p410 Bluebird
One of my buddies back in Charleston came across a 411 SSS. Not sure if it has sold yet but if anyones interested... All I have seen of it was a few crappy camera phone pics so I can't speak of it's condition. I've attached a MS Word doc with the aforementioned pics. Nate 410 sss.doc

Any experience with the 2.7 L ?
Alex, It was a multi-issue build in GRM's sister publication Classic Motorsports. I'm in the middle of moving right now so I don't have access to my back issues... but when I find them I will let you know, that is if someone doesn't beat me to it Nate

Any experience with the 2.7 L ?
The worked head option is definitely sounding quite appealing, be it Sunbelt or any other shop that has experience with the L motor. A different head would not be out of the question either because a head would be a whole lot easier to move and store than an entire engine. So maybe I should just grab a better flowing head, go with the port and polish, maybe bigger valves???, hotter cam, bore the block .xxx, better ignition, headers and exhaust. Could save quite a bit. Anybody have any head stories or recommendations? Rebello is by far the most widely known name in Datsun performance builds, but I do like the idea of going with an East Coast builder too. I am popping in a 5spd and the diff could use a rebuild too.

Any experience with the 2.7 L ?
Thanks guys... great info! I am definetly open to other possibilities and a little bit of a drive is not out of the question. Atlanta is about 5 hours... Charlotte is 3... gogriz- It's just not practical for me to move an entire engine every couple of years. For instance... the last time we transfered I was underway in the caribbean and my wife had to move without me. I had an F54 block kicking around at the time and the military does not authorize the moving companies to move "major" car parts. My truck sat in a parking lot at the base for one month with the F54 and a 5spd strapped to a couple of pallets. Luckily they fit under the tonneau cover, but this left less room for all the other things that needed to go in the truck... ie: all the chemicals they won't move either... cleaners and such plus all the clothes and uniforms I had on the ship. Thanks again... I'd love to hear more! Anybody else in the Southeast with input and/or engine shop experience?

Any experience with the 2.7 L ?
Steve, Thanks for doing my searching for me ! Man, I searched like crazy and didn't come across that thread... I kept searching for 2.7 this or 2.7 that and never threw Rebello in. I'm also a subscriber to Classic Motorsports and GRM and hadn't considered Sunbelt but I will contact them too. Honestly, I figured it would cost more than that though. Of course, I have no idea what cross country shipping costs would be like. Thanks!

Any experience with the 2.7 L ?
Before anyone can say it... Yes, I am fully aware that I could start with an L28... but that's not the point. What I have... The numbers matching and running engine for my 240Z. What I am... In the military, and therefore I have to move every 2 to 4 years. What I am not... Able to move an entire engine everytime I move. I want more power and I believe Dave Rebello has the combo I am looking for, but I would like to get some input from people who have experience. Nate

XenonXIII Here
Welcome! That is a highly ambitious undertaking and I highly commend your efforts. Some of the info may be (or may end up being) redundant, but thats what's great about having more than one place on line to go... not everybody will have all of the same info available. I like your GUI and the list of bulbs all in one place is great. I look forward to the evolution of your page. Happy motoring!

Wheel Studs and Panasports
Thanks Will! The Quest ones sound like a good place to start. Now I'll need to figure out what year Quest to go with. I'll swing by the dealer and see what I come up with.

Wheel Studs and Panasports
What length wheel studs is everybody running? Heck for that matter what size? I've seen reference to non-Nissan sizes too. After swapping the stock steel wheels for 16x7 Panasports I am concerned that the studs aren't long enough. I'm temporarily using open ended lug nuts and when tightened I'm only getting about 8 threads of contact. I've read that it should be more like 10 to 12. Also, I'm trying to get into SCCA Solo 2 and I really don't feel that this stud/lug combo is the safest route. So anyway, I'm going to order studs and nuts just as soon as I get some input from my friends here at the best damn Z site on the internet!

Poor man's Porche
Just wanted to chime in with my $.02... I've heard the Poor Mans Porsche comment before and I've even had some uneducated people ask me if my Z was a Porsche. My take is a little different than others. I will agree that the Z and the Porsche are both sports cars but the similarities end there. I-6 vs. H6, 2 seats vs. 4, front engine vs. rear. I see the Z as an inexpensive option compared the XKE and possibly even the Ferrari... 250(?). Regardless, I've always liked the XKE and Ferrari's... but I've never wanted one. The Z, on the other hand, I fell in love with as a kid in the mid 80's and HAD to have one. I would "like" to have an E, 250GTO, or a '73 911 RS, but I don't WANT them. Heck, a '68 Chevy C10 pickup is higher on my list.

burnout tips
Well Sir, allow me to state the obvious... A track is about the only LEGAL place to abuse any automobile. It isn't that it can't do a burnout because it's a sportscar... it's that a 150hp, 30+ yr old, IRS, sports car isn't exactly the king of burnouts and quite frankly if you have to ask then be prepared for damage, because if it was built appropriately (ie: Dave's Z) it would require no effort to melt a set of shoes. Plenty of non-sports cars can do burn outs especially the front wheel drives, solid axles, light rear-ends ... big deal... hell my crew cab Frontier can roast a set of tires almost as nicely as Dave's impressive display. Furthermore I'd like to pose a retorical question to the entire board... Is it impossible to post your own reply/answer to a question without attacking anothers response? Hmmm, I'll take my own advice and roll on...

burnout tips
Well Minnesota, let me break it down for you... You're talking about a 4 wheel independent suspension sports car. It's built with the intention of competent and spirited driving around turns... and it does that quite well. I do NOT recommend it but..... If you feel it to be of grave importance to start a "one tire fire" or the "single wheel peel" there is a pretty sure shot way to do it. With proper tune and tire pressure just park the rear of your (more than likely open differential'd) Z in a puddle of water with some bleach added for extra smoke, rev the wizz out of it and drop the clutch. This should provide you with the desired effect........ ***DANGER*** .... you will more than likely destroy a few parts on your over 30 year old lady from the land of the rising sun. You have 6 U-joints and a multitude of other more costly drivetrain members begging you NOT to do this.

Our Dog Died Today
Hey man... sorry to hear about Daisy, she was a pretty dog. The worst part of all is that it was someone else's fault as opposed to medical or old age. I've lost two cats in the past both to kidney failure around the 15 yr mark and I cried like a baby both times. Sorry for your loss, I'm sure she'll be waiting for you on the other side.

Greg Ira's E Prod 240Z New Look
LOVE the orange!!! ... of course I'm a bit partial ... Very sweet! Impressive outcome especially considering the engine failure and the subsequent loss of track time. Nice shots... thanks for sharing!

Z therapy carbs...how good
I'll be placing my order in a couple weeks (since I'm not home right now), and I must say that I can't wait! I've been hearing these sorts of comments about the carbs for years now and I've yet to hear anything bad about them or their carbs. I purchased their tune up video last year along with the unisyn. The video was esay to follow and got the point across. On the other hand my carbs are so far gone that attempting to clean and tune them was counter-productive... with nearly 300,000 miles I guess they've outlived their service life. Nate

The ever feared emissions test...
Yet another reason to live in the southeast! Thanks to my military status, no matter where I live my vehicle will always be registered in South Carolina... which doesn't even have inspections. To you fellas that live in the areas that do... Do any of those "miracles in a bottle" found in auto parts stores help at all? You know, those ones that say that they will or will help you pass smog inspections?
