'm with Zvoiture on some of those pics, especially the third one down!
